    Frankincense and myrrh being associated with the fall equinox makes so much sense for the whole “Christmas should actually be in September” theory 🤯🤯🤯

      Some say Christ was born in the summer, and not December....allegedly. A quick search showed three Jewish pilgrimages to Jerusalem; one in spring, one in summer, and one in fall......I have many questions.

    • @GinnyMetheral
      @GinnyMetheral  2 роки тому

      I dont know that theory - do tell more!

    • @DawnMK2023
      @DawnMK2023 2 роки тому +2

      @@GinnyMetheral It's a theory I ran across a little over a year ago. There is no historical reference to set Christ's birth on Dec 25. The date/season and even the year is an estimate. Not even the Bible has a definite date. It just said it was during one of the Jewish pilgrimages. But when you look at the story:
      Mary and Joseph traveled during a pilgrimage to Jerusalem where Mary then had to find a place to give birth when she got there. The closest date for the pilgrimage that is closest to December is in September. The next one is in April and again at the beginning of summer.
      So unless there is/was a pilgrimage the Jewish people make during the winter, I'm inclined to believe we just picked a date out of convenience.

    • @jennb1566
      @jennb1566 2 роки тому +1

      It was to pacify converts who didn’t want to give up their fun mid-winter festivities. Most likely Christ’s birth was in a warm season, because that is when the shepherds would have actually been out “abiding their flocks by night.”

    • @DawnMK2023
      @DawnMK2023 2 роки тому +2

      @@jennb1566 I had forgotten about the shepherds watching their flock at night. Jerusalem winters are fairly mild compared to the northern regions. 13 degrees Celsius on average, so overnight temperatures would be closer to freezing. (But no accumulation of snow, poor kids)
      And what same parent-to-be tells themself to make a trip on donkey back across rugged terrain for weeks in the cold winter months just to pay homage to a war hungry god?
      For those confused as to why I say that when "god is a loving and forgiving god": The Old testament is full of wars started by the Jewish god. And then in the New testament, he magically changes his ways. Apparently the old testament was written by the Jewish people, the new was written by the Catholic/Christian church, or so I've been told.
      I have many questions.

    Every Mabon, my favorite tradition is spiced cider! I use all of the fun typical protection and abundance herbs that would usually go in a cider or a pumpkin pie lol We have our first cup in apple cups that we carve ourselves (& I will usually create a sigil for my intentions for the remainder of the year or use one that I already have & carve that in as well), and I will typically share my first batch with more friends after my family and whoever happens to be celebrating with us enjoy our little apple cup carving activity and drink the first of the cider together ❤️ It’s a fun family activity and it makes that first sip very special and meaningful! 😊 If we want more we will make some, but our first batch is ALWAYS for Mabon and always shared with friends!

    Ginny, thank you for presenting Mabon in a light but significant way.
    The depth of this Sabbat was brought to the fore. I shall be redoing
    my altar hopefully to represent what you have so eloquently said.
    Blessed Mabon.

    I'm new to this path. I was going to leave apples and seeds for the birds and squirrels, and leave rosemary sprigs libations of wine for the trees in our yard. I was also going to write gratitudes to reflect on the past year so far. Thank you for the video.

    Thank you Ginny! I've read about an apple pie made for Mabon celebration. I believe it's a great (and tasty!) idea. An apple pie, warm cider and a bonfire with the family and the friends.. perhaps not 100%witchy, but fun!))

    Thank you so much for all your excellent content. I learn so much. I've only been learning about the wheel of the year as it progresses since October of 2021. Wow. The feast of Mabon has many elements I recognize from the American Thanksgiving Day celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. The harvest home supers referenced in several victorian Hymns mentioning "harvest home". The cornucopia overflowing with harvest produce or 'Horn of plenty" as it's called here in America has often been used as the centerpiece used at the American Thanksgiving day table settings. Like all American holidays: cloaked with a veneer of Christianity, have a pagan center. Blessed Be 😊

    This sounds similar to the Green Corn Ceremony of many Native American tribes of the Eastern Woodlands and Southeastern North America. Although it is my understanding the Green Corn Ceremony occurs earlier in late July/August.

    We will be having a formal family dinner for Mabon! Our green beans were most abundant this year, but no fruit yet as our trees were planted this spring and we had to remive all buds so they would have energy to grow. Might snag a couple fresh apples for a desert from a neighbor if they have extra....otherwise my freshly canned pie fillings will work. Excited to be done harvesting!! Running out of jars 😂
    Thank you for sharing ma'am! I sent it to a couple people for ideas for them.

    I am a solitary eclectic Witch but I don't celebrate any of the holidays except for Halloween, because it stems from my European traditions, I don't celebrate the holidays and follow the wheel of the year because I feel it's heavily intertwined with Christian holidays It feels to similar and I don't agree with any of their beliefs. I appreciate your videos though very much very authentic and warm 🕯️✳️💚 blessed be 🌜🖤

      I do believe that the Christian Faith took over the pagan holidays, so it is the other way about.
