This is from his double album Sign O the Times. I saw this concert live in Oakland, CA. It was amazing. Sheila E was on drums, but Sheena Easton sadly was not there. Prince was at his height creatively at this time. He had just got rid of all but one member of The Revolution so he had almost an all new band. His record company was already starting to get pissed that he was releasing so much music so quickly. This was like his 3 and 4th albums (double album) in less than 3 years. Lucky for him it was a success and head some great songs that were also radio friendly hits. I saw Prince many times, one time 3 times in one week in San Jose. He will always be the best live performer I have ever seen. RIP Purple One!
That’s Sheena Easton. Sheena Easton had many hits prior to her collaboration with Prince “but” her singing career and image went in a different direction when Prince wrote the song “Sugar Walls” for her under the pseudonym “Alexander Nevermind.” He also wrote the songs Eternity, Cool Love and 101 for Ms. Easton. And they did another collaboration called “The Arms Of Orion” on the Batman soundtrack by Prince.

I remember in the 80s wondering Wait a sec, the Sugar Walls lyrics were sung from a female perspective but a man wrote it, soooo it confused me - I was under 18. But now I assume they hooked up, he "got into her mind"😆 and that's how Sugar Walls became a song 😆

When the single came out for 'U Got The Look' Prince's name was the only thing on that so maybe that's what people are talking about. I mean she's in the music video singing duet. She's credited for guest appearance, vocals,backup vocals and some composing on Sign O' The Times album.

The video is shot using the scenography of the Sign O’ The Times tour. So all the ”crazy stuff” and the cast of musicians and dancers are part of that production. The concert movie of that tour is a one of a kind experience. Madly entertaining, and unsurpassed, in my view.
You said Sheila E. This is Sheena Easton who had a long career. She's had many hits. Sugar Walls is one of her best.
You should check out Partyman from the Batman Soundtrack. Also there is a long-form version of the video that is too funky and takes a funny jab at Michael Jackson and his pet monkey Bubbles.

Agree 1000%. Purple Rain will always be the top seller of albums sold in sales but Sign O The Times was to many his best most well crafted album
@@michaelcoffey1991 Purple Rain was definitely the album that was most accessible to the largest audience possible, but Sign as a whole piece of work is superior IMO

Prince was a genius. He played all instruments on these tracks.. Yes ... All... And you're right, he was influenced by gospel... "Purple Rain" is a Gospel-Rock love song.

There is a longer version of this song called U Got The Look (Long Look) it runs 6:40. It incorporates this music video opening but has a different bridge about midway through and the ending doesn't fade out.
Yes this is still one of my favorite songs of his and of Sheena Easton's. Such a cool vibe. This isn't the only Prince/Sheena collaboration. You should react to Sheena Easton's song "SUGARWALLS", a song written for her by Prince. P.S. He says "Boy versus girl in the World Series of love". That's the line he says.

This clip is still incredible today (shots and editing are fabulous) and a "break" during the Sign of the Times concert (that's why he's dreaming it...), still the best Prince movie ! Sheena Easton also did the title song of JB's - For Your Eyes Only...

Prince worked a lot with Sheena Easton. They also did a beautiful duet 'Arms of Orion' which was on the Batman album. They wrote it together but yet again Sheena isn't credited as duet partner. It must be a Prince thing. Prince also wrote a song 101 for Sheena which for me is her best vocal performance ever.

Fun Fact: Sheila E's brother Pete Escovedo is the real father of Nicole Ritchie who was raised by Lionel Ritchie. Nicole was hilarious in the TV show The Simple Life and is credited with Paris Hilton also on the show for making famous quotes like "That's Hot" and "Loves It".

Nicely done ✅ this song + this video perfectly described Generation X. Not to make this long. But the 80’s were chaotic and we loved every year of the 80’s. Prime was able to pull many groups into his music. Not meaning race but meaning those that would listen to other genres. And 🎶“it’s you’ve got the look, you’ve got the hook”🎶 last kids I watched wasn’t even rhythm. Anyways nice job.
