Prince was probably the most talented person of the 20th century. Seriously. Man could play 20 different instruments (his electric guitar skills were insane) and was a master of singing, songwriting, dancing, and lovemaking. He was the reincarnation of Porfirio Rubirosa. A latin playboy endowed with a ladykiller so extraordinary that they literally named the restaurant-style pepper mill after him. Unafraid of social mores, Prince pushed the limits and... Okay, that's enough. I'm an atheist male who refuses to pray to any deity but... I posthumously worship Prince to this day.
I wish you could have met him in person and sat down with him during the latter part of his career before he died. My wife and I were fortunate to do so. He would have respected your beliefs. Whereas he accepted the impact of his celebrity status on many, he didn't vibe well with people idolizing him. While in our company he literally told someone who referred to him as a celebrity to rather "celebrate the craft, not me. But worship your Creator who blessed me these talents- Jehovah God"
NicknLex....just to get an idea of how huge Prince was. Upon his death France turned the Eiffle Tower purple in his honor, "Los Angeles City Hall is decorated with purple lights in memory of Prince. The music industry, nation and world took time to memorialize Prince in the best way through his signature color: purple."

Mourners gathered outside Buckingham Palace as a double rainbow formed overhead."
Prince played 27 instruments, wrote , produced , engineed, acted , directed and handled the majority of the business aspect of his business. He was a activists for other musicians as well as himself. Yes he danced and designed most of his cloths. Prince sang and played every instrument on his first two albums. Having known him personally he was beautiful inside and out . He has my love and respect as long as I draw breath. #peaceandstaywild
His live performance at the Superbowl was something else. He was told by his team that there was a huge downpour of rain and lightening and they asked him about canceling the show he said you know what I want. I want it to rain harder. He performed it anyway. The dancers in high heels were sliding all over on the stage and all the electrical crew and others were worried about getting electricuted... Prince did not skip a beat... Definately one of the top Superbowl performances ever!
Over time I've developed huge respect for Prince. The comparison to Michael Jackson was probably natural in the 80s, but ultimately Prince is quite different. Stylistically more versatile, writer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and performer. An incredible talent who could take a minimalist idea and turn it into something very exciting. And please, get your arm checked. One never knows about long-time issues.
Nice reaction guys! Seeing that you guys like guitar songs (mainly Nick), here's a link to Prince playing one of the 27 instruments that he has mastered. You forgot to forwarn them, that many a soul has lowered themselves down into that rabbit hole, and then cut the line back to the top because they couldnt stop wondering throughout the purple labyrinth that is known as PRINCE. It is a great place to be!!
What?! Never heard Kiss?!! Oh my....don't get me started about the Prince era in my life. Love this cut. Delighted that you two have it in your memory bank now. I'll bet you never forget it.
Ooh if you start doing Prince I’m all over it. You MUST do When Doves Cry. And Sign O’ The Times. And Paisley Park. And Joy in Repetition. And Take Me With You. And DMSR. And Darling Nikki. And Lets Pretend We’re Married. And Let’s Work. And 1999. And Alphabet Street. And…oh shit this list could go on and on. Just enjoy the funky ride!
So many songs. I would have to say the enormous amount of songs out there thus far that you can stream and and that were on his albums, that output is probably less than a 10th of what this man wrote and recorded. And I am NOT kiddin. Google it for yourself- several sources reveal that in his vault are stored about 8000 hidden treasures from him socked away in there just waiting to be handed to the public. Back in the late 1970's Warner Bros studio had no idea that they were about to unleash a Frankenstein's Monster onto the world. A little Monster named PRINCE
The video is fun to watch, he played all instruments except for the snippets where Wendy Melvoine's guitar work. It will take you years to watch his live shows. He is fantastic.
The big Prince - MJ rivalry was fueled by the press in the 80s. They both respected each other. Prince was a musician as well as an entertainer. Many of his albums were all him, instruments, vocals and production.
You guys could spend a year easily reacting to Prince. Purple Rain, 1999, When Doves Cry, Little Red Corvette, please react to them all!! He was a true musical genius.
You guys should check out the official videos when it comes to Prince. His performance skills are unmatched. Prince is like a one man army. He literally does everything. He taught himself to play over 20 instruments and can sing in 4 1/2 octaves. Check out Let's Go Crazy next (official video) Its a great funk/rock/pop/new wave jam!💜
The 1985 concert in Syracuse had some epic performances like "let's go crazy" and "purple rain". Prince's Superbowl halftime show in 2007 is the greatest of all time. His covers of "creep", "motherless child" and "play that funky music white boy/Inglewood swinging" are must sees. That's just the beginning.
"You don't have to watch 'Dynasty' to have an attitude." A very of the Era lyric! (if you don't know American TV in the '80s!) (It's so good to see you two together!)
Have a lot of respect for prince as an artist! He had so many ideas, styles and was a fantastic musician! I think it would be cool for you to do more reactions to him for sure!!
I saw him live in 1987, Stockholm, and it’s to this day the second best concert I’ve been to. Out of this world. It was the ”Sign O’ The Times” Tour. I think it was his peak. That megashow, those musicians. I had my jaw dropped to the floor through the whole thing while dancing in my chair.
Prince is my favorite artist ever! I loved your reaction and excitement for this song. He was so different on every album. React to the song I'm Yours from his 1978 debut album For You.
Now, you have to go watch the video...or look for a live version -- even better! He was all about performance and fantastic guitar solos and dance and style and...He absolutely commanded the stage. His videos are actually restrained in comparison. "Baby, I'm a Star" live is a good one or look on UA-cam for his appearances at Montreux Jazz Festival. He always worked with the best musicians which meant they could follow his lead and throw down the jazzier improvisations.
#nicknlexrequest Kiss is one of Prince's biggest funky hits, but the ultimate slice of Prince funk is Housequake. The guitar solo is by Wendy Melvoin. You should definitely check out Wendy & Lisa (Coleman)'s music (Honeymoon Express, Are You My Baby, Why Wait For Heaven, All Nite and Sweet Suite (Beginning At The End) are a good spread of their musical variety).
Great reaction NicknLex. it’s a big rabbit hole. For his sheer musicality and swag I would check out the video performance from the all Star performance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Its jaw dropping guitar solo ann epic performance. Then there is a whole lot more an amazing catalog. ❤️❤️
One thing Prince mastered, was silence. Unlike the "wall of sound" big from Motown, Prince would put pops of silence, which keep you glued to the song. Way back in the days of iMacs, I used the first guitar riff and "kiss!" or "oooh" whatever he says at the very beginning, as my computer "you did something wrong" sound. Wish I could still do that.
This song was originally suppose to go to Mazarati, one of his other bands, but he changed his mind, took the bass line out of it and put it on his soundtrack for Under the Cherry Moon. (Parade)
Prince gave this song to one of his bands. They worked on it all day. Prince came in took it for the night. The next day he told them the don’t deserve this and that’s wat u have.

I miss him so much I can’t even listen to him anymore. And that was after 35 years of Chasing the man. His death broke me so hard that now I have to listen to heavy-metal to heal…and now I’m obsessed with love craft and Metallica.
This is a great reaction love when musician lovers react. I would suggest if you do decide to react to Prince in just audio & not video, i highly recommend listening to him with his lyrics. He was a master lyrcist as well.
This is off the movie motion picture soundtrack Parade -Under the Cherry Moon which has some other great songs, Mountains & Need Another Lover Like Hole in Head...also not a bad movie, hes actually not a bad actor as well
I fell on an icy parking lot last Sunday... I’m fine but sore. Thankful at 55 I didn’t break a hip! I can relate to your fall scare! Bruised but still moving on! 😊
MJ actually announced on a TV show that he didn't name his son after the singer Prince, rather, in his family tree back in time there was an ancestor with the name Prince. Someone on UA-cam did the Jackson genealogy on the Jackson family and indeed there is a person named Price. Which makes me feel these two people were meant to meet somehow.
The entire Purple Rain album is a must react to, as well as the 1999 album. And as good as the videos on some of those songs are, unfortunately they are heavily edited, so the album versions of the songs are the must listen to versions👍🏼
Cool reaction. He got the basic guitar from a 1930 s blues record. He gave the song to s band mate to start a new band, they finished the song, prince told them to go get something to eat and put the finishing touches on it. In. Three hours he redid the whole song and said 'im keeping this for myself" u will enjoy the music video. You will dig the extended version of kids, it turns into two different songs. This is it ua-cam.com/video/84KAVLm55ns/v-deo.htmlsi=IIhuudlFDbMpiAFD Definitely watch the purple rain movie, it LL put the songs in better context
Prince and MJ didn’t have an actual rivalry. Janet’s Jackson’s producers were Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Prince’s lifelong friends and members of the band “The Time” that often toured with Prince.
@@you2449 He fired them because they did it behind his back. The story is that he was also proud of them and made it known, then the group reformed and the friendship never suffered, according to Jerome.🤷🏾♂️
I have just subscribed in the hope of more Prince reactions 💜 He’s my favourite artist of all time. The greatest all round artist there has ever been. I saw you react to Joni Mitchell. Did you realise Prince was a huge Joni fan? He went to see her when he was about 15 years old and used to write her fan letters. He loved her. He covered ‘A Case of You’ many times. In 2002 he recorded it with him on the piano and it was on his beautiful piano album called One Nite Alone. Definitely worth a listen. He also covered a short excerpt from the song at First Avenue in 1983 … that’s my favourite 💜 just search Prince, A case of you, and both the ones I’ve mentioned should come up. Prince could do everything. Write, play multiple instruments at virtuoso level, sing close to 6 octaves, he could arrange, mix, engineer and produce all his own music. His first 5 albums are just him on his own. He could dance, act and was a businessman running his empire. He was also a fashion icon and a very very sexy man too! If I could choose the perfect man, it would be him. A truly exceptional human being. More Prince please 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 just a warning …Princes catalogue is so vast, you could be down the rabbit hole for years! He released literally over 1000 songs and that’s only about 10% of what he wrote! And that is the honest truth.
while this would not be my choice for an introduction to prince, it does represent a timeframe of a master. having said that, i really don't know what i would choose for you guys to first hear... the cliche is anything from purple rain. i think i would start with dirty mind. regardless, be diverse in your choices, his music is every music.
I always regarded Prince as the more intellectual elder brother of Michael Jackson, always a bit more humour, which is totally absent in Michael Jackson, more provocative, and groovy like hell! 😅
Check out that arm/elbow please.. there is a lot that that area has to do, a lot of critical nerves etc. "sprains and strains" as well as fractures can be problematic to heal properly after injury. (and yes, I can truly sympathize with loss of mobility, having two shoulder surgeries that each required sling for 6 weeks plus therapy) Prince is SUCH an amazing musician/composer etc. and his band mates were always top-notch. He often hired women musicians (and his recording engineer was a woman) Check out Wendy and Lisa (from his band "The Revolution" MASSIVE guitar, keyboard and vocal skills and contributions! Prince was amazing even in interviews!
I've had multiple back surgeries and what has helped me the most with the pain is Bio-freeze roll on pain reliever, it's what the physical therapist used after my back surgeries, it's like a Ben Gay but it's not like Ben Gay, it's way better, Lex, I promise you it will help your arm, I hope you feel better soon, I'm so sorry you fell and got hurt, my prayers are with you.
You can’t do this song without watching the video because he is a true performer and another reactor said it great that prince can steal your girl away, and he can also steal your guy. He is just sexuality personified.

I fell on an icy parking lot last Sunday... I’m fine but sore. Thankful at 55 I didn’t break a hip! I can relate to your fall scare! Bruised but still moving on! 😊
What Michael and Prince rivalry? I don't recall this and I lived through it😂 they're both very different styles and we loved them both.
Michael's mother said her father's (Michael's grandfather) name was Prince. He grandfather also had vitiligo.
The entire Purple Rain album is a must react to, as well as the 1999 album.
And as good as the videos on some of those songs are, unfortunately they are heavily edited, so the album versions of the songs are the must listen to versions👍🏼
Great reaction! You guys should react to every song you mentioned on that list. That's a good starting point.
This is it

Definitely watch the purple rain movie, it LL put the songs in better context
The backing vocals are him!
I had just become a daddy for the first time. Must play this to my grandchildren now.
Prince and MJ didn’t have an actual rivalry. Janet’s Jackson’s producers were Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Prince’s lifelong friends and members of the band “The Time” that often toured with Prince.
Prince considered it a stab in the back that Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis left him. He could be quite petty about things.
@@you2449 He fired them because they did it behind his back. The story is that he was also proud of them and made it known, then the group reformed and the friendship never suffered, according to Jerome.🤷🏾♂️
You should definitely listen to The Most Beautiful Girl In The World by Prince too, this song will blow ur minds!!!! ( I genuinely loved the reaction)
We will do definitely lots more of Prince! Such an amazing artist💜
hey guys, check out Sheila E's song "Love Bizaar" Prince wrote the song for her and sings backup, Nick and Lex, you will love it.
So glad you’re better, Nick. Strong immune system! Yes, Prince. I was surprised when Tom Jones covered this with Art of Noise. 😽💖
To me Prince and Stevie Wonder are the most prolific artists ever. Nobody can do what they do.
Wow, I've written this b4. I whole-heartedly agree.
Prince is one of the best guitarists EVER! Dig deeper into his music.
Lex I hope your left arm heals fast and you get all your range of motion back!
while this would not be my choice for an introduction to prince, it does represent a timeframe of a master. having said that, i really don't know what i would choose for you guys to first hear... the cliche is anything from purple rain. i think i would start with dirty mind. regardless, be diverse in your choices, his music is every music.
He has many complex songs, but are more obscure like Crystal Ball and the program song, 3 Chains Of Gold.
Love Prince ❤ Tom Jones did a good and popular cover of Kiss.
There’s so many Prince gems to discover! I look forward to watching your Prince reactions. He was IMHO the GOAT. 😊
You guys take care!! Winter sucks.
I always regarded Prince as the more intellectual elder brother of Michael Jackson, always a bit more humour, which is totally absent in Michael Jackson, more provocative, and groovy like hell! 😅
You guys are back, baby!!
check out his movie Purple Rain, you guys will be blown away.
Maybe my favorite song from him. So danceable! (Tom Jones recorded this song, too, and it is kinda awesome.)
Thank you for your insight! I promise to do so!
I have been using bio freeze for years!! Love the roller and spray! Thank you for your kind words and support! 💗 ✨
@@NicknLex you're welcome
saludoa chicos desde argentina los extranaba cariños!!!!
You can’t do this song without watching the video because he is a true performer and another reactor said it great that prince can steal your girl away, and he can also steal your guy. He is just sexuality personified.
