You got to go some of the train shows. Picked up multiple boxes of track Tyco Aurora, old Atlas believe it or not they made it. Was cheap I think I paid 10 bucks a box. Controllers and power pack good luck
That's cool. In the 80's I had a big AFX track that covered 4 sheets of plywood! Those cars are wicked fast and the track had high bank turns which really let you push the cars to the LIMIT!!! Thanks for sharing your sweet layout.
I won an AFX set at Woolworths by counting Sugar Babies in a big jar. (Flame throwers with lights!) Debbie, the girl with me when I entered the contest asked if she could use my guess & go from there. I told her fine, doesn't matter. My Aurora AFX set was 2nd place. She won a new Toyota pickup! Story of my life. Btw it was at Parkway Plaza in El Cajon, Ca.
I had about 1500 feet of HO scale aurora track and a slew of G plus cars.4 big suitcases full. I gave it to a buddy whose wife just delivered a son as my kids were all grown and I got tired of carrying it around. This is a very nice track!
Oh man, I grew up with slot cars and just from watching this I can smell that distinctive aroma that comes from the motors and tracks. Isn’t grease involved too? This is awesome.
After watching this video I proceeded to watch a few videos for an hour on slot cars ending on Amazon where I was checking prices of a decent size track! 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
When we were kids my brother and I had a track. He planned it all out so that there were an equal number of left and right curves, so no car had an advantage whether on the inner or outer track. He also refused to put the rear pins under the cars (I can see you have them installed here) because they made it impossible for the cars to fishtail off the track when taking curves at full speed. He said that was unrealistic and considered it cheating.
Same with us....no rear pins. My neighbor and I had Aurora ThunderJet 500 HO scale. We probably spent more time hopping up the cars than what we did racing...but we had 25, 50 and 100 lap races. We hd such a large track that we had to run jumper wires from the main terminal track to another piece of terminal track half way around the circuit.
Yeah! Rear pins make it boring, not only do they stop you being able to do crazy drifts round wide radius corners, but they stop cars from preforming hilarious crashes from flying of corners at high speed. Also, they make it to easy, because you can’t accidentally hit a turn to fast.
That is a dream set up. I didn't have anything close to that, but I had larger slot cars (maybe 8 or 9 inches long, I think) that I would take down to a local hobby shop (we had 3 in our local area) on the weekends to race on their large setup. And I have to agree with NJA below. Just watching this bring back memories of the aroma the electrical motors used to give off.
Brings back my childhood. As I got older I needed more power. Car battery did the trick. Your wall outlet runs on 15 to 20 amps. A car battery can push as low as 550 to over 1000 amps. The tires would smoke on the car, it was a lot of fun but very dangerous. It will also wear out the motor faster.
I used to love those H.O. scale slot cars as a kid! Good show man!

Pretty cool. I had an Aurora set back when I was a kid (many years ago), and it was nowhere as advanced as this. We also had an indoor track in town for 1/24th scale slot cars...was a great way to kill an afternoon.
I had a huge track back in the late 80’s and I bought a lot of straight away track and high bank curve pieces and made a huge daytona track , it was amazing the outside lane full throttle the whole track !!!!!!!!
