My uncle has a 97 Chevy stepside came with a v6.he rebuilt a 350 4 bolt mane and he put it right in. Only thing he did was find a TBI intake to fit the motor and v8 manifolds. He kept the same throttle body from the v6 and it's riding like a champ .
You mean he had to find a Vortec Intake which setup with spider injection as TBI will not work on 1996 an up and can not directly swap a V6 to V8 as wire harnesses are different so is the computer firmware becuase of additional wires to control the spider fuel injection with V8

I have a 1994 5.7 4x4 5 speed frame is bad from up north. Bought a 1998 4x4 5 speed with 4.3 vortec solid frame and body. Looks like I swap motors, radiators and some wiring. Both are work truck editions so stick 4x4 shift also

How bout leave springs and stuff that’s all ok? Because I was told you’d have to change them for a 454 swap. That’s all ok with a 350?
the 4.3 computer may work, but it won't be right. As someone who programs one of these computers on my truck, I can tell you the tune is set to a specific number of cylinders. The fueling and timing may not be great. You can pull the two chips from a 5.7 computer (there are different 5.7s) and place them in the 4.3 computer. One chip is for the limp mode tune, one is for the running tune. A computer from the same year should plug right in. I use a computer from a 2500 van on my 4.3 truck.

@@NightshiftCustom you don't need to be like every one else in the sheep crowd and LS swap everything in sight. LS engines have valvetrain problems and leak everywhere. Modern small block chevy cylinder heads flow amazing numbers and match that with a better camshaft you have stock LS power or more without having to retrofit the vehicle. No raspy high pitch sound offered by the ls either. Lots of options.
@@shootermcgavin2819 already have a LQ4 6.0L out of my Denali that makes way more power easily then any 350 small block Just need a turbo or 2 and it will really wake her up And the only leak its ever had is the exhaust manifolds lol

What engine mounts did you use. the 4.3 has thre rubber mounts bolted to the engine and adaptors that push the motor back. I am lookiing at putting the mounts from the 43 block onto the frame of the truck, where did you get the steel mounts to bolt to the engine?
yo bro i just did this swap i had a 1994 4.3l tbi with nv3500 and put a 1990 5.7 tbi in it i used the 4.3 harness and ecu but changed the chip to a 5.7l with 4l60e transmission should i just use my old chip?
1994-95 TBI computers were different from 1988-93 that's why it wouldn't connect to the harness. Is it still running well? Have you changed anything over the last couple of years? I'm about to start gathering parts to swap my 94 4.3L to a 5.7L tbi, and keeping the NV3500 transmission. If I can get away with just changing fuel injectors that'd be great. I don't really want to dive into the world of GM OBD1 tuning; I have too many projects as it is.

Got a carbed 350 from a 95 k1500 need to swab it into a 99 suburban that has the vortec intake so it has efi can I swap em motor in the suburban has spun bearings
1987 to 1993 TBI engines do not have a cam and crank sensor that must be why he didn't need to swap the ecu for the 1990 engine. 1994 and 1995 has a cam and crank sensor. the ECU will have a different timing for the V8 vs the V6, which will be determined by the tune on the ecu.
Hey, I have a 89 k1500 I want to drop a 350 into it. I wish you were around to help me do it. Do you have any information, like videos and websites, you can share to help me do this myself? I have worked on many of my own vehicles I just need a guide. I was hoping to be able to get rid of the tbi system...have you heard of anyone who was able to do that?
@@ANDERSONEXPRESS7 needed a compressor and it was like 15 bucks for the delete pulley but eventually going to put a compressor back on it and get the ac working
you rigth you can swap the TBI v6 to TBI v8 88 thru 91 without much to change but if have a spider injection v6 or 4.3l you can not you can do this with automatics too however be aware that the V6 transmission it's not built as strong as the V8 so you may want to swap to 700R4 or rebuild your 700R4/4L60
@@blockheadgarage7790 Vortec v6 come out 95 in the Astro vans I know I had one and it was all-wheel drive and had spider injection keep in mind that 91 thru 95 trucks had some change as I have 1988 C2500 and in 96 the V8 Vortec come out you can adapt them to accept TBI injection with rigth parts
@@SHSPVR the motor I swapped in is out of a 94 they are the same till 95.and you will have to swap the whole wiring harness if you want to use a vortec they are a lot different
@@blockheadgarage7790 No with the Vortex 350 from 1996 to 2002 they to can be swapped into older vehicles all you need to do is change the intake manifold with a standard Vortec Carburetor Intake than all you need to is get TBI adapter that bolt right on top of the intake manifold. And what I am referring to is the Vortec 4.3 that comes with spider injection system you cannot easy swap too V8 motor because it dosen't have additional wires to make all of injectors work and few other thing and still need V8 computer unlike the early OBD 1.

I have a 1994 5.7 4x4 5 speed frame is bad from up north. Bought a 1998 4x4 5 speed with 4.3 vortec solid frame and body. Looks like I swap motors, radiators and some wiring. Both are work truck editions so stick 4x4 shift also

I didn’t do anything with the suspension

When you swap the mounts are the bolt holes already there and tapped? Also can you use the 4.3 clam shells on the 350?
No there are nuts on the back side and you have to go up Who were the bottom a arm bolt to the frame and no the 4.3s sit back about 3 inches

They came with the motor, call around to some junk yards they will have them

I think the 4.3 flywheel will work but I would get a new one and a new clutch. Might as well since you have the motor out.

Shouldn’t be too hard to swap it and you will have to get a different intake manifold if you want to get rid of the tbi
