You have mentioned the gear ratio difference in these trucks a couple of times. Here's an easy way to tell your ratio. Open the glove box and look for the RPO code. For rear axle ratio, look for this: GU6= 3.42. GU4= 3.08 GU2= 2.73 GT4= 3.73 This is from memory from my days as a tech at Chevrolet. Both of your trucks will most likely have one of the first three I listed. Keep up the good work!
You can get the frame mounts with a couple extensions and a swivel no need to pull the a arms off. I got my v6 mounts out and v8 mounts in like that never even had my truck off the ground.

I swapped out my 305 for a 4 bolt 350. I did a ton of tbi mods. I put a 454 tbi body that has bigger ports. Stock tbi ports are 1 5/8" & flows 420 cfm. A 454 tbi has 2" ports & flows about 800 cfm. My 454 tbi was mobbed to 2 1/8" ports & flowed 1100 cfm. It's all about air in & air out. I also opened up the intake to match the 454 tbi ports. Also had shorty gidson headers & 3" y pipe. Both should be TBI so it's pretty easy. You need the V8 big block frame side mounts. You'll need a trans that can take the V8 abuse (4L80E) and then you'll need the ECU. The front accessory brackets should bolt up but you might need the big block brackets. Travis, I have a question for you, I have a 96 obs (pictured) it has a 2/4 drop I really wanna lower it 4/6, but I don't want it to ride like a tank. How does an obs ride with a 4/6 drop?

Travis Campbell Man thank you so much for answering my question. I'm totally on board with it after your comment. I've watched alot of your vids and they are great, you know alot about these trucks!
Travis Campbell something I forgot to mention, I heard about alot of vibration issues with a 4/6 drop on an extended cab, do you know how true this is? I appreciate you taking the time to answer my first question.
No problem man ! I will admit you might get some shake with the extended cab.. only reason I have a little bit of shake is probably because I’m running such a huge wheel in the back and a small one up front. The pinion shims will help a lot with the pinion angle... one thing I did add that I forgot to mention. Use pinion shims under the rear axle if needed. It helped me out a lot with that vibration.
Travis Campbell Thank you for the information. That's my worry, I'm going to be doing an ls swap before long and it worries me about the shake. I can lighten the load of shake, but that shake will probably be worse after dropping in an ls3 with the much needed extra power.
Hey travis, sweet build.. that truck is super nice.. I just recently 70s SBC swapped my 4.3 '88 Stepside 5 speed and it runs great but for some reason my speedo doesn't work and my oil pressure guage jumps around even though I'm running a mechanical guage.. I'm kinda stumped could you by chance tell me what you did with the wires? Appreciate that and Merry Christmas!
You’ll need to reuse all the stock speed sensor components for the NV3500 and also the factory sensor for oil pressure at the back of the block. The coolant temp should also be re used from the factory harness. If you still have nothing I would open the cover on the firewall and make sure something isn’t loose or removed. I am still running the stock computer with mine so everything looks factory. Merry Christmas man!
If I recall they should have the same bolt pattern. I would swap the clutch and flywheel to the stock 5.3 be the 4.3. I assume you have an NV3500.. great trans you’ll be just fine with a mild built 5.3.

Would a 1975 350 be made to work in a 1989 chevy with a 4.3 ? Will the transmission from the 4.3 bolt up to the 1975 350? thanks for any help you can give me
Not sure if it’s been addressed in a different video but do you know if the factory 5 speed for a v6 will mate to a 5.3 and will it run fine or will I need to regear the rear?
Same question. I got a 1994 v6 silverado manual transmission. I'd like to know if I only need to get an engine swap or both engine and transmission swapped.
No. The 4l60e will still work. I have a 5.7 with a 4l60 myself. The 4l80e is just a stronger and more reliable option. But as long as your careful . U will b fine. My 4l60e has 278,000 original miles no rebuilds. And its been connected to my 5.7 350 v8 its entire life. And its towed trailers countless times.
Another great video with awsome content. Do you guys have a number that you can be reached at? I reached out to you about you guys doing LS swaps and wanna get some info over the phone if possible.
Those engine mounts are cheap at the parts house, brand new. Also, you may not need "that" rats nest coz you are running HEI distributor with a carburetor & just a fuel pressure regulator & fuel return to RUN your, project. Someone who LSx/LT1, swaps, will "require" more, wiring. In comparing your explanation(s) to that truck & the quality of that, build? Something tells me there's an honest chance you paid somebody to build that, truck? (Most) guys who work on vehicles in a regular basis are more informed about their "parts" and "pieces." The last time I changed frame mounts I paid like 5ish bucks each, new. The clam shell in the engine was like 8ish bucks each. Also 2 different parts stores back in the, 90's. No disrespect intended amongst cat guys. I love your, project. Wait til you get sick of project vehicles. After that, then have children. Otherwise, they will SIT!

If I recall they should have the same bolt pattern. I would swap the clutch and flywheel to the stock 5.3 be the 4.3. I assume you have an NV3500.. great trans you’ll be just fine with a mild built 5.3.
I have an 85 GMC Sierra that I want to go from v6 to 6.0. Does anyone know of any videos or anything that I can get some info on to get more detail about it
I can recommend using the accel pump with your sending unit. You can find it on holleys site. Makes 60PSI.. good for 900na and 700 with boost
Travis Campbell thanks for the replied bother. Love your truck
Thanks man ! Check out my video on my Holley sniper install. Talks about the pump and shows the install. It’s a breeze 🤙
Travis Campbell definitely will brother hope it goes smooth
Would a 1975 350 be made to work in a 1989 chevy with a 4.3 ? Will the transmission from the 4.3 bolt up to the 1975 350? thanks for any help you can give me
Yes this will bolt up. I did the same thing here
@@DAGOLFER34 That great . Thank you for the information .
On this truck, what happened to the O2 sensors? Thinking of doing the dual exhaust like yours.
When I swapped the truck I ditched all the O2 sensors it’s a carb now
What V8 did you swap in?
It’s a 327
Will the v6 drive shaft fit in a v8 transmission?
Everything worked 🤙
Are you using carb ??
Appears so
Hey Travis, what radiator, fan setup and brackets did you use on the muscle truck? Thanks!
It’s a flex a lite fan with some brackets that we fabricated. It’s running a stock V8 radiator.. stays nice and cool
Travis Campbell Thanks! Truck looks good!
I’m having a motor mount problem i get one to line up and the other side off by 2 inches what mounts did you use for the v8 swap
Let me know about mount
Ronnie Roach it was the wrong mounts i ordered the ones off jegs and slid right in
@@Dntmesswittx713 they slid right into factory rubber mounts
Not sure if it’s been addressed in a different video but do you know if the factory 5 speed for a v6 will mate to a 5.3 and will it run fine or will I need to regear the rear?
same question i have.
Same question. I got a 1994 v6 silverado manual transmission. I'd like to know if I only need to get an engine swap or both engine and transmission swapped.
Thinking of swapping out a 4.3 to a 5.7 on a 98 Cheyenne, will I need to switch the 4L60e transmission to a 4L80
My 98 Cheyenne has 283k miles still runs good but has started slamming into gear.
That 4-3 ain’t nothing but a piece of shit anyway! To this day I haven’t been able to figure out why it’s running hot!
Hey I was wondering what color is your truck? Looks really nice!
truck look killer, what setup wheels you running
They are MB old school wheels.. 20s and 18s
Travis , thank you 18x8 from right
What v8 is in the black truck
What do you call the paint color on the v8
Hey dude will a 96 to 98 vortex 350 bolt right up to that same transmission the nv3500
The bell housing pattern is the same on all GM 90 degree engines so it should work
I need an immediate reply lol . Have any of y’all had any issues with your 4.3s running hot replaced EVERYTHING and still couldn’t fix the problem?
Ya, you can wire in and extra fan and that will solve it, checking the radiator is plugged
I’d swap it to a v8 if I could those trucks were built cheap it seems!
Is there somewhere I get printed steps for this swap
So what did you do with the motor mounts ?
I have a v6 and will convert v8
I really wanna rebuild rhe 262 v6 in my 1994 cheyenne 1500
Me too. Mines still going though with 283k miles.
What fan set up are running on the v8
It’s a flex a lite fan.
@@DAGOLFER34 is it the 15" with a fan shroud
Yessir it is ! Can’t remember the part number but it got it from summit. It works great
I ls1 swaped my 97 chevy k1500
Tommy Corbitt how much was that ?
How much ??
Talk about your red Camaro...and the black 5th Gen I see in your videos
Another great video with awsome content. Do you guys have a number that you can be reached at? I reached out to you about you guys doing LS swaps and wanna get some info over the phone if possible.
Did you still use the same 5 speed transmission from the 4.3 v6 with the new 327??? Engine
yes he did
What engine is this?
Anyone have a clue for a cam for my 94 Silverado 350 5.7 keep in mind Iam in California
Joseph Altamirano dude just get a dirty smog otherwise you’re just throwing money away
What's a dirty smog?
thank you for dissuading me.
Ho buddy did u had to change the computer out from a v6 to a v8 computer
I’m all Holley EFI now so I have a new standalone computer. In this video I’m still on the stock ECU.
@@DAGOLFER34 ok thanks
What’s the paint color code ??
It’s a factory color but Toyota magnetic gray is really really close
I was asking about the green Chevy color I’m trying to get it to paint my truck
Oh my bad ! I’d have to check the color code on the glove box it’s a factory color also
That would be awesome thanks man
327 high reving motor
Do you have a video on everything you did to the wiring harness?
I have a recent upload with EFI that talks a little about it but I hid all the old wires
Ok I’ll look at it. You did use the factors harness right? You didn’t rip it out and put another in did you?
Yes I used tge factory harness to power the EFI. All my stock gauges are functional too
Ok thanks man
Hello my friend I have a truck it's a Chevy 1991 I have a 6 on it I need more power
Dyno the black truck
That’s my plan after I install the Holley sniper
Those engine mounts are cheap at the parts house, brand new. Also, you may not need "that" rats nest coz you are running HEI distributor with a carburetor & just a fuel pressure regulator & fuel return to RUN your, project. Someone who LSx/LT1, swaps, will "require" more, wiring.
In comparing your explanation(s) to that truck & the quality of that, build? Something tells me there's an honest chance you paid somebody to build that, truck?
(Most) guys who work on vehicles in a regular basis are more informed about their "parts" and "pieces."
The last time I changed frame mounts I paid like 5ish bucks each, new. The clam shell in the engine was like 8ish bucks each. Also 2 different parts stores back in the, 90's. No disrespect intended amongst cat guys. I love your, project. Wait til you get sick of project vehicles. After that, then have children. Otherwise, they will SIT!
What exhaust did you put on the green truck?
It’s a flowmaster 40 series
@@DAGOLFER34 would've been nice to hear it
