Spiders can be quite particular about their surroundings I found. I used to have a large female Lasiodora parahybana which spent a significant amount of time in a clear plastic box about the size of a medium sized shoebox. I decided because she could pretty much touch the sides if she stretched out sideways, she was getting a bigger tank. Wasn't massively bigger, but she had space to stretch more if she wanted to. She became very 'quiet' and wasn't really eating much. Eventually I put her back in the small clear box and bam, back to eating well and looking good.
Now, the question Is.. Are all wild tarantulas stressed??
No and yes. Depends on the size but for the most part. Unlike spiders that have been bred in captivity these ones are used to being outside. There's a reason why you're never supposed to wild catch a tarantula or any animal/insect to keep as a pet.
A better way to understand is to compare the locations they choose for themselves in nature. The vast majority of them will specifically choose areas with natural barriers around it to feel safer and less exposed. Natural barriers can include fallen logs, large rocks, small openings inside of rocky ledges, stumps, hollowed out tree trunks... They purposely choose places that are small so that predators can't reach them as easily. Like even in the large tank you can see the tarantula burrowed out a very narrow tunnel to create it's own smaller area in the too large space.
@@Cassiopea525 That brings up the question, even though its in a large enclosure, there are a lot of hiding places for the tarantula, so why is it still stressed?
Could we compare it with cats? Like indoor and outside cats? Some are literally not supposed to be outside because they dont have the same instincts….. might sound stupid but just a thought
@Juxielle tarantulas are not like that though. Many many of these tarantulas are still wild caught. How do they keep them in a tank. They don't care if it's in a large tank or small tank. As long as there are hiding spots for them.
My dad says an enclosure as big as his garage is perfect for a big spider.
I only keep my salmon birdeater in a large enclosure mainly because it’s just huge and needs the space. I kept it in a small (about 20x20cm) enclosure when it was a juvenile but then once it grew to half of that i moved it to a larger one so it just has space to roam around freely. I know she’s not stressed as she very rarely hides and as a skittish species, is extremely docile never showing any signs of agression
I have my juvenile salmon pink in a 26x26 and I’m dreading the day he needs rehousing because he’s so feisty 😂
I don't understand how a T gets stressed in a big tank when nature is the biggest tank
Many of them will specifically choose areas with natural barriers around it to feel safer and less exposed. So you could have a large tank, but would need to add those sort of natural barriers to make it feel safe.
Very well explained cassiopea525
@@Cassiopea525it's a fasorial tarantula anyway. They don't get stressed. This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Unless you have them in a completely empty tank. Then that would just be dumb.
@@wakingforbacon6439use your phone to Google it then. Maybe you could read about it more and see if you can understand further. Hopefully your a teenager because your arrogance would look pretty embarrassing to developed adults.
@@wakingforbacon6439Yes, they can and do get stressed. How dumb are you? lol.
I think she was actually really happy and that big room for her let her burrow deep and build side shafts for escape and ventilation. It’s a shame you had to dig up her home, but I’m glad you learnt she was actually growing and happy in that large enclosure, just hard to keep track of. All your basics are down pat, so you should have confidence if you don’t see them.
If I was shoved into a tank by a giant alien I'd be stressed too.
All my T's are in big tanks and they do perfectly fine. Only spider I have that's in a small enclosure is my western black widow.
Love your stuff bro
Hello! Here’s 2 questions
1. About the 9 year old leopard gecko that was passed by the old man, what happened to them?
2. Can we get an update on them? If they’re okay!
5:52 she just want to hug ❤ look at her raised paws
You go first
Love you vids man
Exotic lair I love ur vids keep going and have a good day 👍🏾
Yea, ive never had problems with big tanks. Obviously you dont want a super small T in a huge tank but ive never run into problems of not eating. Generally i will throw a couple down with my burrowers if they have not been out in a while. Never run into a problem with them starving to death.
Cool video bro
No mess 😊👍👍
looks lilw she been eating ok those were just some lucky survivors
I honestly think enclosure size depends on the species & individual tarantula. I have an around 3ft x 1ft enclosure for my b harmorri because she’s very active and seems to have no problem finding food (I have a food bowl for her so the roaches don’t burrow or hide under cork bark). I see her out of her web/cave 70% of the time. I used to keep her in a 12” by 12” and moved her because she kept climbing on the walls and ceiling. My P. Esmeralda on the other hand is barely out, I keep her in a 12” by 12” because she wouldn’t use a larger enclosure.
I have always used 5 and 10 gallon tanks ( species dependent ) with success. My stirm had a 15 gallon but that was an odd one.
Honestly man to allow for easier handling you should invest in a chest harness for a gopro / phone. Being able to use both your hands would be so much more valueable than the price it would cost for the harness.
This is going to be fun can't wait! 😂
Hold up did you just recommend forsorrials should adapt to terrestrial so you can minotor it? 😂😂
Rehousing spiders like they where tokay geckos meep meep!
I put my 3 phormictopus sp. In larger enclosure because they are molting every 5 weeks.
"She's about 4 inches"
Proceed the motion with his fingers 2 inches.. 😂😂😂
I've been watching you since I was a freshman in high school. That's 6 years now.
Ive got a pink toe and the enclosure is about 3 times bigger than its leg spand is that good or bad?
do you have a Monocentropus balfouni aka the blue jemen tarantula?
How do you make the backgrounds for your terrariums?
Dont know if shes even in there. Proceeds to open the door and turn his back on it.
You're the reason I have anxiety 😂😂😂
That was interesting, your animals always looked healthy though, and well taken care of.
Huh, that makes sense.
Is there a link for the enclosures? I would like to purchase
Wild tarantulas fighting for their lives, guys.
My LP Jameson loves his ten gallon tank. He is so sweet.🤓
Why would they get stressed by a large vs small enclosure? In the wild, there is no enclosure. If an animal is not eating well, one of the few indicators of possible stress we can observe, it can be for a number of reasons and does not necessarily prove they "don't like" the enclosure size.
I sleep to this stuff im not sure why but i do
help, I do too😭
Nice! 👍🏼
hey exotic how big are these terrariums? 20x20x20? is that enough von an adult spider (9cm) ?
whats the size of her new enclosure?
I'm no kind of spider-whisperer, but the only reason I can think of for keeping the Bluefang male in the female's enclosure is...if she IS preggers, she'll want a snack?
Why don't your tarantulas run straight out once you open the enclosure door?
How does this change really work? Yeah it's in a smaller enclosure, but the enclosure has alot more room for tunneling. He was worried because he couldn't monitor it. Now it has way more area to hide underground.
I was wondering the same thing, it has so much more room to hide now
haha i like how he was playing with her butt
turks of all sizes in there
She seemed just fine... Growing and had a thick abdomen... You basically did all this for no reason and caused an immense amount of stress. She's obviously eating with her abdomen being twice the size of her carapace...
BRUH....
I like your video.
I don't understand about enclosures cos how do they survive the wild if they don't like open spaces hmm
She definitely wasn't happy, but she probably will be after getting settled in her new tank!
I didn't realize how deep they could burrow like that!
Hi

Fun fact spiders can detect small signals like a phone focussing
see i never found that to be a thing if you think about it in the wild they just make a home and sit in it then roam for mating or bolt to make a new one if needed. Only thing is a sling in an adult enclosure unless you can see where they have setup it does make feeding harder but for adults im very against the too big idea.
Wut😮😮😢😅
Does anybody know Johnny Gilbert
I wouldn’t say I know him, I saw a few videos of him though. Why?
c'mon man...there's no reason to not get longer tools by now... you're just putting yourself in harms way

@@ZtagVrstfu, if they have, then that means they have, there are parents that put on stuff like this, that’s what makes little children find it intriguing, scary, or fun to watch.
Woah im early
Can you please get a filipino tarantula please.you always ignore my comments😢
Get something to put the camera on so you can use both hands while dealing with this animals. Not so strange that animals die in your presence because of how you are filming and handling them.
None of his animals died due to him handeling them wrong but either because of sickness, being old, delivered hurt or already dead or just dying because of something he either didnt know would happen or some accident not caused by him.
first 🤓
Nope

You don´t have to show yourself. Do a closeup. So we can see how much you love them!
how fast you wanna get bitten for even attempting that
Not true at all. Just make sure they eat. Maybe don't have more than you can properly take care of 🤷♂️
So I just purchased my first Chaco Golden Knee today he is a juvenile about 2 inches I put him in a 14 x 8x 6 I used creature sand as a base substrate and then I added creature topsoil with Leaf litter and cork bark
