With power and having them thrown of the rear leg I have some drills coming from TMA that can help and I feel instant gain doing them. Also there are some unique counters to jab coming from it (Hung Ga). Would be nice if Gabriel could evaluate that ...
Much like disguising the spin kick with a glove to the face. George Foreman would leave his glove out in his opponents face and even disrupt their balance, because of his size and strength. This would leave time for a big lopping overhand right to land.
Gabriel, i just wanted to say thanks for giving us all this amazing knowledge and conent you've really helped me improve so much currently training boxing and Muay Tai 6 days aweek. I definitely feel sore but its worth it. Thank you for all these gems brother. My game has improved a lot and you are a big reason
Thank you so much for this Gabriel, even tho the jab is one of my main weapons in my arsenal, I still found this video useful, especially the second way, when you stick out the jab, and follow up with a middle kick or a high kick, overall, such an amazing video Gabriel!
Great vid. I remember back in the day when I was learning and my jab wasn't the best in orthodox stance. I would use it just to jab the opponents glove enough to cover his vision just to sneak a hard lead teep or a low kick in. Little things stack up
Would the jab -> lead round kick be a decent counter against overhand rights? I tend to fight with an extended or low lead hand, so I end up susceptible to them often
Adesanya throws that combo, he faints the jab and throws the left high kick as they come in; John Haggerty is an example in muay thai, his lead left round kick has no tell.
i do have a HORRIBLE jab and use it as a range finder for my cross, kick long-guard etc my jab has 0% my cross has 100% lol i have cerebral palsy on my right side so i am left dominant so yep all my power is in my left side
Isn't the teep a foot jab? I mostly use the jab to bridge my kick combos. Going lead teep, jab, lead teep. Lead teep, jab rear teep, jab. Or some other combinatiom of low comittal, initiative stealing and great setup strikes just allows you to punch way above your skill level. Granted doing nothing but this in sparring is a d*ck move since it prevents your partner from training. If your style has this as it's key element, don't be a twat and do nothing but disrupting your partner from start to finish. Give your partner some time and let them practice their game, use it as time to practice your defense for those inevitable moments where your opponent actually gets to enact their game. You WILL have a stern talking to if all you do is this in sparring.
The jab is something I'm always looking to improve, thank you for the awesome video
You bet!

Thanks for sharing this. I tore my left biceps few months ago so I can't quickly retract my jabs like before. This is really a game changer for me.
Keep rehabbing and strengthening it, you'll get back to normal in no time

A good rear hand will take you around the corner. A good lead hand will take you around the world. Keep up the good work champ! 🎉

Probably better to time their step and inside low, could flick the jab out as you step out/away from the powerhand then sweep/inside low

Amazing video as always Gabriel :)
Another proof that it's always Tactics>Techniques.

@GabrielVega, stop using my techniques. I don't have PACT with you and owe me every belt. Be real. Stop training.
