Top Secret is impressive as always. What an honor they were here. They are 100 percent squared away. I've watched this drum corps for years.

I agree. I was bored watching this. I'm disappointed in ODU. They play stuff i played in high school 20 years ago. I expect more from universities.

Yep. Shout out to SCV- Santa Clara Vanguard. They just played one of their warmup cadences called "Double Beat" - written by Murray Gusseck in 2004.

Outclassed by the best. TS Not as fast, nor crisp as 2010. Don’t poke the bear, ODU. Well done TS. They took our old run for the finale. That’s the tempo I’m used to.
No body can take on the top secret durmline like to see them at dci finals
They would place terribly low in a DCI comp. 1, they don’t have quads or even a pit. They have no band to play with. They would literally rank dead last.

Without wanting to be disrespectful, TS plays on a completely different level compared to ODU, especially when the situation requires it. Here it was definitely not necessary so they took it very lightly compared to their potential. ODU sounds more like a drum line at a carnival. There exists actually a lot of them in Basel for the local carnival. As a fun fact, TS actually recruits its members from the local carnival groups.

My problem with Top Secret Drum corps is that 1 they don’t have a tenor line and I think tenors are cool and 2 they just look like statues or robots when they play, there’s no emotion at all.
The lack of emotion is because they pull their aesthetic from the British military tradition. It's all about precision, and it presents best when they're doing a fully choreographed routine at a tattoo. University drum corps are coming from a performance aesthetic.
It's very different, but I find both styles enjoyable.

That blue drumline really has some messy appearances. Their hair is wild and unkept and none of their pants fit right. Some of them are wearing capris while others are dragging on the ground. Wild
They’re literally college kids lol. Also the uniform situation isn’t their fault. That’s on their school to make sure the band has the funding and resources it needs. Also TS was dirtier than they should’ve been playing the highschool level beats they were playing.
These uniforms have been around since the start of the band program in 2008. With the number of people in the ODU band, it's a given a lot won't be fitted entirely because there's just not enough variety.
Top Secret’s tenor section was still better. Lol I love top secret. Great try Norfolk. Can’t be shakin booty against them though. Top Secret is precision.

Bahaha 😂 I watched top secret in Scotland. I built the new, old dominion bridges, the huge ones, and the bridges in Virginia Beach. That was my bad. I got them mixed together. Watched both of the schools bands while I was there working. Spent four years there.
ODU is all out of step!!!! Cymbals, you’re right up front and on the wrong foot!!!!! Do better, have some section pride and hold yourselves to a higher standard.
I personally think JSU or Cold Steel can take on TSDC... yes TSDC has a very powerful military precision that has & always defeat any drumline, but JSU or Cold Steel can give em tough time.

Absolutely love how crisp top secret is! You can’t fault either for their craft. It takes time and practice for both. But top secrets uniforms, everything is designed with purpose, just super crisp. Sorry ODU. Yall done good but top secret got it. Just not as crisp.

Top secret needs to switch to pearl, get a tenor line, and one more bass for 5 basses. And they will elevate

ODU has half as many snares, no stick tricks, nowhere near the level of stick height coordination and drums that aren’t tuned as crisply. What you are hearing is effectively the unison of drums tuned to a definite pitch creating overtones
@@gaberobison680 okay but even when top secret wasn’t even playing technical bits they were quite dirty. Yes they look a lot nicer and definitely please the crowd better, but they’re just not as clean as odu. At the end of the day, odu is supposed to SOUND good with a band while ts is meant to LOOK good. Both do those things very well. And tf are you talking about “snares aren’t tuned as crisply”. TS snares were FAT and DRY and ODU’s were tight asf and wet. Someone doesn’t know wtf they’re talking about.

The Top Secret Drumline looks very slick. I've been watching them for years. The white sticks against black uniforms is awesome, and they make a very traditional uniform look awesome. However, they are more "showy" than clean. I wish I could come across one video of the TSD where they are cleaner than who they "battle". We could say it's a culture thing, but if you are going to battle American drumlines, DCI and college level, you've got to be cleaner.
ODU played very well, and they are obviously trained well. It's just a shame those UGLY uniforms take so much of the focus away. I played snare in my university drumline back in the day, so I get tradition uniforms, but COME ON. Those are hideous. They all look like they're wearing high-waters with the pants so high above the shoes like a 1980s nerd. Plus, the white section of the jacket completely drowns out seeing the snares' and tenors' stick movements.
The TSD "won" because of politics, a fan favorite. They are known around the world. ODU clearly out played them when it came to difficulty of notes and clarity. (Basically, real drumming). Heck, the "President's Own" U.S. Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps drumline plays WAY cleaner than the TSD.
I know this is all in fun. It would be a blast to drum on a battleship deck!

They sound awful if they are tuned awful like here. Type in “SCV Drumline” and you’ll hear what god intended quads to sound like.

Sorry to break it to you, but they are all for show and tradition. They don’t actually play anything of note. They just sniff their drumsticks
