Ghostwire: Tokyo Xbox Series X Review - The Final Verdict

- Aside from the main experience, the Xbox launch of Ghostwire: Tokyo coincides with an update across all platforms entitled the Spider’s Thread. While there are many details and quality-of-life fixes in the main storyline from the original release, the biggest addition comes in the form of a roguelite gauntlet. It pits KK and Akito in an alternate dimension where they run a gamut of 30 “floors” or areas where you must complete objectives in order to proceed. There are optional objectives that grant additional rewards. Every so often, you’ll complete a floor and enter the Cat’s Paw where you can purchase supplies from the strange two-tailed cat vendor.
If you die, you are immediately thrust back to the first floor. However, certain progression aspects remain in place namely spirit skills, spirit threads, and shop unlocks. It’s can be a fun addition to the title for those who wish to see more once the main storyline ends, though it doesn’t do anything to truly fix the often sluggish and simplistic combat that is already presented as a problem in the main storyline. And, if the combat is the worst aspect of the game for you, then prepare for round after round of it cram packed into a challenging package.
In conclusion, Ghostwire: Tokyo is a thoughtful and unique experience. However, an unremarkable combat system and the bane of repetition without elevation hold this title back from being something truly great.
I really liked this game on PS5. I thought the combat was really good. Great aiming. The story was good enough & the enemies got tougher the farther you go in the game. I'd definitely play it again and would give it an 8/10.
This is straight up my favorite game. It's fantastic.
I was actually really excited to play this then it came out as exclusive. Good on xbox for changing that
Playstation Plus got this added not long ago, installed it on the PS5, and now I get to enjoy it on the Series X 🎮
Says the people who gave the cringey and lame Saint's Row reboot an 8. This game is easily an 8.5 imo. The visuals, story and exploration make it worthwhile and the combat is not as bad as they say. The new update also adds value. Definitely worth checking out.
I liked the game a lot but 8.5 might be to high I’ll say 7 but none the less great game
in germany they gave saints row a 77/100
for example dead space got an 81
Exactly. And they gave alien isolation a 5 despite it being a masterpiece.
@@stephenmurray2851 I didn't watch that review. That's insane. Very clearly a great game!
7 is not even bad
This was a great game.. they could have made the power ups more interesting, the game longer and integrated side quests (free the children) into the main quest.
This looked boring as sin and I heard negative reactions from players. I tried it since it was free on PS plus and holy moly it's one of my favorite games ever. Wish I waited for the series x update but I adore it even before the new content. Seriously underrated.
i know right, yes, people should just shut up.
i think the reason people out there badmouthing this game is because they're treating this game
like COD or Doom or other mindless shooter game.
they expect horde of Monsters, endless dopamine shooter, and endless run.
and they're disappointed when the game require you to enjoy the environment and immerse yourself with the culture and folkfore.
They don't get the game, and they blame the game instead of blaming themself
and i also suspect that some of those haters jealous that their favorite game look worser than this game,
thus, they made up absurd stuff like "boring game", "monotonous", to downplay the game.
which is far from the truth
this game is made with care and love by the dev, love how everything is designed thoughtfully.
they don't deserve all the hate, after all of the crazy hard work they did
This dudes reviews are repetitious!! 6/10 on this review!
Interesting to see this game on Xbox.
scince they own the studio

So you don't learn anything about Mari during the game?
There are literaly a dozen of flashbacks showing her relationship with Akito
And this is just one of many "little oopsies" in this video
Xbox should sue you 🙏
No word about the new content, like the dash and the new Powers? Its a pitty. AND WHY THE HECK THE PS5 VERSIONS GETS 8 POINTS?
Very typical fanboy response worrying about score on the other team
Plus the ps5 version has dualsense features with the haptic feedback and adaptive trigger those features make’s Ghostwire Combat more immersive especially you feel with the controller when you pulling the core on the enemies with adaptive trigger.things the xbox controller would never have so ps5 version having 1 more points isn’t all the bad
Who cares? 😂

Is there a Physical release for the Xbox ?
I’d love to know this too. Deathloop got one a month or so after releasing, so there’s hope.
Yes, there is a physical release.
This game is amazing to me it's first person Skyrim. Give it a shot great game
I bought it on PS5 last year and I really enjoyed it but not interested in going back yet plus not interested in playing this on Xbox because it doesn't have the duelsence features.
nah, there is nothing wrong with the combat system,
if this combat system is wrong, then what about COD, or basically all the other Shooter game out there,
which is literally just press one button to shoot, and nothing else?
see, people just want to hate on thing for no reason.
Enemies in COD don't have supernatural powers. Comparing two completely different games is just dumb
@@CA_Hariharaniyer2023 same shooting mechanic.
Try to get the context,
We're comparing a pure gameplay mechanic here, exclude the game concept.
We're talking about what makes game fun or boring,
And COD literally only point and shoot, the enemy is generic human.
You guys just want a justification to hate on a perfectly fine game
@@jensenraylight8011 🤦. Same shooting mechanic doesn't mean it's the same game. Enemy types in both games are different. Enemy moments in both games are different. The environment in both games are different. For COD, these mechanics are enough but that's not the case for this game because the enemies, environment etc. are completely different. There are also other factors such as music, story etc. which impact a game very much and not just the gameplay mechanics.
@@jensenraylight8011 Also comparing only game mechanics without including the game concept doesn't make any sense. It's like comparing God of War Ragnarok with Doom Eternal.
@@CA_Hariharaniyer2023 it's still the same under the hood.
the difference between the same shooting game is the tuning and configuration.
you can even compare doom and COD, and the difference is the tuning and configuration of the gameplay.
Do you even play Ghostwire?
or are you just reciting a comment from reddit?
there are 8 Moves in Ghostwire,
4 type of attack, and your attack can be upgraded further into Charge and Burst.
there are also Arrow and Talisman for strategic playing
the movesets is plenty enough.
most game didn't have this much of a mechanic,
so this is not a valid criticism either.
here is the cold hard truth, if the game is boring, it's because you played it in the most boring way possible,
which is button mashing the same attack over and over again.
increase the difficulty and play it strategically. this is a somewhat horror game that meant to be played strategically, not a game where you've to kill hundred enemies non stop.
play the game like how it meant to be played
BOSSes 👹
The fucking cursor keeps drifting away and when I'm trying to turn it accelerates for some reason
Same
Cheers good video
What's up with this guy's voice? He sounds like my doctor.
Persona Hill is lookin great
I beat it an game honestly was ok at best story wasn't all that good, combat got old quick plus im glad it was on gamepass because im not buying a game that is ok. 4 out of 10 for me.
Been playing it all day, pretty cool so far, especially the easy achievements. It's also funny to see Sony fans cry real tears about losing yet another of their precious exclusives.
You won't experience it how ps5 players are because of the controller vibration heptics feedback and adaptive triggers.
The game came out on PC and Playstation so it was never a Sony exclusive.
@@jarradstirgus5711 its a price we are willing to take to have it available in gamepass on day one (in this case day one of it being available for xbox)
Nobody is crying bro, but it’s a way better experience on ps5, the controller is light years ahead of anything Microsoft will come out with..
@@grantfleming7094and yet I'm still having fun with this on Xbox I don't give a flying fuck about some extra bs from a controller.
I played the first 15 minutes and got bored.

@@oliverman6168 I tried again and played for hours now I have water and fire and have unlocked the rouge like I'm really liking it kinda cool
I couldn't even begin to entertain a scoring this game well while it performs this poorly. I'm absolutely shocked that after 1 year they couldn't improve performance. The default quality mode is literally unplayable. If you choose hfr quality with vsync all indoor environments become unplayable even though ray tracing isn't even used indoors. It's such a mess. This game should be right up my alley but it's fighting me every step of the way. The lag on the input is such a mess, and has been since launch. And the game doesn't even have the excuse of looking that good to justify the poor performance. It's definitely a last gen game, there are moments (especially in cutscenes) where it even looks like a PS3 era game. Such a pity.
Exactly. I really like the game, but it's seriously has the worst performance of any game I've played this year. I had to stop after the first chapter yesterday, and I decided to wait until they fix it.
@@Mcw32 So what I'm doing now is using HFR performance with vsync. That's giving a really smooth run, havnt had any performance issues. It's unfortunate to lose ray tracing. But that said, the ray tracing implementation sucks anyway. The draw distance on reflections you see on the street are like 50 meters. You can see the pop in happening as you walk. So better to just not bother with it.
Must feel empty without the DuelSense
I don’t like controller rumble or duel sense, just good headphones
Feel empty with boring gameplay
@@kennypowers1945 that’s a win for you then.
What headphones do you use?
I’m currently using the Bose, but I do prefer 7.1 surround or Dolby Atmos when implemented.
Jesus who ever was playing this needs to stop. Make the game look bad.
This is the epitome of a 7. The combat just feels… off even after adjusting controls. The atmosphere makes up for some of it, and there are some decent aspects of the gameplay. This could’ve used just a little more time in the oven imo.
seriously. this controls i absolutely hate. i dont quite no why
@@tiiptap it feels too stiff on controller. Even after messing around with all the camera options. Only way I can play it is with mouse and keyboard tbh.
@@tiiptap if you haven’t already, look up some videos of what other people have set them to. After adjusting it does feel a lot better, however I think it’s just the way the game was designed where the combat feels meh. I’m not quite sure how these devs continue to mess this up lol cyberpunk is another example of a game where I had to spend forever getting it just right on controller
One Of The Best Games On PS5. Something New & Different Surely A Good Thing. I Am Enjoying This Fun Game. 9/10 For 👩🦳🙏
Another great vid
I wanted to like it, but it just felt like it was missing something. If it had multiplayer and it was like attack on titan where you go into the danger zone, but also have your populated safe zone I think it would have been better.

Terrible Review
This and shadow warrior three look and feel absolutely terrible on Xbox graphics and gameplay feel choppy which effect the gameplay experience it’s very noticeable and distracting. I even tried to tolerate it for a little bit but I just couldn’t and quit both. Unless the games are just that bad everywhere. I am so glad I bought neither since they are free now and the issues I stated above. Tokyo lacks enemies as well u fight the same five enemies always and the bosses suck. Story for both suck really bad Atleast shadow warriors cutscenes are better though not saying much tho. U shoukd review sw3 if U haven’t on Xbox.
Story is great setting is great the Japanese folklore is great… the gameplay isn’t. So boring and repetitive. And there’s enough map markers to make it feel like an Ubisoft game. And the eating sound effects annoy me. Every time you go to heal it’s “UMMM NOM MHMMM MMM”
I could care less why I'm looking for my sister....the game is fun
I put it down once I got the bow but I'm gonna jump back into it. The hand signs are kinda cool
