My late father was a bread maker as the bakery he worked at for ,35 years and he made bread at home and that is the way he made his bread so yes U were doing it right.so linna well done 👍
Bread making is something that takes time and practice. Yours looks great for a beginner. Your kneading technique is good. Many things affect bread from the age of the flour to the relative humidity. The more bread you make the better you learn how to tweak the recipe for your preference. Please don’t give up! I am 50 and struggling to find styles I like too. Especially makeup! Matte foundation was everything in my youth. Now everyone wants to look shiny. Youth is for the young haha😂. Luckily as we get older we worry less about what others think and more about what is important. Family. Good health. Comfort.
Im an American woman & have baked bread for over 50 years. It takes years of experimenting & practicing to make perfect bread. Your rolls looked very good. Keep practicing different & new breads. Its so fun & the smell of bread baking is the best!
Yes, I agree - you need a proper large bowl to mix bread! That square container seemed so awkward for you! And you need to get your hands in there to mix, as well as to knead - it's the best way. You'll start to learn how the dough should feel as you mix it together, and you'll be able to tell when to stop.
Your bread turned out so nice! You’re right, we can always learn new things. So rewarding when it turns out so nice. Thanks for sharing Linna. Enjoy your weekend. ❤️
I use to work in a food lab as well. You have a gift for cooking. Fresh baked bread smells so good on a cold winter day! Try it some day in the winter. Your food in Japan is very fresh and healthy. Not so much in the U.S. I enjoyed watching and so happy for you and your new book. 🌞🍄🧅🍞🥦🍠☕🍰
If you knead on a board rather than the container you can stretch out the dough better. Also like others mentioned the dough needs warmth to prove and it's better to keep in an open bowl with a cloth over it so it can "breathe". But I have to say, for the first try you did very well on the bread.
I bought a bread making machine because of arthritis, my hands are in bad shape. I vary the recipe for different tastes and then when the dough has risen, shape and bake. Bread making is fun! You’ll see how you just get better and better, ❤
Linna, do not worry, bread making takes time and practice. I was also nervous my first time, but now I bake my own bread for 15 years and its nothing to it, just joy. It helps if you knead the dough on the counter, you get much more space to manouver it around. Best regards, Marinka.
The bread looked delicious and I wasn't surprised your son loved it. Your chicken meal looked incredible too. I'm glad my grandson loves when I try new meals out too. Not to mention how much he loves mushrooms too lol. Can't wait to see you try another bread out. That's the way we all learn! Be Blessed
Home made bread is always more dense than store bought. I don’t know how they do it but I prefer homemade. I haven’t bought store bought in years and it’s much better to have homemade. Good on you Linna! Keep doing it. 🍞
Totally uncalled for. Its her first attempt at it and yet these so called expert's dont take that into account. No wonder the world is like it is. Don't throw away your book Linna. Give it more tries. Don't listen to these people.
I’m 76 and have forgotten everything I’ve learned over the years I think about it for a couple days then try to make it lol never tastes the same i always do something wrong lol ❤
Hi linna-san iam from india iam 13years old and studying in 7th grade and yesterday was my birthday and i turned 13 🎊🎊 i really like your videos☺️and your cozy vlogs are really amazing and giving me calm and cool vibes
Yeast activation is 102 to 105°F, the liquid needs to be warmed up.....baked bread & can still hear my Newfie great granny & Newfie granny instructions. The yeast needs to be foaming. 5 to 10 mins of kneading on a slightly floured surface to really work that gluten. That is a good crumb, they would had approved of it had they been alive right now.
Hello Linna , i hope you are doing well. Well done for the bread , it looks good to me. I also do break for years and love the smeel when it is in the oven and when it is fresh and still little hot with butter and jam on or with nothing. In France break is very important and good break is more important.Have nice and of the week and take care you and your Men.
If you brush your bread with butter as soon as you get it out of the oven it softens the top of the rolls nicely and adds a buttery taste, you could add garlic to the butter 😊
Hi Linna - your rolls looked great! If you want them more fluffy than firm, you can let them rest for longer before you bake them. Cover the tray with a kitchen towel and let them sit at room temp for an hour. You might also try letting the dough sit on the counter for an hour before you put it in the fridge to allow to yeast to active more.
I made Hungarian Goulash today that had similar sauce ingredients: garlic, onion, tomato, worcestershire sauce, beef boullion powder, salt and pepper. It was good.
your bread came out so well! amazing job! bread is such a fun thing to make. I still double check the recipe anytime I use one haha 😄 thanks for sharing your day!
Sometimes if bread is overkneeded it can be firmer. Maybe try kneeding with your hand next times you make bread, you can usually tell by feel when its done. They looked really good for your first try, im surprised you hadn't made bread sooner but being a mom and wife you must be very busy! Looking forward to what bread youll try next 😊
The bread looked yummy! 👍 Homemade bread is denser than store bought, especially Japanese "bread" is ultra fluffy and lovely but for a European it's not really bread lol.
Enjoy all your videos. My daughter moved to Japan from US. She wonders why she can’t find rubbing alcohol nor hydrogen peroxide for sale. Are you familiar with these, and any comments? Keep up the practice with bread making. It is very satisfying and delicious! Thank you 🌿

I am excited for you ! I hope you will have a good time 🎶 I advise you to have both short sleeves and long sleeves, and a lighter jacket. Weather is unstable these days, some days cold and some days warm. Sorry I don’t go Tokyo very often so I cant recommend you restaurants in Tokyo. 💦
Hi from New Jersey, USA. Your bread rolls look good! I have been thinking about trying another bread recipe. I only have one in my recipe book my mom used to make. Do you still shop at your local produce store? There is one by me but it only has local vegetables and fruit part of the year and it's closed in the winter.

I'm almost caught up now...I got sick, a reaction to an RSV vaccine & was down for almost a week. It's so good to feel better now & almost back to myself again, Linna. I am too...can't stand all the cheap fabrics they are making clothes from now...I love my cotton & a few other materials, but I'm fussy about styles too. When my husband was still alive, I always made our bread...a lot of sourdough, especially. I loved making it so much...bread machines are OK for mixing, but bread needs to be kneaded by clean hands...it needs that natural oil from out clean hands...that's what I've always said. Ahha...so that's why you know so much about how foods react to each other...I'm so glad you shared that, Linna...so interesting to think you worked in a food lab!! I have to say though, there is something so very satisfying about making your own bread & sharing it with family & seeing them enjoy it!! I usually make my bread dough in an large enameled bowl...that way, I have room for everything without making too much mess...haha Yes, you are doing it exactly right...the kneading!!😊 The smell that fills your home when you bake your own bread is wonderful!! Your bread looks like a total success, Linna & that's just your very first try...I'm impressed & I'm sure your "boys" will be too!! Love & Blessings to you all! 🙏♥
I hope you feel better and better each day 🙏 It’s so hard to find a cloth with the fabric and style we like at the same time isn’t? 😂 thank you for sharing your experience with me 💓
