One thing this didn't show is putting your heater on full blast too.. that way the coolant gets circulated through the heater core and helps to get air out of the lines.
Unless there have been significant changes in most manufacturers, there is always coolant running through the heater core. Putting it on full blast will only turn on the fan associated with it and adjust some blend doors behind the dash.

How do you know the proper level of fluid ? I just filled mine up a bit to top it off, but when i started my 1986 Dodge D-250, she started to leak a little bit, so i took a bit off of the top. Any suggestions please !
I won't be able to say for sure, the only thing that can say for sure is the repair and maintenance manual that comes with the car, or other repair manual that is meant for your car. but you can use a transfer pump. The manual can prolly show you if there is a drain plug for your coolant system too.
I saw another video (ChrisFix How To Test Your Cooling System) where it says to test your coolant if it has its correct coolant to water ratio which for most is 50/50 but always check your owners manual to make sure. You can use a coolant tester (usually less than $5) and make sure you have the correct ratio. If you don't, you have to adjust it by adding either more coolant or more distilled water and then test it again, once you have the correct ratio, add coolant/water (50/50) mix until the resivoir is full to the fill line. Test again to make sure it stays at the 50/50 ratio.
I know it's really not important,. it's just information... but my general sense of awareness would like know... ..was I just listening to a man or a woman??
From my understanding, the coolant from the reservoir goes to the radiator. So, no? I don't want to guide you wrong. I just never had any issues with just filling up reservoir. Now that I think of it, I've never filled up my radiator. The radiator always pulled coolant from the reservoir, filling itself up, while you continue filling up reservoir.
Usually if you have a reservoir you won't have a radiator cap but sometimes you do. If that's the case I would top of the radiator then the reservoir. But if you only have a reservoir cap then top that up. Thanks for watching!
yup.....once the car reaches operating temp, you will see a big drop in the coolant level. This is because the thermostat in the engine opened which lets coolant flow to the block of the engine. So when this happens and you see a drop, just add more.
@@arelimanzano8975 yea it could, it could me somthing small like a leak in one of the hoses, or mabye a bit more like a leak in the radiator, if ur really unlucky it could even be a head gasket leak……if u want to find out which leak you have, do a compression test to rule out the first two options, for the head gasket leak look out for white smoke from your exhaust as engine exhaust smell from your coolant reservoir, there is also a head gasket leak tester which you can buy or get done (depending on how long it takes for your car to overheat)

Hi, what if you tried the 2nd way, but when I added the funnel to add the coolant, it wouldn't go down. I would add a little at at time and it would overflow.
The most simple way to tell if by letting your car idle to see if there is white smoke coming from your exhaust, other than that. It would just be by visual. Meaning, seeing that the coolant is obviously running out fast or if you see a leak from the car itself onto the ground.

So if you have to turn the car on and add more coolant, won’t it start getting hot and you can burn yourself? First timer
It won’t get hot enough to burn you until like 10-15 mins
@@overdramatichumor8851 makes sense. Thank you.

If you add coolant while it is off and just add coolant then close and turn in the engine for a while is it okay

Your car will turn into a transformer and will let you know when it’s full and then it will run off to fight megatron
