      On the other hand, one should probably avoid walking in the woods there, in case of stray arrows and random projectiles!

    We used to make it from a cutted finger from a rubber glove. A thick rubber glove! It's tough rubber. And then some peas. Believe me, we had some blue bruses! LOL. It was just a finger from a glove and a plastic tube from electrical tubing. Glorious!!! Thnx mate. Like the upload. Made me think back! Thumbs up!!!

      +TheScorpio32 the big balloon one has been out for a while, one guy at my school made one and used rocks or tightly rolled up paper balls for ammo. He got caught and punished, of course. these may be small, but they aren't very discreet to shoot

      I used to make some like this but it was made from a "modified" inc pencil. You basicly screwed of afew parts off and attached a balloon and you shot the inc tube with the metal pencil tip ontop and it had alot of power. My friend accidentaly penetraded my hand while shooting one!

  • @MrAstrojensen
    @MrAstrojensen 8 років тому +2

    We made such pocket shooters in school, many years ago, using the thumb from a rubber glove and a small PVC tube. They were a lot of fun, but we never used them in school wars, as they were frankly a little too dangerous for that. They are easily powerful enough to take an eye out or crack eyeglasses. For classroom wars, we used blowpipes made from plastic pens, shooting small plastic decoration pearls... Man, we did get into a lot of trouble with the teachers for that, but it sure was fun.

  • @krissamuel4915
    @krissamuel4915 8 років тому +4

    The pocket shot is a really innovative design, and it can compete with many slingshots easily, but as for shooting arrows, I still think they might need some more improvements with the rubber, maybe a stronger rubber, which will make you use more power to draw back, but it will accelerate the arrow really fast. However, pocket shot is a great fun toy to play with!

  • @GabrielMartinez-wh2xm
    @GabrielMartinez-wh2xm 8 років тому

    This pocket shot has so much more potential then demonstrated in this video. It actually shoots a lot harder! I have one and it's good to hunt with. When it comes to arrows it launches them around 150 fps. When it comes to steel ammo it shoots around 350 fps. Great product really.

    • @GabrielMartinez-wh2xm
      @GabrielMartinez-wh2xm 8 років тому

      Also, there is a reference point to aim with. It is not limited to instinctive shooting. You just need to hold the slingshot correctly and this is with the thumb knuckle pointing straight up and not sidewise or diagonal like demonstrated here.

    Cool... We use to make stuff like this as kids.. We would use 20mm-25mm conduit cut to lengths along with that we would cut fingers off rubber dish washing gloves and use electrical tape to tape it over one end of the conduit. So much fun. Cant believe we still have all our eyes shooting these at each other.

It was build from the small ballon wraped on the neck cutted from the plastic bottle and secured by black electic tape. They have a lot of power and it gives us a lot of joy. Grettings from Poland!

    You could actually combine several pocketshots into a gatling gun if you added a trigger mechanism to the front cap of each one to hold a bolt in place until the trigger is released by a rotating lever(it would need to be strong enough, of course), similar to the slingshot versions that you already made in the past. There are also balloons of varying scales so it's curious to ponder how far a larger balloon can stretch when compared to the normal size.

  • @Saareem
    @Saareem 8 років тому

    We used to make something like these as kids. The barrel was longer PVC pipe and the rubber was usually a finger from rubber gloves as the rubber was much thicker and robust than one from the balloons. They were usually used to shoot some berries from the aronia bushes. Getting shot really hurt but the ammo was fairly soft so nothing serious ever happened. The berries left a semi permanent stain on skin and clothes for the fun of the parents.

    I respectfully disagree, Jorge, that the homemade version doesn't compete with the commerical version. The main argument I can make is that propriety is the biggest limiting factor to long-term product usage. The homemade version excels in compactness, customization, and reproduction. Great video, Mr.Jorge! Btw, I don't use duct tape to secure the band - I use a rubber band or ranger band. :-)

    Ein paar Verbesserungsvorschläge:
    Man kann statt dem pvc Rohr einen großen Flaschenhals nehmen (beispielsweise von einer Nestea Eistee Flasche, da er einen großen Durchmesser hat) und den Ballon mit einem Kabelbinder in der Rille vom Hals befestigen, zusätzlich kann man den Ring vom Schraubdeckel zum Befestigen nehmen und wenn man vorsichtig genug ist kann man auch mehrere Ballons übereinander verwenden man muss nur darauf achten, dass sich keine Luft dazwischen befindet (beispielsweise mit einem Strohhalm heraussaugen bevor man den Kabelbinder draufgibt) jedenfalls mit dieser Bauweise und 3 Ballons als gummi habe ich schlussendlich über mein eigenes chrony geschossen und bin auf eine Geschwindigkeit von ungefähr 47m/s gekommen, mit meinen selbstegegossenen Bleikugeln, die ca. 4-5g wiegen entspricht das etwa 4,5-5,5 joule

    I was going to make a condom joke.....but it seems like a whole lotta people thought the same; I just hope you weren't thinking that the blue one was ideal! I love the channel and the thinking, to those who feel the same way, get a 'domestic supply type' pipe, like a half inch wavin or any simple pipe that you can swing one-handed and fast (maybe 2 ft/600 mm 'ish).....get a stone or a marble to fit the pipe, hold your little finger over the end and launch it, full force at a target......timing is everything with such a weapon but I find that old metal files can be devastating......the original 'pipe' I trained with was curved, for no other reason than that was the only pipe around, I have never been more accurate with a straight pipe, that is not to say that you won't do better, but anything that fits easily can be cast with great force...parker pens, darts without flights (actually with flights if you push them up the pipe a bit), ball bearings, nails, anything that fits can be accelerated towards a target and can have serious force, plus, the pipe can be a weapon that's already in your hand............................. (mic drop)

    Ich empfehle dir Gummihandschuhe welche zum Putzen verwendet werden zu verbauen statt einem Ballon zu wählen. So ist die pocketshot pouch viel stabiler. Wir haben das damals in unserer Kindheit auch so gemacht. Zudem ist die Zielgenauigkeit mit einem Bambusrohr 20 - 30 cm lang viel höher. Daumen hoch für dein Video!

    I would love to see a video where you just wander into the wilderness using whatever you can find to make a slingshot/weapon and see how powerful you can make it with just the stuff you find

    In Chile we call those kind of slingshot "Poroteras" which can roughly translate as "bean shooter", and kids made them all the time out of old plastic bottles and balloon plastic, we just to used them to shoot each other with dry beans and green cherries. After a while it wasn't fun anymore, it was just painful.

    Here in Brazil, me and my friends used to make the pvc one and shoot beans at each other, it was lots of fun (and some times pain).
