Another thing I noticed is that the fathers are exact opposite of their families. Pepa’s side is chaotic and messy but their father is calm and composed. Julieta’s side is calm and composed but their father is chaotic and messy

One thing i really like about this movie is how they managed to make the kids look similar to their parents without it being a copy paste of the designs. All of them look different but you can definitely see the genes passed on.

I like how Pepa’s family wears warm colors like red, orange, and yellow. While Julieta’s family wears cool colors, like green, blue, and purple.
Technically Julieta’s family colours are just blues and turquoises. Purples are more associated with abuela. The reason why Isabela wore lavenders and pinks was because she was rather detached from her family and tried her best to impress Alma. When she is herself she wears indigo/navy blue to tie her to her direct family. Green is Bruno’s colour, and thereby the outcasts’ colour. Mirabel’s glasses are green to tie her design to Bruno, since they’re both the black sheep of the family (and the fact that they both symbolise types of seeing (the future/empathy)).
