    TRANSCRIPT:
    Today I'm going to show you how to make a rose infused Kokum Butter. And we're gonna need dry rose petals, almond oil, rose absolute or rose essential oil, pink mica and of course our Kokum Butter.
    When we infuse oils we like to do big batches so you can have extra oil for different recipes. So today we'll be using 8 ounces of almond oil and 1 cup of dry rose flowers. We're going to completely cover the rose petals with the almond oil. We have the oil and the roses infusing in a double boiler system at low heat. It will be there for at least two hours infusing, but four hours is ideal.
    So I've run the oil that was infused with the petals through a strainer and there's the oil infused. It smells delicious, those little speckles are leftover flowers. If they bother you or you don't want them you could just strain it again through a coffee filter or similar cloth.
    And here we have 3/4 of a cup of the rose infused oil and 1 cup of cut-up Kokum Butter. We have the Kokum in our usual double boiler system, and we're pouring in the oil and let it all melt.
    Here is our melted Kokum butter and the rose infused oil. I will put it in the freezer for about half an hour until it is partly solid.
    So here it is, I took that out of the freezer it was there for about an hour. So you will want to leave it between 30 minutes to an hour until it mostly solidifies, but it is still soft to the touch, and you can tell from my fingerprints that it is soft to the touch. So now it is ready to be stirred or whipped.
    Before we add the optional essential oil and mica, I'm going to stir it up a little bit to make it creamy. I have added rose essential oil and glittery pink mica.
    Look how nice and soft it is, it looks just like whipping cream, I love it.
    So kokum butter is a healing butter, great for dry skin. Almond oil and roses are completely soothing so your skin will love you.

    When you use kokum butter, whip it and everything, and add allyour product does it go back to its natural state (Harder butter) when it is cooled?? If so can i add a softer butter to make it less hard?? if so which butter would you recommend for a more softer creamier whipped butter? Thanks in advance

    • @rhs2881
      @rhs2881 3 роки тому +3

      Yes that happens which is whily u need to balance the quantity of your Kokum butter with 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 parts of a softer butter (shea) or carrier oil such as coconut, olive, almond, jojoba, avocado, etc depending on part of body you want to use it. (Comedogenicity etc) Enjoy.

    Sorry so many questions these butters look creamy but are they greasy when hit the skin if so if want non greasy cream can you add arrowroot to mixture . Thank you

    • @BetterSheaButter
      @BetterSheaButter  5 років тому +3

      Yes, add 1 tablespoon of arrowroot powder to this recipe, slowly and through a sieve so you don't get clumps. Also, these body butters are meant to use in very small amounts, they are 100% butters and oils vs the lotions we are used to, which are about 80% water and 10% oils/butters.

    What other Butters would you suggest to use instead of the Kokum Butter? Also can I use gear gum to make less oily on the skin?

    • @BetterSheaButter
      @BetterSheaButter  4 роки тому +3

      You can use any butters, but the formula and percentage of butter will change a bit if you want the same consistency. Look for our other videos for ides :) and yes, guar gum or other thickeners work in cutting down the oily feeling, make sure you experiment with a little bit at a time and add it to the whipping step, not to the melted butter. Add in a powder using a sieve so that the powder is not clumpy at all.

    Hello. I see this post is from two years ago but I made it just today. It came out very greasy I’m wondering, if in fact you even see this, if you could help me resolve my issue. I substituted the almond oil with half almond oil half avocado. Do you think that is where I made my mistake? I also added arrow root to try and take some of the greasiness away without any luck. Any suggestions? Thoughts?

    • @BetterSheaButter
      @BetterSheaButter  2 роки тому +3

      Hi!! I'm glad you found our video :) Avocado oil has a comedogenic rating of 3, which means it is very likely to clog pores, as well as feel heavier and more oily. Arrow root is a great ingredient, but really can't stop all of that oil. If you can manage to double the recipe instead of re-making it and just add a non comedogenic oil instead of avocado oil, that could do the trick! Almond oil and apricot oil are both great.

    • @BetterSheaButter

      I would start with 1 ingredient only on your skin, try pure shea butter and rosehip seed oil, just alternate them one in the morning and one at night. If your skin likes them, you can then start formulating your own recipes with only a few ingredients and nothing synthetic. We have tons of recipes on our blog and here on youtube, most of them would honestly work for both body and face. Mica is easy to find on Amazon.
