Thank you from Michigan! I had to Herbicide my bamboo, our 5 ft snows and -14F below did not affect it, I love it’s beauty but could not control it. Do not remember variety. Send toots twenty feet away and up a new tree. Had to do round/up to remove it all. Such pretty trees and birds love them, zNever again.😁
Great video! What’s the depth and thickness of the bamboo barrier you used? Do you think thinning your bamboo grove could help? I’m thinking it will create more space for new shoots to emerge inside the barrier instead of escaping the barrier. I have no experience just speculating
That root ball is pretty thick. I don't know. It is 30 inches deep. I don't remember the thickness. But if you watch my very first bamboo video, you will see.
Recently discovered your channel when searching bamboo .. learning so much! I’m in Louisiana right outside of New Orleans. It’s called the North Shore… when I saw you crawling behind your bamboo. All I could think about is snakes! Half of my fence has bamboo already planted from a few years ago and I’m just going to add to it to finish the whole fence line.. but snakes prefer to live in that mulch underneath my bamboo .. I would be terrified to crawl back there .. thanks for the wonderful information !
Funny, I just got my bamboo seeds yesterday I'm germinating, bought a lot since bamboo seeds are hit and miss but I got borinda alboceria clumping bamboo and am stoked to germinate and plant it.
Aren't the runners you're finding from the running bamboo you planted 10 years ago (spectabilis)? Clumping bamboos don't have runners. I also noticed the bright yellow culms which are spectabilis.
Spectabilis RUNS. These clumpers spread but they don't run. The spectabilis would grow 5-10 feet easy in one growing season. And it wasn't even mature.
I love your videos!. And i grow clumping and running bamboo and i love bamboo plants they grow like a rocket and i have phyllostachys bissett and im thinking about tradeing it for a phyllostachys spectapilis or something could you tell me the difference between them.
@@watzegjemedaarnouvan Well, the spectabilis is going to be taller. 30 ft. vs about 20 ft. when mature. Spectabilis also seems a bit more upright. Spectabilis is also a brighter color (yellow culms) while the Bissetii is more of a dark green. I think the Bissetii will also form a more dense canopy. Both varieties can handle sun. Bissetii is likely more resilient when it comes to cold weather.
Thanks, I'm in baja California del sur, neighbour just built a 2.5 meter wall and is being a dick, won't let me add finish to my side... thinking about a bamboo border...
your channel is not boring 😆 I'm fascinated with bamboo
Thank you so much

That's running bamboo. Not what I have.

You're welcome! And, we don't have to worry much about snakes around here. One of the reasons I love the PNW.

Good luck! If you don't have any luck with the seeds you may have better luck with a single culm division off a larger plant

Hey ! I can see you have robusta in middle, are those 'Fargesia Robusta Pingwu ' Or ' Fargesia Robusta Campbell ' ? Very nice work !!
Campbell
Wow. What species is this? I use a saws all with a Diablo pruning blade.
Smart.
Three robusta plants. Two Scabrida plants.
I am worried that they will escape under the back fence.
I hope not! I just have to be more vigilant with my pruning
Are those one of those runoff bamboos or clumping?
Clumping

Tell me the varieties again?
@@myboringchannel Bissetti and the running bamboo you got rid of.

What are the varieties presented in this video? Are they cold hardy? Thx
@@nicolasrichard3266 Yes both are colds hardy. the one in this video is robusta and scabrida and robusta scabrida spreads more but robusta is taller.
