Vale is cultivating an audience of sadistic sociopaths who are willing to not only subject their friends but also themself through immense amounts of psychological torture for the simple reason of "why not?" and somehow manage to get people to willingly subject themself to the suffering...its fun to be an insane rat
My friend group once did something similar. We played a game of Star Wars Risk, but every dice roll was substituted with a game of Star Wars Miniatures (The tactics game when WotC had the license before Fantasy Flight) with the map being determined by the planet being invaded. We also included additional rules around the unique characters, where if they were defeated, they'd be on cooldown, forcing the players to use different pieces or retreat the units and cede points to the other player.
Was pretty fun, but we never finished, namely because of one player deciding to sap all the joy out of it by endlessly complaining whenever he was on the backfoot.

Yeah. And one of the main ways to distribute the game was actually just people copying the rules and making their own boards. Which led to like thousands of versions of the game. And then some salesman ghoul came around, claimed the rights for himself and sued against every other version basically monopolizing the concept of the basic game idea which makes the name quite accurate in another way I guess.
I was curious about this and did some googling
The game had two different rules, one where you competed against others to make the most money, and the other where you all work as a team to make money

Fun fact: because Vale has added even more ways to get into jail. And the only downside of not paying for properties is that you can go to jail. The probable optimal strategy is to never pay rent. In an attempt to either get to jail early or get teleported back to jail to give you more chances at buying the orange properties. As those properties are going to be the ones people land on once they get out of jail. And as more people are going to be going to jail than passing go that's the best way of making money.
another fun trick would be to first up, just buy up EVERYTHING, aiming to roll low, and just use 3/4 of your first round buying stuff and going into debt, and THEN try to get to jail all the time
God I love it when people actually come up with legit strategies for the terrible comedy Monopoly rules like in this video and the Communist Monopoly one. It really speaks to the autistic person inside me.

There’s a Monopoly clone that I found at a thrift store in Canada called “Poleconomy”. It’s essentially the same as monopoly only instead of properties it uses real Canadian companies as property and some as “Advertising” (the game came out in the 1980’s so it used now defunct companies). The game had an interest mechanic, government bonds, life insurance, business insurance, and the best part of the whole game was it had a parliament mechanic. You see the players at the start of the game roll for number of seats and the player with the majority of total seats can form a government or a group of players could form a political party and form a government (basically the same way the Canadian parliament works). In play throughs, players and I would LARP different political ideologies as a joke. The mechanic let whoever was in charge (the Prime Minister) enact policies throughout the game and there was quite literally no rules as to what policies could be enacted. One time the government passed a law that stated that at some point during the turn phase the players who weren’t in power had to give a set amount of money to those that were. Hilarity obviously always ensued. I would highly recommend it as a game you should try with the rest of the crew.

Symbolizing the "Inventor" Thomas Edison by unintentionally flipping the Tesla logo on its head is the best piece of accidental comedy I've seen all year
Thomas Edison was an incredible inventor alongside being a fantastic organizer for his team & did at least equal to Tesla. Both men worked on improvements to the lightbulb, the lightbulb predates either's birth but it was Edison's vision & understanding of how this could be brought to the general public & refined that drove this pursuit. Why Edison was brilliant & important has mostly to do with how he utilized existing infrastructure to innovate & create a national electric grid making it a commercial force usable by the general public & viable for immediate implementation. Though also Edison's work on audio recording, motion picture, essentially founding modern research industrial laboratory, advancements in batteries, erc were enormously important.
I tire greatly of people trying to remove his credit as an inventor.
Tesla was also brilliant in his field but also inflexible & impractical.

It's actually optimal! In normal Monopoly the best place to be when the properties are becoming scarse is jail. You pay nothing to the other players in Jail so you survive longer
@@aurastrike May be true, don't mean it ain't funny, especially considering it was accidental.
Honestly, whilst I don’t know how easy it would be for vale to replicate, I kinda want to see him and the gang play through No Rolls Barred’s “Communopoly” game, because Vale as Stalin torturing his friends through Stalinist communist policies could be hilarious.
It could be interesting but I don't think Vale could quite pull off Dom's insane characterisation. Also, it's not very nice to try and straight copy someone else's idea (although I have seen a Communopoly older than NRB's). Maybe Vale could design his own version, then that would be cool.

I was rooting for Dyno and actually was so surprised he got so far. Dynoheads stayed winning until we didn't. Essentially a big lifeboat too big to fail slashed to pieces, held together by sellotape and made with prison clothes.
The board having a retro arcade esthetic is perfect. Being reminded of the simpler times while going into debt is the true modern adult experience.
It’s all the rage nowadays: using nostalgia as a commentary on late stage capitalism a la old logo tshirts and vaporwave.
One thing I love with this, is the game theory we can consider. See, as in normal monopoly, paying rent never takes money out of the player pool, just causes it to trade hands; unlike normal monopoly however, the usage and repayment of loans means the bank continually takes money out of the player pool with every lap. We make two observations:
- Once the players have larger payments than salary, the player pool can only shrink, and all are doomed.
- However, given that the numbers are right, it's favorable for a player to buy (mortgage) a property as long as it sees enough traffic for rent to balance the payments.
Thus it settles on that fun sort of equilibrium where all players are incentivized to take actions which doom the players as a group! Actually the only saving grace is the presence of the Big Money tiles, which become purely beneficial once players are in debt.
Why does Dyno ALWAYS get the weirdest board-game plays? First in Uno he has a shit ton cards and wins, then he manages to survive to 2nd place by being in jail for so long
The game hates me and has it out for me
@@dynamo8846 you expected anything else? :)
after all properties have been sold, the optimal play is to go to jail, so you never have to pay anyone
This is amazing!
I have some suggestions for the next iteration:
- Instead of the homelessness role, if you land on an unclaimed property and decide not to buy it, you still have to pay it's rent to the bank.
- Prison Events: when you go to jail you roll for your sentence (how many turns you stay in prison). Instead of rolling to get out, you draw from a prison events deck. This deck contains some positive events like early release, but also negatives like extra prison fees (because US prisons are dystopic). There should be one card that's just "you get stabbed in prison" and is instant death, this could help discourage the prison tax evasion exploit.
- Instead of a gambling square, you should have the option on your turn to gamble from anywhere on the board. There is gamble and if you lose the money goes in the centre of the board. Whoever next wins also gets the pot in the middle of the board.
- A Crypto/NFT investment option...
- An election cycle that flips back and forth between two partys. Nothing changes, but the players can feel like they have some kind of hope when their favourite party wins.
- If you somehow end up with more than a billion $ you become immune to taxes and a perpetual "Get out of Jail Free" card.
Ok I love that last rule but how I the fuck are you gonna get more then a billion dollars
Maybe like, if you get more then 10 million? Just so there’s even the SLIGHTEST chance you would see that rule come into existence
Can I just say, that this board game design was so much more aesthetic than when Vale started making board games. Props to the art team, Maive and the rest included. Always such a joy to watch custom board game antics. The Debt is real.

There's still a caveat with public WiFi that as long as you're using TLS, say through HTTPS, you'll be fine. All a VPN will do is add another layer of encryption on top of your packets and route your traffic through their servers, hiding the IP of whatever sites you are visiting.

-Maybe when you get a "Go to Jail" you still resolve the stuff for passing Go but you cant make any money, so it's lose money or it doesnt change.
-Each time you go to jail the price of property, rent, and interest goes up, and if you go to jail a fourth time you lose.
-You cant have more than two loans and/or Mortgages at a time
-If you have to pay for something but cant afford to and cant take a loan, go to jail

I like how Dyno's iron piece gets comically larger everytime he goes to jail.
I saw your comment on DiploStrats global diplomacy variant and thought "oh god he's definitely gonna release a video on that in like 2-3 weeks." This is nice. But I seriously wanna see that 32 player global diplomacy game Vale

I can't believe valefisk made vancover in monopoly
Tbh my favourite joke this video was at 7:11; Mavi making Edison's logo an A which coincidentally looks almost exactly like a flipped Tesla logo is such an insane coincidence and it's absolutely brilliant and hilarious that it happened like that.
Even following corporate logo design philosophy, there are so many other ways to stylize an A... the fact it looks the way it does is truly remarkable.

Also... is there a special rule that stocks don't drop below 10% of their base? I noticed that the -1000% reduced it just to 10%. 🤔That's actually -90%.
