Rockpalast (Rock Palace) is a German music television show that broadcasts live on German television station Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). All-night marathon shows called “Rock Night” (Rocknacht) were produced once or twice a year from 1977 through 1986 and simulcast throughout Europe via the Eurovision network of TV broadcasters, thereby reaching around 25 million listeners on average. Rockpalast is involved in several German pop, rock and underground music festivals, once sponsoring the Bizarre-Festival.The founder and long-time producer of Rockpalast was Peter Rüchel together with Christian Wagner. Soon, Alan Bangs and Albrecht Metzger joined as hosts of the Rockpalast Nacht events. The J. Geils Band's song "Believe in Me" became the official Rockpalast intro tune ever since their first broadcast in 1976.
That was perfect and don't laugh that was me in my high school days 💯💯 They were one of the 1st rock bands I really liked ❤❤❤ Red have a great weekend and do something for yourself ok💯💯 You give us so much THANK YOU ❤🤍💙#redheadedneighbor #bestreactor #redsarmy #beautifulfuncountrygirl #heartofgoldwithmetalinhersoul #bestbadjokes #36K
Look. The hook is that in 38 special, they had a Rythm guitarist named Donnie Van Zandt. He was the the brother of Ronnie Van Zandt from Skynyrd. The other brother Johnny is now the singer. Travel to the south and and we all toast to all of the brothers. You rule Red. Have a great weekend. 🍀🍀🍀
I was watching a reaction from another reactor earlier, and commented that I had the album, on a cassette tape. Had this one on a cassette tape too. 1981 was my high school days.
That is exactly how it was 70s , mid 80s who is coming to town this weekend - wasted in the arenas wasted at the outdoor events - booze , weed , shrooms , acid , mda -- Van Halen first time in Vancouver BC in 1979 $8.50 was the ticket price in the arena . 1978 sold out outdoor stadium in Vancouver probably 35,000 people for an all day Summer Sunday event headlined by Heart with Little River Band , Bob Welch and others $14.50 got you in the door & heart blew up the place at the end . There are vids on here from that tour but not in Vancouver , Crazy on You is one & they did some Zeppelin covers
Regarding Donnie Van Zant & that bottle of Jack Daniels after they've finished the song . I had picked up on .38 Special because of the Van Zant connection in '79, so when they started their "Wild Eyed Southern Boys" tour that "Hold on Loosely " was the lead single for , I saw that they were playing at The Calderone Concert Hall on Long Island . At the time i had a job that was right near a Ticketron outlet so the day the tickets went on sale I was 1st at the window at 9AM and shock of shocks , I got 1st row tickets ! 🙂 I had already seen .38 Special open for The Outlaws and was aware that Donnie would break out a Bottle of J.D. to share with the audience . So after he took a slug from the bottle he handed it off to the front row . So when he broke out that Bottle at the show I went to , our 4 seats were on the aisle , and we're looking over to the center where the Bottle got handed off and to our drunken glee , the bottle came to our side of the aisle & we all got a nice swig out of it , each of us holding the bottle up to the band in cheerful salute before taking our nip 🙂
Had to Google that fancy Explorer looking guitar 🎸 thinking maybe Ibanez or Hamer?? Nope! Custom Gibson with mother of pearl inlay shaped as hawks! Cool!! Bass player looks like aluminum headstock,, maybe Kramer!!?? Awesome reaction neighbor! Thought you might recognize! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🤟🏼🎸
Saw them live twice back in the day. This song was all over the radio big time back then. One of those times was Them with MOLLY HATCHET and The OUTLAWS. A Southern Rock triple bill! By the end of the night, for the encore, was all 3 bands jamming onstage with at least 7 guys spaced out in a line across the front of the stage all playing in unison! I wish I could remember what song it was, but it was a hellava visual! The good ‘ol’ dayz.
Southern rock! Just get out and play!! They were such a fun band in concert❤and remain on my road trip playlist. You’ll probably remember another of their big hits “rockin in to the night”. As always, loved your reaction!
Yeah, 1980s Southern rock... I was 26, living in Charlotte, NC, where this song was on all the rock FM stations in heavy rotation. Somehow the juxtaposition of a rebel flag and long hair (they say 'har' around here) never made sense to me. But the song still does!
Saw them open up for...somebody lol... after reading that other post, maybe Journey? Parts of the 80's seem somewhat fuzzy now, actually. I know I saw them, though. Oh and they were tight musically with good vocals and harmonies.
I see a few Country songs in your history so I’d like to guide you to some more. Mark Chesnutt “I’ll Think of Something “ Mark Wills “Places I’ve Never Been” Randy Travis “ It’s Just a Matter of Time “. Then ANYBODY from the 90’s Country playlist!
You are correct, there is a Van Zant in the band. Donnie Van Zant is the youngest of the Van Zant brothers and he and Don Barnes, the vocalist on this song, formed .38 Special in 1975. 🙌🤙✌️

Cousin Jimmy had a gig and used to tour quite a bit
Nice to hear this again. This song shares a similar opening guitar line with another one of their hits, Caught Up In You. Great stuff.

Always liked the lead guitarist , vastly under-rated player !
