Donald Macneil The word moshing comes from hardcore dancing in the 80's. Back when reggae bands would play with hardcore bands. Some Jamaican guy called it "mashing", but it sounds like moshing due to his accent. The name stuck. In metal, it was just called pitting at the time. In the late eighties and early nineties when thrash started garnering more success, hardcore dancers would show up to thrash shows, as thrash is the mixture of speed metal and hardcore punk. The "moshers" made contact with the "pitters", and that's why the terms are confused. Moshing is not pitting, its hardcore dancing. Pitting is just pitting, but with different variations.

also, we dont have GPA in europe but i looked it up and i found "Your GPA or grade point average is important to admissions committees, not because it signifies your intelligence, but instead because it is a long-term indicator how well you perform your job as student" so yeah....you are good at studying. well done. like college is THAT a big deal. i did it. i got my degree. dont have the arrogance to think that means im some sort of genious though.

I don't really get the kung fu dancing stuff... I might in some cases, but not on this music, this is slam death metal, you mosh, you headbang, you gesticulate violently to the slam riffs (with as mucn respect and awareness for fellow metalheads around you as you can) and have fun... but cliche kung fu and hardcore antics? I'd say to each's own but seeing as how there's a lot of them doing I'd say this is more like a case of "monkey see and monkey do".
Personally, it defeats the whole point of extreme metal to me. But unlike most cunts commenting around here, I'm trying to contain my (often misplaced) rage.

Anwyay, I think the best proof to the fact that most of the public there is out of place, posers and made of idiots... is the fact that almost no one has long hair there. Don't get me wrong, long hair is by no means a must, or needed or a factor in being a metalhead... but the probability and the fact that most look like barely pubescent teens seriously indicates towards what I said above.
KATALEPSY... I can understand this was a great ("sensationalistic") show to take footage for a video from... but next time, try getting it from gigs where you guys play for metalheads, not random scene kids.
