He was wild in "unleashed" too, which they didn't mention. His family was taken from him and he was raised like an animal, until a girl came into his life and took his collar off and taught him otherwise. Near the end we find that he was hiding from men that either killed his mom(it's been years since I've seen the movie) but his overly-aggressive fighting was great.

If you think 🤔 the oriental actors have short limbs that make it looks fast when they move especially in martial art, but not powerful. I could said the same to Bruce, Jackie, Li, and Yen (Donnie). I have no respect for these actors as far as fighting goes. They are not tested on ring side. They are boring to watch on Movie. It just me that I don’t like action or martial art movie because it simply a movie. Fake to make 💰

Much respect for Jet Li. Well done with this presentation, Looper! :) Very nice recap of the martial artist's life and career up to this point. Really happy you included his thoughts on his Romeo Must Die costar, Aaliyah. Those were very sweet sentiments he had to say about her. You know both of them were asked to be in the Matrix sequels. Would have loved to have seen them on screen together again. I really enjoy how Jet Li wanted to incorporate philosophy into his movies, which I didn't see many action actors express so intently since Bruce Lee. It was so awesome having a new Jet Li film in theaters to look forward to. I'd always do my best to see the films during opening night. I'm glad to see he's living a good life, and striving to make positive changes in the world.

It's Christmas, 2020. Glad this was recommended. Perfect story about Jet Li (which I've never heard, and did not know about) at just the right time; in my personal history, and our world's. Thanks for publishing this. As someone I used to admire once said: One plants seeds, and some grow.

As a personal opinion: i'm glad that Li took the lead role in _Hero_
That movie is a true masterpiece in almost every aspect. And tbh i cry almost every time when seeing the movie.
This, _Fearless_ and _Once upon a Time in China_ are imho the best movies he made.

If I remember correctly Jet was a against showing that kind of affection on camera. That's why he's never had a real kiss on film. He had a quick peck with the actress who played his fiance on Once Upon A Time In China 3. But that is it.

Li has always been a fantastic martial artist and an increasingly talented actor. Movies like Hero, Fearless and surprisingly the movie Unleashed are great examples of Li showing off his dramatic chops. I hope we get to see more in the future.

Now *this* was a great video, which seems to be more and more rare on this channel recently. I think I may have to revisit Romeo Must Die tonight! As a fan of Jet Li, who even lived in China for nearly a decade, I was happy to learn some stuff about him tat I didn't know. That story about the tsunami was incredible. I can't wait to see his movie about it.

Every Actor has his own style, Bruce Lee, Jackie chan, Donnie Yen, Jet Li, Chow Yun Fat, Marc Dacascos and many more.. are Legends in their Martial art styles.
Jet li did play in movies with hidden ropes to make crazy looking moves like running on tree branches and stuff, but he is one of the funny actors who has humour, style and martial arts.

_Hero_ was one of the most strangely beautiful movies I've ever seen. Completely unique. _The Matrix_ was good, but _Hero_ was more original. Plus, _Hero_ wasn't dragged down by less-loved sequels, as this video pointed out. I didn't hate the _Matrix_ sequels, but it's hard to recapture what makes a really good movie good without doing the same thing over and over or disappointing fans. Hollywood is in a real rut right now. I'm a bit conflicted because I actually like some of the remakes and sequels that other fans don't. At the same time, I also see the stultifying lack of originality. The most unique movie I've seen recently--despite the fact it's animated and _yet another_ superhero movie--is _Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse_ . Like _Hero_ it is strangely beautiful and I can't get enough of its gorgeous colors.

One of the better youtube video's i watched since it changed my mind about someone that i thought would never be able to be done and just want to say thank god i didn't find out more about him during those Hurricanes since it would have been a huge news story if it went the other way for so many others. Also i didn't know about his health issues and that fills in some blanks for me about him and his career.
