That watch is awesome! I don't have a Longines in my collection, but I need to change that soon. Great vid!
Thanks for checking out our review! - Let us know if you do add one to your collection :D
This is marvellous.
Simple, practical, clean and clear.
Most importantly, it matched my wrist
Sold me. Mine arrived. Finest watch I've ever owned.
Long lug to lug reminds me of my Hamilton Field Watches and the Murph. I have flat 8” wrists and adore the way these sit absolutely flat and stable on the wrist 😃
Great review, very inspiring. Great watch too, so great that I.. ...well, just bought it! Thanks for posting
That Lug to Lug is way too long.
and there's a huge gap between the lug holes and the case itself. should've been a 48mm length maximum.
We get this feedback a lot.
I generally prefer shorter lugs, but these lugs taper downward a lot so it fits better than youd expect from 49mm.
Great work Longines.
This and the BB58 - the perfect 2 watch collection for the modest guy. Not too flashy, not a name-drop, reasonable value for money (if there is such a thing in the luxury watch world), and timeless designs.
Take away the BB58 and add the pelagos lhd and there you go
Totally agree with You on Your choices!
Definitely a great alternative to the explorer on a lower budget. Not perfect but not much to complain about here. Surely a watch to consider.
Definitely agree with you there!
For my eyes, a fantastic face and hands. One of the best styling for everyday watch. Again for me, more interesting and attractive than Rollie OP or Explorer design-wise.
It could fit into my everyday watch rotation for sure!
That is one hell of a bold statement, and I agree with it!
Excellent review! I was about to order this but then realized the bracelet doesn't quite match and a huge gap with straps. Otherwise a perfect watch.
Another great video guys!
We can always count on your support, Thanks!
@@watchgecko Absolutely guys!
Ooh nice watch simple and purposeful.
Agreed!
I can’t get enough of these good ole long jeans!
Okay thats kinda funny :D
🤣🤣
Hi I have the blue 40mm version and it’s a great watch with real class. Only drawbacks are I would not recommend for a wrist of less than 6.75 inches, my wrist is just under 7 inch and it works just. These comments apply to the bracelet model which I like a lot, the strap model will ware slightly smaller and suit a slightly smaller wrist. Also although a COSC watch on wrist it runs about -5.5 sec per day , off wrist about -4 sec not bad but why not set a COSC watch more towards positive as a general rule is watches seem to run a couple seconds slower when worn as in my case.
Mine (also blue) only plus 2secs a day.. Great watch!
I love this watch
With blue dial it's superb!!!
Could they not have moved the dated window a few mm to the right?
You were right!
Funny that you mention Tudor and the Black Bay. This exact version of the Spirit gives me the same vibes as my BB58 did.
Great minds :P
Longines made a great job with this watch, at first i also regretted that i have purchased longines conquest 39mm last year and said to myself i would wait more but no! That feeling was till i see this new release spirit in real. Yes that’s still great but too big. Weirdly that 40mm case is too big. 40mm watch wears like 42-43mm. So for now i am ok with my conquest 39.
I love both the conquest and the spirit (in blue). How's your experience with the Conquest? Still enjoying it?
@@vagaboots Hi, even if it doesn’t get enough wrist time, it always has a place in my collection. I like the size(most people around me have 41-43mm version of the Conquest and they regret). The only negative was the butterfly clasp and i changed it with a hydroconquest double extension clasp and now it is even much better. 300m wr and 64h power reserve, so that’s great for the price👍
@@umutaydogdu1502 Thanks for the feedback. Greetings from Italy
01:43 "...small, diamond shaped squares..." ? I must have overlooked that shape in geometry class?
It seems that all Longines watches have ridicuous lug to lug measurements. Some idiot at Longines thinks that this is a "feature". It's not. It makes your product line unwearable for anyone with a wrist diameter below average. This would eliminate 50% of your potential market straight out of the gate. Will Longines ever figure this out?
The massive gap between the case and the strap caused by these enormously long lugs is also not a "feature".
100% agree, the long lug to lug is one of reason why I can't wear longines. I have small wrist and big gap between lug and strap is horrible for eyes.
Thanks for your feedback!, We hope you enjoyed the review.
It became a signature of Longines or long jeans then 🤣🤣👊👍
These are holy statements.
Like Hamilton khakis , ridiculous forks instead of lugs.
I would like to see them modify the numeral finish on their VHP Conquest model in black and blue to make them more legible. They would be an awesome watch then.
That could be cool!
Beautiful watch... I just wish it was 38mm in diameter and maybe 46 or 47 lug to lug
Hello my friend, my wrist is 16.5cm. Which one do I buy? 40mm or 42mm? THANKS
Buy the newer 37mm
A dateless version and I'm sold
Say no more.
Nice review but I completely disagree with his comments about the Longines Hydroconquest line. Both the Spirit and the Hydroconquest lines are great value propositions within their respective categories! They’re both beautifully made watches that serve completely different purposes!
The hydroconquest is a good watch but the bracelet is fucking horrible. It's beyond terrible and a diver with a shitty bracelet is a hard sell for me, specially when it's a modern looking watch so leather or natos look weird on them. The divers 65 is a way better watch in my eyes even if it has a worse wr and movement.
It’s a lovely watch and I thought I’d go and take a look but those lugs are so long ,it just puts me off really .
Reminds me of the Hamilton khaki MURPH
why did i always think longines is one of those unobtainable expensive brand
Great video, but the S is silent in Longines!
nearly 50mm lu to lug??? Really exited at the first place but with this huge gap, sorry, not this time!
One thing that more people will take a look at Longines new products, rather wear a looks boring smart watch.
Lug to lug kills this nice design for Me:(
That's a shame maybe it would be worth trying it on in-person if you ever get the chance? thanks for checking out our review!
@@watchgecko i did try :( way too long for a skinny wrist guy like Me and i lived the watch
@@emreisiklar same with my situation...
Big, glossy, the steel bracelet version Is the best but 50mm L2L Is too much. Totally deceiving after a second look.
The movement is COSC certified and it has 25 200 vp/h, not 25 600.
Nice, but really dislike the date at 3. Otherwise a beauty. Shame.
Thanks for the review 👍🏻
Thanks Steve!
12 mm thick?? How is this so thick?
Looks like the Hamilton Khaki Field
"long jeans" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why isn’t it running ? It’s a must when reviewing a watch.
I agree they should be running but if you listen carefully they did at least actually address this.
Lug to lug is stopping me from buying this
I love this BUT THE LUGS ARE TOO LONG. This in a 38 and 47 /20 lug would be perfect. It's a stunning watch, especially on the bracelet.
Nice watch but to much “stars”. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.
I completely agree , it ruins it
We kinda like the stars :D
I agree. I’m not too much a fan of the stars.
One of my favorite from this watch is the stars :))
If only this was 36mm and with shorter lugs!
38-40 is the sweet spot. At 36mm they start losing the average buyer
One thing about Longines is most of their watches has long ass lugs. 🤦♂️
Not a fan of the longer lugs?
Looks pretty cool to me 😎
Nice to see long lugs, much better for a larger wrist 😁
I wish it was 37-39 mm with shorter lugs and smaller gap between the case and the strap
72 h power reserve
To me, this watch is perfect except long lugs. I wish they make a smaller one.
The watch it's awesome, but the prices it's cocaine...
The lug to lug distance is too much
PLEASE stop saying the 's' at the end of Longines ... it's WRONG!!!!
21mm lug width is a huge turnoff.
21mm can be difficult to work with, what did you think of our strap suggestions?
I refuse to buy any watch with an odd number lug width.
why is everyone complaining about this being big? it's a pilots watch. a la the Big Pilot which is significantly larger. this is how they wear. it's like buying a truck and complaining that it's too big. just asinine
The 49mm lug to lug distance kills it for me. Too bad.

Looks great, but just too expensive for this brand. They need to offer more value to lure customers away from next tier brands. PS: I'm totally okay with your pronunciation.
The watch is a bargain at £1750, you will realise that when you see it in the metal.
Thanks for the support Sean :P
@@coffeeboyclips1973 100%!
Read up on Longines history
Just try it and you will understand
It has 72 hours of power reserve……
Long jeans.??? Really,,, lol.
The stars are so tacky and cheapen the watch. Otherwise, it looks fantastic.
its pronounced "Longine" the s is silent.
Be nice if you could pronounce LON ZHEEN how can you possibly be taken seriously.? Stick to straps difficult to pronounce NATO incorrectly. All these watches look better on the steel bracelet anyway.
the 5 stars ruins it... is this a joke ?
Why?
@@lenglain because this does not belong on the dial of a watch...this is a wrist watch not a hotel
@@MrCarFanatic The stars are meant to be military stars like a "5-star general". In the 50s and 60s the Longines' "Admiral" series had 3 stars and 5 stars on its watch dials, again to give a military connotation like a 5 star admiral.
The spirit series, meant to be a pilot watch, had the stars I believ to reinforce the "military" character of this pilot watch. (It's not meant to represent commercial airline pilots ). This gives the watch a vintage military vibe and is a reference to Longines' history
@@lenglain I know, i heard this before but as far as design goes is not a good thing , this watch is finished so nice and has so good design, in my opinion not everything should be a reference to the past, i would love to own this watch but not with the stars on it's dial and i think many other people are in the same camp , maybe you appreciate the detail somehow but would you wear a watch with 5 stars on it's dial ?
@@lenglain Right now i scrolled down and i see more people complaining about this design "flaw" , and i think many more think the same... it's not a good look for a luxury item to have such things..
Looks like a Hamilton
