The North Wales route should be featuring on the channel again soon, and I did Shrewsbury to Swansea last year! :) ua-cam.com/video/7co2vFoSYh4/v-deo.html
Oooh great timing, I was just looking for something to watch to relax and spotted a new upload from you! Really cool that this route has such a personal connection for you, and ironic given your comeback run was a route that was so personal for me! Hope you're doing well 😊
May I salute a fellow Lincolnian! Actually I was born at R.A.F.Nocton in (gulp) 1961, although we only lived there for 2 years before being posted to Germany and elsewhere. However, these days we regularly make this journey when visiting friends who live near Horncastle. I must say Lincoln Central looks very familiar in this simulation.
I remember hearing folk refer to St Mark’s, though I never used it. I knocked around Lincolnshire quite a lot in the 70’s when my Grandma was still living in Boston.
I like the shadows cast by the foliage at 15:30 It's nice how this route joins up seamlessly with the Midland Mainline if you buy both directly from Just Trains. I'd already bought Leicester - Nottingham/Derby and Derby - Sheffield via my Steam account but when I discovered they didn't join up I discussed it with JT and they allowed me to download both routes directly from them. I've since added the Matlock route, the Erewash Valley and this one and they join up seamlessly. I'm looking forward to the Hope Valley route and hope they do the Robin Hood line one day because Mansfield was my home town as a kid.
I really struggle to learn this route myself and to learn where the shut off and braking points are. Because the line is so straight and flat compared to the rest of the MML. There's not many memorable landmarks.
I have never been on the Northgate route, as a kid always was Newark Castle but I always hated the water crossing into Newark Castle (had a fear that the train would derail into that crossing)
We’d all love to see you let your hair down and drive in some crazy conditions. I think I can remember you trying an hst out of somewhere in Cornwall that was epic
2 videos in less then 24 hours, what a nice surprise! A great video PTG as always. I have a soft spot for the 153s that also operated this route though, any chance of a 153 video at some point?
Again, I know you aren't taking requests, but the upcoming Long Island Railroad would be a fantastic route with which to do a route learning video. The signalling on the route is unique and actually tells you what your maximum speed would be at various points on the journey. cActUsjUiCe made the route, and I have a guide he made up back in the TSW days for how the signals are to be interpreted (likely to be in the manual as well in some way). Might be a good one to try out if you have the time for it; it's out in a week.
Thanks for another good video. I have only ever been over the flat crossing, but many times, on the ECML - definitely a surprise the first time at line speed which was at least 100mph. I have been on most of this route once - 6 years ago on a southbound HST diverted off the ECML at Doncaster because of, as I recall, a trackside fire near Retford. So, HST - no wires, no problem.
Thanks for the overview of this route - haven't travelled on it myself, but it looks decent enough. And yes, I agree that stretch of track is well overdue a line speed increase, especially given how it is mostly flat!
many of the scenery segments at the start and end of your videos are okay and then you have those that are anything from blah to amazing. I would have to say that this is one of your most spectacular entries into a video not just in sight but in sound also.
I lived in Eastbourne longer than I did in Lincoln, and I can remember my time there much better as I was older! Thanks for the comment, I’m glad you enjoyed my videos. :)
Can you do a route learning video for North Wales Coast Line or Welsh Marshes please :)
Please this would be awesome

I just commented on one of your videos. Nice cosplay! Haha 😅
Thanks man, I hope you enjoy this video. :)

I'm old enough to have used Lincoln St Mark's station, which closed in 1985 when this featured line from Nottingham was rerouted into Lincoln Central.
I remember hearing folk refer to St Mark’s, though I never used it. I knocked around Lincolnshire quite a lot in the 70’s when my Grandma was still living in Boston.
When I was a kid, the St Marks area was just a wasteland that was boarded off by a big wooden fence. It's changed so much today!
I'm from Lincolnshire too Peter.
Great view of the Cathedral at the start.
👍
I live in lincoln rn!
Up the imps!
Special thanks for this one Peter, all the best from Lincoln 👍
You can't beat a Cummins on a sprinter
I love how this is so realistic! Especially this route and the details especially in Lincoln! :) :)

Robin Hood and Poacher Line are on my wish list from them now
13:00 the sounds... :O weow
The wheels were slipping, hence it kept powering down and then up again! :)

I love Lincolnshire because I go on holiday up to Woodhall Spa, and my cat is named Lincoln

Train:comes into platform with crossing gates closed
Van: *I do not care*

I will cover a Class 153 in the future if it ever gets updated by JT or AP. It's a bit too dated these days and I really don't enjoy driving it!
i can not make a scenario from linclon Central to Nottingham as i brought the midland mainline on steam
The LNER Azuma that you passed after Collingham should be a 5 car as this is what is typically used on the route.
9-cars have been used on this route, so I chose a 9-car to make it more noticeable. :)
The flat crossing at Newark is the last remaining crossing of that type on the National Rail network

I don't know what that van was doing 😯
Did you have a big old wheelspin leaving hycombe? 😉
I sure did, that’s why the engine kept powering up and down!
Class 156. One of my favourite mate. So happy your back

Do you think I should start recording and uploading videos on my youtube channel? Great video keep up the great work
Another one, so soon!?!? Someone is on a roll... Not that I'm complaining or anything.

ok now this one i actually seem to enjoy! as this route is one of my favourites!
It’s a really well made route! I was very impressed with how Lincoln looks, and the track work is spot on.
@@PTGRail I can most definitely agree! it’s a shame i haven’t managed to buy this route yet!
Thanks Peter, a real treat watching this, the all junctions labelled etc. Many thanks.
The foot crossing you remember was removed a few years ago after an incident
Cool video buddy from Alan in Lowestoft
Brilliant, PTG finally gets to my home line
Excellent as always my home city too
Great video and nice to have these route learning videos back, From Eastbourne.
I lived in Eastbourne longer than I did in Lincoln, and I can remember my time there much better as I was older! Thanks for the comment, I’m glad you enjoyed my videos. :)
Amazing Video I have a Video Request
As I said on my first comeback video, I'm not taking requests at the minute. :)
