- I refuse to put Early Access on this review until RCTW is fully released, until then this is my opinion. I refunded RCTW and there isn't going to be any more until it is significantly improved.

The RCT series was my youth and I always had a soft spot for it, but Atari (not Nvizzio, or any other developer) decided to destroy it... That makes me really really sad...Luckily the developers of RCT3 decided to make an awesome successor to RCT3, so that kinda fixes everything for me ☺ , but man I'm angry at Atari!Also, great video Nekk. Has anyone noticed that the models for the guests are essentially 3D rips from the Sims 4? They literally made Sims in the Sims 4, ripped there models from there, and ported them over to RCTW and made them guests. It's probably explain them not blinking too.

For your delectation I have compiled a list of a few things that have been wrong from the start of RCTW
1. Shit peep animation
2. Terrible frame rate (no optimisation)
3. Awful snapping system
4. Long loading times
5. Graphics are wank
6. UI looks wank
7. Water looks like blueberry jam
8. Water tool is difficult to use you'll end up flooding your park
9. No waterfalls
10. Coasters break so no cool loops - has to be SAFE!
11. Peep AI is easily broken
12. Terrian brush changes size the further out the camera is
13. Very limited scenery
14. Path snapping is bad/non-existent
15. Painting the terrain will reduce frame rate to near 5
16. Changed studio about 3 times
17. Pushed back release dat from early/mid 2015 to early 2016
19. Hit the release date in EARLY ACCESS
20. It's a buggy mess

I got a planet coaster ad before this video
I really wanted to like this game. After the first preview I even wrote a Steam review defending it since, well they needed people to test out what I thought would be the buggiest part of the game so I didn't think giving them hell over it was justified.
However, now, I'm switching to Planet Coaster, maybe I'll check back in on it in a year or so to see if they've fixed the bugs and made it good, but I'm sadly, not very optimistic.

I remember the original RCT and the countless hours I spent playing that series. Even RCT2 was great. I feel like it went downhill after that. This is unfortunate.

Honestly, I fully agree with the review. Planet Coaster is clearly a better game, and *it is earlier in its development cycle*.
For anyone who doesn't know, this means that Planet Coaster is much "farther" from being finished, yet it is already at a state where it *could* be released as a full game, if it weren't classified as a management game.
Both games do have optimization to work on, but Planet Coaster, once again, beats RCTW despite the fact that *it shouldn't even be as optimized as RCTW*.
I have been hearing that I shouldn't judge the game based on how RCTW is now, but I don't care anymore. Honestly, I still actually hope that this game will be good, *I want it to be good*. But, I am worried that isn't the case.
I really hope this game will turn out at least okay, but it just might not be able to turn out so.

The most basic thing, path building, doesn't work. I'm not going to be nice to the developers. That section needs a rewrite from the ground up (which they're not going to do). I shouldn't have given them a dime. Stay away from this crap.

Good video. I haven't had a chance to play the early access build yet but the overwhelmingly negative reviews of it so far are pretty disconcerting.

Had a quick look at their wikipedia page.
They use the Unity engine.
umm... yeah... Unity is awesome, use it myself, but: It's a general purpose game engine.
A hyped AAA game, as many expect RCTW to be, they are expected to use their own engine, tailored for the type of game they make. Using Unity, they prove they don't know how to make AAA games.
Aaaand, I also read on the wiki page that they are promising the graphics " receive a major overhaul" when they update the engine from Unity 4.6 to Unity 5. That's a bad idea. Unity change a lot between versions, and updating is high-risk and takes a lot of time.
So yeah. RCTW is a doomed project.
Right before the video ended, I saw an ad for RCT World, like ANYONE would buy it after seeing this.

You're totally right! I can only add one rhetorical question. Why, with each incarnation of RCT - do they throw out the baby with the bath water? They tossed out the visual concepts of construction from RCT 1 & 2 with easy to place objects and cool little touches like working doors for creating haunted houses, ...they threw all that out and replaced it with walls and roofs that don't line up easy, none-functioning doors and action pieces. They improved the trains, monorails and water transports, except that the peeps stupidly use them as rides and not transports, so they don't work for giving peeps a way to travel around a large park. Lame.
This version of RCT follows that tradition and is the very paragon of the baby/bathwater analogy. What a fucking disappointment! I was really rooting for these guys to make this great and put my money in a year ago in support. As they kept pushing back the release date I got a bad feeling about it. From the first download I saw the red flags. I have a pretty good PC for gaming, but can't complete the first level - Frolicking Forrest! WTF?! And as you pointed out, the more added to the game, the slower it gets, the longer it loads, and eventually it freezes up completely. Even with the low-graphics settings and a minimal selection of rides, the game runs worse and worse as more coasters are added. The wooden coasters (which I really liked in RCT3) are the worse here. The peeps even refuse to ride the coaster I wasted 30 min constructing, but prefer queuing up for the platform rides! Yes sir! This is laughably bad.
Make no mistake, this game was never meant to be good. From the start they have been pulling horrible things and acting like amateurs, because Atari basically hired amateurs. It was always a cash grab.The development cycle has been a mess, the game has been an even bigger mess, I don't even have confidence this game will be fully released. But you know what? I don't really care. If this was the only Coaster sim out there I would, but it's not...so I don't. It's sad to see a franchise be corrupted in such a way, but really this doesn't even resemble the game I grew up with.

This is what happens when developers and publishers clash. Devs want to do or add things to make the game better but it all has to go through the rigmarole of approval through Atarivision. When the publisher does not like what a developer is doing they can them which is probably why they went through development hell on this title. That or the devs get fed up with being suppressed and shut down on their ideas and walk off a project which is never good for a title either way. It's sad rally when I first heard of RCTW I had high hopes for it not high expectations, but high hopes in that they would truly bring the genre to a new height. Alas I'm afraid that torch has been passed.

But from what I've been hearing about it Its going to have to be on sale for me to buy it.
Maybe for around $20 I would just to hope I'll find something to enjoy in it.

rctc should have allways stuck to the rctc2 theme, modularity & simplicity. If each new release of the game would just build on the same old engine it would be so amazing.
I'm not so sure about that. I think the move to 3d graphics was a logical step for the series, the only problem is that they didn't stick with it. We only got one game that was 3D and that was over a decade ago. We should have had new games in that span of time that evolved and changed how things work for the better but since we didn't, people have only had RCT3 to look at and that was not a masterpiece that has held up with the times. I personally think RCTWs problem is that rather than trying to take what's old and what works and make a new game accounting for 10 years of essential "dark ages" they just made a game that is more of a direct follow up of RCT3 (RCTW to me really just looks like the game we would have had released 2 years after RCT3 with a graphics boost) that's why I am with Planet Coaster right now though. They are accounting for the 10 years lost and taking what works and it's great because it feels like no time was lost at all, (because Frontier never really stopped making theme park games, just RCT.)

All of your points are absolutely spot on, I really am starting to regret pre-ordering the deluxe edition... Coulda easily taken my 60 dollars and put em towards the $75 PC. I have about 6 six hours into the game at this point and I've pretty much exhausted all it has to offer. The scenarios are crap, campaign is crap, sandbox is meh, blueprint coasters look like they were made by a two-year-old, etc. etc.
If it's on steam you might be able to get a refund. I pre ordered in October, had 11 hours of game time, and they still gave me a refund. I said that I hadn't actually played a second of a finished game that I'd payed for, considering all of the hours were either beta or early access. You may be able to do the same.
I just requested a refund, I told them about my problems with its optimization and just running in general (mind you my computer's specs blow the suggested out of the water lol). I'm hoping they do refund me, although I couldn't use the money on PC since it isn't on Steam :/

I got it through Steam, I don't like buying virtual games off of the developer's site honestly. I ended up getting the refund, just have to wait 24 hours for it to go through.

I really was excited when I heard about this game. I've loved RCT3 since the day I got it. When I found out this game turned out to be garbage I was very disappointed to say the least. I really can't get over how awful it is. What's even more outlandish is Atari is selling hard copies in stores now, and it's so deceitful to the casual buyer. If I didn't know anything about games, and I saw a game on a shelf, I would assume it was finished. I'm probably wouldn't think to check it for small print that says, "you must have a steam account to play this game's early access version." It's so underhanded, and I'm in awe at how far Atari will go to try to sell this garbage.

This is sad, I was debating whether I should get this or Planet Coaster.... yeah Planet Coaster wins by a big longshot, but the one thing that I'm curious about is, like rct3 and the other rct games, in Planet Coaster can you make your own peeps, I loved that part of rct3, and if I can't make peeps in Planet Coaster I'll be disappointed in that sense
As of right now the only thing you can make is an in game Avatar of yourself. Other than that you cant exactly make peeps. Thats not to say they wont add this feature in the future though.

RCT World is shit.. Im sorry, but quality is the first thing that is recommended when creating a game. If you want to consider going classic, RCT1 is on Steam for $1.50 and is a great game imo. Id only consider Planet Coaster if your computer has enough GBs of RAM for it to run.

I think it's not even going to get much better than that, it doesn't feel like some early access games that starts with a good concept but almost no content, yet the developers put a lot of effort in it while listening to the community and make really good additions to the game in the process and end up with a popular and fun game... this is not gonna happen with RCTW :/

it was supposed to be out dec 2014 originally, and to say its took so many delays to get to this, hell they will have to delay it to 2020 for anything decent to come of it at the rate of progression. but wait it's a cash grab so they will probably suff the FEW features that still ant there and say here you go it and run to the high hills before the mob comedown on them, but by then pc will have probably came out no one will care for it like the idea of them using steam workshop means there relying on people to produce things for there game as there cba like they have had 3 years + working on this bs, it makes me question who big is the dev team like how little funding is Atari well infogranes putting into this game but this bs has distracted use all from the descrase which was rtc4 mobile. Personally i think shit like this should be Illegal and the people in-charge should be locked away in there copy and paste theme Jail and some one should try and jump in and give Mat Lab and people who care the resources to produce something to compete with pc.
I hope they improve this game. I'll still buy this game no matter how many bad reviews this game has.

The graphics look wayyyyyy different than the actual beta that was released back in November. I think they dumb downed the graphics, than later just did an update saying they upgraded them, but I can clearly see the difference from when the beta was released and the shitty graphics they have now. They truly ruined a classic. There's no hope for this game, I''m hoping somebody the works their come out in say its just a bad dream.

I am so so so disappointed with this game and its so frustrated. I had so many expectations that have basically been shat on. From the beginning there was simply no attention to detail at all. I don't know why they are still bothering. Even if the game was free I'd rather put pins in my eyes.
