I remember me and my cousin pulling all nighters on the weekend playing this. We'd hand off the controller to get all those endurance races

You are right insane graphical and gameplay jump, my problem with it is 4 blew it out of the water and 2 was superior on the content front imo. Great game don't think I would revisit unless to have some fun with the 996 gt3 and diablo race car though.

Well, the Formula GT championship was supposed to simulate what a normal F1 season was. That 78 lap race at Cote de Azure is the Monaco GP.

Edge magazine had a feature on this game recently. I loved this game but it was sad to see the used cars scaled back so much
I didnt owned PS1, I was a N64 kid, so, when in 2001 I got my PS2 (by selling all my old consoles) and got GT3 as my first and only game, I was blowened away and in an instant crush.
Im still a Polyphony fan boy.
Such good times.

Always been a Gran Turismo fan though the games have always been hard as nails. I actually just re-bought this game mostly for nostalgia cause I had it in my college days and because my wife still has a working PS2 that I regularly buy games for when I find good deals on them. GT3 only cost me $5 and the replay value alone will pay for the game. I'm mostly into the arcade mode because it has a lot of good cars to start but I may have to try your strategy with buying the Miata and then dropping in the power pack when I win a few races. Cheers. 😊

Great review. Its impossible to overstate how ridiculously good this game was. I kind of view it similarly to games like Tecmo Bowl and NBA Jam in the sense that unless one experienced it in the context of the video game landscape at the time it was released, its virtually impossible to communicate just how transcendent GT3 was in every imaginable way.

I just got this game for the first time and i love it 🥰 ive always wanted to play it as a kid but never got it.
My favourite starting car has to be Mazda MX-5. But the issue is the fact that I don't have enough money to tune it up properly, so it might have not been best starting car, since later races do kick my ass due to lack of money for upgrades. GT 3 is my very first Gran Turismo game, so there are some things I'm not fully familiar with. But over all it's a fun racing game over all.
actually if you beat the Sunday Cup without upgrading, then buying the stage 1 turbo, it can brute force some events (i.e Clubman Cup, FR Challenge and the 80s cup), hell you can even enter the Roadster Endurance if you want to, also thanks
I got all gold on b license before starting so I got an even better miata with 160hp. 190 with a few upgrades
You probably forgot that about the 4 prize car. The Endurance race has that 4 prize car too. Ive done 4 of them: the 60 Lap for Grand Valley Speedway, 2 hours Rome Circuit race, 50 laps on Special Stage Route 11 and that 78 laps on Cote de Azur. Some events has that same car that were not on sale.
GT3 A-Spec was and is the best Gran Turismo ever , I would also say that it's in the top three best driving games ever .
