Tucked in right elbow and slowing down my back swing and initial down swing. I’ve add these two insights from Saguto to other insights that has improved my game by 7 stokes. The other two improvements before these two were ,keeping my weight on my left leg and keeping my right arm straight. Grateful for your approach to golf.

We went to the range and she went from slicing out of the range onto the first hole to hitting straight shots after doing this for about 15 minutes. I told her watching your videos have helped to get me to go from shooting 80s, to 70s. Best round I had prior to this was 83. Few bad shots from consistently being in the 70s, and now, last 5 rounds I’ve played highest score was 78, lowest 75. You just out there doing the lord’s work and we appreciate you!! To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ua-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/v-deo.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content.

@@SagutoGolf Tom, thank you. I have been playing this game for 30 years and have never been able to improve until you simplified things for me. There was always a part of my game that left me every time I played until I followed your instructions. So I am thrilled with the progress, I just need MORE CLUB-HEAD SPEED with my driver, which still escapes me. But that’s on me. The ball still goes straight.

Tom, another gem. Recently realized this move is the key to a great takeaway and simple downswing. I am now compressing irons instead of sweeping them or flipping them. The right elbow tuck and back of the elbow facing out (like giving blood), forces me to have a full shoulder turn and the down swing is as I simple as unloading right back down the takeaway path through your right shoulder. It's hard for the arms to disconnect from the body when you're tucking one of them into your body on takeaway. I really feel my right hand and full body powering through the ball then ground with this move. Like skipping a pebble.

This has completely changed my game (especially with irons and wedges). I had been keeping the lead arm straight. I shortened my backswing. I kept the trailing elbow tucked. All that and I was STILL getting inconsistent contact. Then I remembered this video and rewatched it. Holy cow. Crispy KFC. SOOO much more consistency, which leads to more confidence. Straighter shots, even a little draw now, with a good apex. Thanks Tom!!

PS: By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.

I wish I'd seen this video 30 years ago. Like so many players, I tried to overanalyze my swing and took far too many lessons from far too many teachers and read too many books and articles, all with conflicting theories. This was the simple swing thought I've been looking for all my golfing career. Saguto keeps it simple, funny, and easy. This swing thought will make the game fun for me again.

    • @SagutoGolf

Unfortunately, Chris, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎
Consider that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of modern “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). I was victimized by this as well early in my golfing career, and after "seeing the light" and adopting this swing system that is rooted in physics and geometry and modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers, I’m doing my best here to clear these errors up one by one and put an end to this madness.
To this end I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!!
Now, if you would really like to make up for all that lost time and get on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform, please consider my online school. It will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. The school is where you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.
And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ That is where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner.

I’ve been watching your videos lately and they are helping. I played collegiate golf 20 plus years ago. I coach golf now in high school. Your tips got me hitting lower more penetrating balls after just one range session. Could have used you back in college. One thing that really helped was keeping my left arm close to my body on my back swing. I had gotten away from that and was hitting the ball really high. Thanks again - coach Mitchler. I’ll send these tips on to my students.

It is hard to overstate the magic of that tucked in elbow. I struggled with low point consistency for years and in a matter of days or weeks, (most) of it went away....and I added what felt like effortless extra yardage. Added tip....try wearing a down vest at the range. At least for me, wearing it seemed to add a sense of connection to my body and I had more crispy iron shots than ever before. Thanks Tom for the great tips over the years.

I appreciate your down vest suggestion. I'm sure it can help to reinforce those critical connections, though I can't quite fathom wearing one right now as it's about 900 degrees in the shade here. (In other words, just another typical South Carolina summer... 😎)

Tom I have been following you for quite a while and have utilized the right arm magic concept to good success. But I think this video really helped me better understand the importance of keeping the tucked in feel throughout the downswing. I just came back from the driving range and had my best session in years. My driver was much better than it has been, but there is still room for improvement. The slower I start the downswing (which you also cover in detail in other videos) expecially with the driver, the better the strike.
Correct me if I am wrong but is it true that countless golfers across the globe have overcome a myriad of issues and experience great ball striking by tucking in the trail elbow?

I feel like I'm making real progress with my swing after watching a few of your older videos about shortening the backswing. This video only compounds on that information. I was hooking or pushing and getting the occasional decent draw. Recorded myself and my swing was way overcooked, I would completely break down at transition. Elbow flying out, lead arm breaking down, hands fighting to get the face square and on path at contact. Shortened my backswing like you suggested, keep that right elbow locked to my ribs and that made me get closer to the ball and the contact is night and day when it comes together! Just have to groove this new simple swing in!

Young Tom the professionals - professional . demon straights complete ergonomics in the Golf swing . every thing is cause and effect .no matter what injury it will occur If you try and make the body muscles fight against each other .Young Toms right elbow tucked in immediately from the take away to contact and follow through the spine -hips - legs - muscles are working in unison not fighting each other .and obviously the entire sequence naturally falls into place .a win win situation .in 80 years the best thing when I first came across Young Tom . I mentioned my golf swing resembled an Octopus all legs and arms .no wonder I was never on the Tour LOL. but all thanks to Young Tom I can not wait to get out for the next game not one fat thin shot .I wonder if I can play in the seniors - seniors Tour .🥰
