Haven't listened to this song in close to 10 years; it just popped up on my UA-cam. I am actually listening to the lyrics more intently now, and this song doesn't sound as fun as it sounded back in the day. It sounds like a very dreamy high that's going to turn into a fucking nightmare as the song implies.
every time i listen to this song it reminds me of this short story i read about an all american young couple expecting. they live on a construction site in motel rooms, the husband is a freelance construction worker and they're struggling unsure of their future together as a family. when the husband goes to work during the day the young wife strolls into the nice neighborhoods, breaks into houses and takes back to the motel one small sentimental item. the last one i could remember was a tea cup.
Music has developed so much and in so many ways that I really don't feel as if you can compare something from even decades before to something current. As gregorian chant slowly moved to polychoral works to opera and such, each brings something new while maybe still paying homages to their predecessors.
The biggest differences being that they sound absolutely nothing like Veruca Salt and that Veruca Salt didn't release anything 20 year ago. Veruca Salt had alternative-grunge-pop aesthetics while Jenny & Johnny pull more from surf and late 80's Blake Babies style indie rock. The lyrics and energy are what drive this music forward and keep them from sounding like a throwback to another era.
I've loved Jenny for so long. This song plays at my work, and I just realized this was her and Johnny, and I've hated this song for 2 1/2 years at work. I'm pretty disappointed in their collaboration. I love Rilo and solo Jenny but I hate this combination. :-/
10 years I’ve loved this song now…
This album is really good. It should be a more known record for sure. Every song is amazing
She is so awesome I don't get how she isn't the most famous rock star ever. Nobody is as good as Jenny Lewis. I don't care what anyone says.
Because this culture likes people like Taylor Swift. Don't even think about it - it's just a crime against humanity.
She's so talented. Saw her live a few years ago and she was incredible!
This deserves so much more more exposure.
I just heard this on 89.3 The Current and I kinda cranked this up. My bear ears are still ringing ..
I'm gonna play this on KXLU this Thursday.
What a brilliant beautiful human Jenny Lewis is. She just seems effortlessly cool

This is very nice. Good music. Love the beat. :)
I heard this on BBC Radio 6 (UK) this week. Sounds great!
Wow, this is a great tune. It reminds me of bands like Velocity Girl back in the 90s.

I just love this group...Jenny has grown into a WOMAN, long way from Rilo Kiley.
My summer 20120 song.
I love how she sings "da daaa daaaaahh" at 3:33.
*Dream pop.*
Почему о такой охуенной песни я узнал только в свои 32
