My setup: settle for 2 months -> fuel pump -> heated 30micron oil filter -> Triple R oil cleaner -> 200L barrel. I combine ATF, hydraulic and unused motor/transmission oil. Current batch is 15% petrol and probably around 10% kerosene. Picking up a W123 240d soon to replace my Nissan D21 diesel
Before centrifuging my oil, I run it through a 50 and 10 and then 5 micron Racor waterblock fuel filter to ensure there is no water or large particles in the oil.
Another great video. This series couldn't have come at a better time as I am currently setting everything up, I wanted to order the PA biodiesel centrifuge but ended up getting the wmo designs because that's all that was available. Even that is back ordered until mid June.
I'm glad I found your channel. I was looking on some diesel forums and saw blending info that I couldn't find a second time. It's either you or someone that blends in the same manner. I'm just now getting into this and got the 55gph centrifuge. I like your comparison between preheating the oil vs "pre-thinning". I can see the pros vs cons. I'll be trying both.
Man I wish I could be in to this when centrifuge was that cheap now the cheapest I found is $1300 w/out heater about $1600 w/heater, but still a lot worth it I think I am still doing it. To run it in my 99 7.3
Glad I found this video of yours. I've noticed that on a couple of batches that I made, The car did not run as well or in this particular batch the car is slow starting we're normally it starts right up on the 1st crank. I think one of the bashes had a little bit of water in it possibly. I am not sure what I did wrong with this batch.
Moisture makes a big difference for sure. Before getting the single pass centrifuge with heat, I couldn't run oil below 40ish F... but now, I've been able to run down to single digits without issue (on dual tanks so starting on diesel). I've upped my mix in the single tank on the 300SD to ~70% W90 / 30% diesel... so far, it does start a little harder but nothing crazy. Still starts on first attempt.. one glow cycle... but stumbles a bit and hazes a good bit until its been running for a minute or so. Going to bump timing a bit I think... we'll see.
I noticed in one of your other videos that you now use your truck to go get oil in the 250 gallon container.. When I saw this video I was wondering why you were driving a vehicle that was not diesel but then you mentioned that it is the Mercedes diesel. That's awesome. My goal is to go completely diesel. Having the vw jetta tdi has been awesome especially considering the fuel prices lately
Yup most of the fleet is diesel... not all but most. The truck is powered by a 7.3 IDI and it drinks just about anything I put in the tank without complaint. The 300SD is powered by an OM617 which is a bit more picky than the 7.3... but not bad.
Tried filters with my 01 7.3 and I've have to pull injectors 3 times to clean them bent a push rod and had to scrub my tank and change the fuel filter 3 times in 3 weeks
Gr8 vid mate. U could try heating ur oil with waste oil burner. Seen video guy doing it. Heating till around 90°C I guessing around ur 180F, he had computer fan on top sucking not blowing. He said blowing air in, did not remove the moisture. After turning the flame off, he let the fan work for couple hours. Cheers mate
Great video.:) You've got me thinking about finding a supply of waste gas/diesel.:) At the moment I'm using 4 gallons of pump gas a week to cut my wvo. That would be great to get a few barrels of free gas/diesel mix. In your experience how frequent do diesel shops drain tanks with contaminated diesel? There's several truck and heavy equipment shops near me.
I ran a a 50-50 blend in my 73 Powerstroke and it is way too smoky. I dumped out about 30 gallons into my old tanks and put 50 more gallons of diesel in my transfer tank but it's still bad smokey
@@NotSoGrandGarage it was all on me man, I didnt do anything right. Single tank, only ran through a few filters no gas or kerosene blend didnt heat it didnt have a centerfuge. It was bad, I was smoking up the entire interstate, lost power running rough, only 200 miles into a 540 mile trip I called 12 different parts stores and auto shops to unload 90 gallons of it finally found a napa that had room. Dumped it, added diesel and put my foot to the floor on the road and it cleared out n finally got power back after 30 min, drove the rest of the trip to GA and I'm gonna see if the trucks filters are clogged.
HI, I watch your vids for inspiration , and i get heaps . What I need though is a bit more insight on what engines are happy to run on black diesel . Today you called out the Merc 617 , which I know was in the 240 and 300D,s . Do you have iany insight into any Japanese diesels ? Where i am there are plenty of Mazda, Nissans , Isuzu, Toyotas etc but almost Know old mercs anymore . So, do you have some insight about these engines ? thanks les
I don't have any experience with them as they aren't very common in my neck of the woods. Basically, indirect injection systems tend to work well. Mechanical injection pumps and lift pumps tend to handle the oils better.
I know you said you didn't know why the p pump did better than the ve pump but can you clarify what the difference is? Do the injectors coak up more or something because you were running the w90 in your 4ba before you had the centrifuge right?
Do you have any experience in mixing black diesel and waste vegetable oil in the same secondary tank? Only have a filter system at the moment 🙄but looking buy a centrifuge if I can find one. I've got an old 93 12valve. Any tips?
@@christiancrowe8996 in my area, wvo isn't readily available. I've heard people have a lot of luck with wvo... but when things go wrong, it's hard to fix. Such was the case with my 300sd... previous owner ran wvo exclusively... had a failure and dint address it... parked it. Everything solidified. The injection pump was trashed... injectors needed rebuilt... all the fuel lines were plugged solid.... tank had pounds of solidified wvo in it that was fun to clean out. When wvo goes bad... it goes BAD. If done right though... it burns clean and smells good. Wmo on the other hand doesn't gel.. doesn't solidify... the only real issue you have to fight is incomplete combustion... ash build up on the injector tips.. and it smells like you're burning oil cause you are... lol. The ash can be dealt with via water injection and/or driving style. Dual tanks will help a lot too. There seems to be little grey area With the cummins... it either works great without issue or it cokes injector constantly and I haven't found the difference between the two situations. Nice thing about the cummins is you can pull the injectors and clean the tips with a brass brush in an hour or so... New crush washers and back in business. It's a toss up really. If I had wvo available in large quantities for free... I'd try it for giggles... they both have their pros and cons.
@@NotSoGrandGarage when I make the black diesel following your instructions, it's still a bit dark, what do you recommend for bleaching the black diesel final product?
@@arthurmekerdoumian3264 mine is still black. It will be without a chemical wash using an acid. That's out of my realm of knowledge but i know some do it.

I wish I did too. I only got the direct drive a year or 2 ago... was 1900 or so with the heater and cone.
Two things. It was 150 dollars for the centrifuge kit a few years ago? And what's up with pa bio being out of business? Their site is still up

I ram the 4bt on oil processed with the pressure driven unit. Still coked injectors. I'll be putting it back on oil soon though.
