It’s annoying how in this game you can’t use an ex form like in dissidia 012, and use unique attacks given given to that form. It’s also annoying how you can only use one hp attack. No wonder this game did so bad. This is pretty much a skin with no actual change in techniques or combat style. Disgrace! Still looks cool though.

Kefka disjointed Magic itself, rearranged the planet's landmasses, created a cult, rose a tower by twisting the ground up, and became a literal god. Sephiroth.....summoned a Meteor. and couldn't do it without a fancy little crystal.

Except, he kinda succeeded. His tyrannical rule lasted for more than a year, before the heroes were finally able to reunite and found both the love and the will to fight for a dying world. Sephiroth looked cool, because he wore black, had long platinum hair, and wielded an unbelievably long masamune. His appearance and cool factor (playing off of Japan's wannabe 90's goth look, turning into a seraphic angel and sporting black fathers) came at the same time Dragonball Z was exploding in the US, and the coolest characters were based on who can power up the most. FFVII came out when 3D gaming was just walking through the door. In addition, his theme, One Winged Angel, had a chorus we could hear for the first time. And that's what he was: a first time for many. For him, Sephiroth's success was entirely based on right time-right place. Kefka on the other hand, had none of this. He was a goofy sorcerer knockoff of the Joker. He had nearly zip of the cool factor going for him (based on real social interests [Japanese youth weren't exactly dressing up like psycho clown wizards in the 90's]), and still commands a fanbase that will swear to this moment he is the better villain. Only those possessing the knowledge of biblical iconography (the tower of bosses preceding the final battle with God Kefka himself) would be able to catch the references to such stories as the Divine Comedy, Dante's Inferno, and Michelangelo's Pieta. Dancing Mad didn't have the luxury of having a fully voiced chorus. Most people only know of Kefka because SE is kind enough to pull him out of the toybox from time-to-time. For Kefka, fanboys will fight tooth and nail to defend him as the more powerful villain, because, without any of what made Sephiroth a success among fans, he still managed to accomplish what he set out to do. TL;DR: They're practically the same character. But Kefka fanboys have a damn good reason to call the Mad God of Magic a better and more powerful villain. And he did it all without having to don black leather belts across his waist, legs and chest.

So Sephiroth needing a fancy crystal as you said it's not so different than Kefka needing the statues. Also, do not confuse the issue, all that you described doesn't mean he is more powerful, every time you get to fight him with the main heroes he is defeated, including when he is already a "god", he never wins a battle, technically the only reason you didn't wreck him in that moment (floating land) was because Gesthal (yes, it wasn't even Kefka) paralyzed your party, so you couldn't do anything against him, thus allowing Kefka to do everything you said. He succeeded (even tho it didn't last long as he was taken down one year later) I give him that, but that doesn't mean he is more powerful, and even so, he didn't succeed by his own deeds, he had a lot of help, and I repeat even at the end it was Gestahl the one who prevented your party from doing anything to Kefka, otherwise the heroes would had defeated him again (as always) even before he would have gotten the statues powers. Sephiroth is even out there still alive unlike Kefka, and before you mention "because it has sequels"... well too bad for Kefka, but that is a fact. With this I am not saying Sephiroth is stronger either, but it is very difficult to state a fact (especially for fanboyism) when both of them were wrecked by the main heroes everytime a fight happened.

@@SoulierKaiser Hm, I suppose I got kinda lucky then. I just started playing a week ago and I have my team, Cloud, Aerith and Sephiroth at lvl 80 & 70. I have Fusion Sword Burst weapon for Cloud, Aerith with Prisim Rod and Sephiroth with Masamune. They all have their best armour, I just need to limit break them. When I saw the list of playable characters I knew who I wanted on my team and so I solely focused on them so that I wouldn’t waste my items anybody else. Didn’t pay a single cent on the game. (Free to play ftw.) Not completely sure what you mean by DL yet.

He was defeated by Cloud at the Nibelheim Reactor, defeated by Cloud again at the Life Stream, defeated by Cloud AGAIN while Cloud was suffering from the geostigma disease, and (SPOILERS) DEFEATED BY CLOUD AGAIN when the timeline was reset and the Remake story was closing its first entry. Kefka may have never been reincarnated after his defeat, but he did ascend to godlike status and subjugated the world in his tyranny for a good year's worth before being overcome by his old nemeses (one of whom tried committing suicide after waking up from a coma and being the last survivor on a small island). Kefka's actions had visible impact that required no sequel to tell. Had there been an FFVI-2, I bet there would be some kind of reincarnation, and it would have damned their world for eternity in some major way.
