    Elsa's powers were representing her emotional turmoil. In the ice castle she was telling herself "don't feel" so it was fracturing and growing sharper and even with the storm it stopped because she broke down in grief after Hans told her Anna was dead. What I like about Elsa's transformation is that it shows she's perfectly capable of controlling her powers. She was just so crippled by anxiety/insecurity due to her parents hammering it into her that she needs to hide her powers from everyone. As soon as she decided to just embrace herself she could do insane things with her magic and when she only loses control again when the anxiety comes back.

  • @The1stGiant
    @The1stGiant 7 місяців тому +228

    The parents didn’t really do a great job of trying to help teach Elsa to learn to control her powers, but also, eventually, with enough time, hiding it away, became their idea of controlling it, and teaching her to prevent herself from using it even accidentally is controlling it, or was controlling it in their minds.

    There's a few people in the comments who said that Hans being bad didn't make sense because he cared for her in the beginning, but I think it does make sense. He had to be nice to Anna and be nice when Anna wasn't around because if he becomes royalty by marriage, the people of Arendelle (probably misspelled) have to trust him. He was nice to everyone to gain their trust, plus I assumed if things went badly and Elsa and Anna were still alive and Hans didn’t get to interfere (his plan fails), then he would still have a good reputation (Anna and Elsa fixing things before he shows his evil side). His plan still failed in the movie, but if it went smoothly then the people would have believed that Elsa killed Anna and Elsa would have been killed/locked away or whatever they would do and Hans would be trusted to lead Arendelle.
    This is how I thought of it anyways. I just think it makes a better villain than the theory "Trolls used magic on Hans because they wanted a family member to get married." Everyone including the viewers believed he was good so I thought "manipulative villain" was done well.
    Edit: Forgot a letter in a word

  • @3SailorMartin
    @3SailorMartin 7 місяців тому +5

    Elsa's powers, from the moment she almost killed Anna, were tied to her emotions (especially negative ones) so the more afraid she became of them the worse it got. Before that moment, it was obvious she had a good deal of control over her magic.
    Afterward, you're right, they didn't try to help her control them or help her deal with what happened with Anna causing her fear of her powers to grow and she tried to suppress them. But like emotions, the more you try to suppress something the worse it gets and can explode at the worst possible time leaving you vulnerable

    • @3SailorMartin
      @3SailorMartin 7 місяців тому +3

    • @luludelav903
      @luludelav903 7 місяців тому +7

      i think it's more about her mindset than the handcuffs themselves, because we know that her powers are completely connected to her emotions and stuff, and Elsa THOUGHT the gloves were blocking her powers, so they did, but just because she FELT safe when she put them on. that's why she feels out of control without them, without the only thing she thinks could help her, ignoring the fact that she has always been capable to control her powers (she needed support and to have confidence and not all the fears and insecurities that her parents put in her head, which are what truly made her unable to "control" her powers)

The Finnish word for a fridge is "ice cabinet" which comes from literally a cabinet with ice inside that you could then store milk and other food items in. Hans makes sense to me. Because if he knows he can be king by proxy by marrying Anna and getting rid of Elsa, why not start start getting in the good graces of the people early? If he's gotta ensure the chancellors trust him, he has to play the part. If he can get Elsa to get rid of the winter and then banish her for treason, he's gotta do it. People don't take kindly to a foreigner killing their monarch, so Hans needed to buy time at the very least. That's why he doesn't kill Elsa until he's convinced it's the best option. So one way to ensure that couple could have children to take care of them at elder age (people didn't live that long as these days either). Plus as a way to ensure that their family/familyname would have heir/s at all, was to get many children.
    And back when I went to school, I heard that one of my teachers had 10 sisters. 😄

    Rewatching it this time made me think about how she doesn't seem able to control her ice powers and then immediately after, builds an ice castle with intricate designs.

    I think her parents should've been taking her to that mountain when she young so she could just let it go and get comfortable with her powers and have a lot of practice. If they did that, she would've been comfortable with her powers by now and it would've even been safe for the whole kingdom to know about her powers.

    You should definitely watch Tangled if you haven’t already. Frozen, Moana, and Tangled are like the golden trio! Frozen and Tangled are often debated between which is better and people believe the two movies are connected.

    "Why do they need that much ice" two answers to that: one is food preservation. No refrigeration. they used ice back in the day. (rememebr that an old fridge was called 'icebox') ... past that, because they're the ones who sell the ice.

    Something I got from this movie is that Olaf was created out of love, joy and innocence by Elsa when she was a kid but as an adult Marshmallow is created by anxiety and paranoia thus appearing monstrous in comparison to Olaf who is more cartoony

    Before you react to Frozen 2 you should do a mashup reaction with the TWO short films that happen in the timeline between movie 1 and 2, First short is 'Frozen fever" and 2nd "Olafs frozen adventure." combined they last like 26 mins .. the 1st short is about the 1st bday they spend together after the separation and the other short is about their 1st Xmas etc. They are cute and you can enjoy Frozen2 better if you know more content from in between the two movies timeline. Hope you do. Thanks

    so there's this theory that the trolls is bad and hans is actually a good guy. but when elsa's been caught, hans who is on his way back to arendelle met the trolls. they then messed up his minds and make him the bad guy (because they want kristoff to be with anna, and hans is "on their way"). and i stand with this theory.
