I like how you actually introduce youreself by showing youre face in the start of the video, it makes you look more proffesional, it also makes youre viewers trust that youre work is good for tank.
The only suggestion I would make is to consider adding some 'bare metal' weathering on high traffic areas such as the hatches. This is a technique that is used a lot by aircraft modellers. They put the relevant metal color (I would suggest a gun metal/aluminum mix) under the main color and they either us maskol or a cotton bud to rub off the over colour to achieve a realistic effect. Not sure if that is of use to you, but I think you do a fantastic job with a paint brush and provide inspiration for those who can't afford an air brush. Keep up the great work with the videos and the modeling.
If you're looking for a new model to do, I would strongly recommend the new tool 1:72 scale airfix hawker typhoon, fantastic build, loads of detail, options for rockets, open gun cases on the wings, open cockpit and plenty of interior detail
I should have said that I haven't sealed the model with varnish - I didn't want any discolouration or for it to disturb the washes, though I know it will make them vulnerable to being rubbed off. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and seeing me mess up a bit! :D
Oh and actually the weathering isnt unrealistic at all if this was a sherman firefly used in Afrika it would represent the sand and dusty effect so it isnt unrealistic in that aspect
Yeah I agree, this tank was used in Normandy though so I got the wrong colour dirt haha! Oh well :) I'm glad you think it still looks good, thank you for your comment :D
I really appreciated this video. I getting ready to build Tasca's Firefly and will follow you lead on most of the weathering techniques you applied. In spite of the issues you had, I think your Sherman turned out great, thanks for sharing!! Joe
I think the tank turned out great. The fact that you were able to overcome the things you didn't like about it speaks volumes. A perfect example of being able to turn out a quality finished model without expensive tools or products. Well done! p.s. Your abilities to paint without an airbrush have inspired my son... he hates airbrushing!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it, and it's great to hear that it's inspired your son - my aim with this channel is to inspire people as well as teaching people a few tips :)
Fantastic job! Well I am into miniature modeling and model railroads for many years (rarely military though)and I have seen many (!) a professional model with bad weathering. I usually find the airbrushing of dust build up too unconvincing, rust streaks too filhy and most of all: dry brushing with lighter colors makes almost everything look like rocks or icy. I find your painting and weathering very convincing. It all blends together extremely well. No worries: from what I have read and seen: even seasoned pros make huge mistakes (I am not one of these) and need to correct these. Your work is always top notch! Thanks so much for sharing!
Some games workshop texture paint, Agrellan badland is amazing dabbed on the tracks and inside the track assembly! Looks so real after drying and drybrushing with some brown on top!
possibly not as recent documentary showed a Canadian standard Sherman hiding behind a wall got him from close range ; though a British Firefly certainly got the other 2 Tigers with him
I bought canopy glue for clear parts. It dries clear and looks very nice with canopys, windows, and lights. it's only about 3 bucks and sticks well. I recommend this for you cause PVA glue also leaves these tiny spots of foggy white not like cement but it still is bothering if you look real carefully.
The base green was already weathered before you started. That looked really cool. How did you achieve that effect with the uneven greens? It seemed like the best work was done before you started the video. All you really needed was a little chipping and to apply some mud effect to the tracks.
nice dry brushing on the tracks...i wish more modellers would follow your technique...good job bud so far...as an old modeller i am surprised but slightly gladdened to see you old school skills done so well.....i think i will be watching a great deal of your skills as a refresher to my rejuvenation back into modelling from to long ago lol...good job bud, really good videos to....
Your too hard on yourself, but when you take a hobby very seriously you try your very best. Luckily model tanks are not my main hobby. I admire your work tremendously. I would be thrilled if I was half as good as you. It takes dedication and passion for you to excel at a hobby you love. Mine is bonsai. Love your videos.
This really was a great built ! I really liked all three episodes. Could you make the airfix d day set ? I started it, but never had the courage to finish it.
I really think you did a good job on the weathering. I especially like the restraint you used in adding chips to the model. Too many models are so over chipped they look like derelicts and not functioning tanks. I like the use of the watercolors and artist acrylics for the weathering. It has the look of a used vehicle with light dust. It is a really good job and I look forward to your next project.
I agree, on my Pzkpfw IV I added chipping to pretty much every edge - I thought it looked good at the time because I saw other people doing it but now I'm not sure haha! Thanks for your great comment, I appreciate it, and I'm glad you like the model :)
Hey Owen, just a tip with dusting. Try chalk pastels, they can be scrapped with a sharpe knife and it comes out super fine. Then just apply with a large brush.
That's a good tip, thank you! :D I was considering doing that but decided against it as I'd have had to seal the model with varnish and I always find that makes the chalk go funny... I should have done it though :/
No stress mate, it's all a learning curve. I have been modelling for nearly 10 years and I'm still learning. Keep up the great work, I thoroughly enjoy your vids!
Great to see how far this channel has come! You should really do the Revell 1/72 Me 262, I think it will work out well with your brush only techniques!
This looks fantastic Owen, well done. You've taken your time with this and yes the weathering must have been a pain but I think it honestly looks amazing. Keep up the good work on your models! 😃
Hey, Owen. I think the weathering turned out magnificently. Impressive work....snd all dome brush. As Vader said, "Most Impressive. " Doing the tank crew and infantry next? Keep having fun. Bill
Hahaha thanks Bill, loving the Vader quote!! :D I think I'll leave the crew and infantry - I don't think I know enough about/good enough at figure painting to make a video on it
Mitchell Hogg Probably - if you're brush painting then it probably won't have much effect anyway. Painting and leaving the underside black will help though - I've left it black even on this scale
For the splatterd mud, have you tried using a toothbrush for it? Much stiffer bristles and better quality on them aswell, but you get more of a subtle result with an ordinary brush.
Wonderful work as always, now I have the inspiration and motivation to buid my models, Thanks!!!, can´t wait to watch the upcoming videos, Greetings from Mexico. ;)
Awesome as usual Owen.! Looks amazing, the weathering came out perfect in my opinion. I see people talking about painting the figures, you should give it a shot. I paint 15mm and 28mm Napoleonic units which can be tricky at the start, but gradually it gets easier. But anyway loving the videos and can't wait for more planes!.
Wow yeah I can imagine they're pretty tricky to paint that small! I'll give the figures a go when I have a bit more time, but I'll work on some planes for now :) Thank you for your comment! :D
I was at a mall and saw a model kit brand I had never heard of Atlantis-Models. They seem to specialize in cheap models. The model was of the IS-2/JS-2 Heavy tank. The plastic is basic, has an unnatural sheen to it. Tracks are almost impossible to put them together, mine ended up breaking if you try to connect two end pieces. So I started thinking. What could I do? I have an idea of doing a rusted and long abandoned tank left in the snow. I figure this way would allow me to have the tracks broken look more fitting and also be able to get over the cheap looking plastic. So I have been looking at good ways to "age" the tank. I thought I could give it a dark green colored paint color to show the age of the tank, then add a rust coloring around the vehicle, then finish it off with added a snowed on effect to the tank. I was also thinking of bending the barrel of the tank a bit to make it look a bit more decrepit. Have you had any experience doing any type of aging like that?
I know! :D When I bought the kits a good few years ago I had a plan to do another tank battle animation... but I don't have time for things like that any more haha!
I just subscribed, after watching this 3 video series, what you do looks good. However I won't be able to watch as often unfortunately as where I usually live I don't have any internet.
Just a quick tip: sag your tracks a bit more. You can get away with it in 1/72 but not in 1/35. Overall not bad at all for your first 1/35 model. Overweathering as some call it can be problematic. The trick is to weather a model in stages i.e. take breaks between each stage so you can step back and evaluate before going bonkers, weather the whole lot in under an hour then start counting casualties.
Ah the Sherman Firefly's tracks didn't have any sag, but on my Panzer IV I could have added a bit, yes :) and it's definitely a good tip to take breaks, like I did this over the course of a week with a day in between things to evaluate them - admittedly I should have taken more breaks haha! :D
You're right about taught tracks. .Here's the catch though: Sherman's tracks are taught but it's beneficial to give the illusion of 'weight' i.e. some form of gravity illusion. Mind you, I'm nitpicking really. Nice build, definately better than the Shermans that I've built in the past.
It actually looks very good Owe! :) I really like that effect on the final model on the front :) Looking forward for the next one ;) And just to say : acrylics are the best :p
In my opinion Brands like tamiya and hobby boss make great tanks I would take a tank from one of those Brands its best to start with 1:72 thats the easiest and one of the most fun scales
Your being too hard on yourself Owen. It looks good! Weathering in real life does not always follow modelling rules and reference photos cannot always give a true account of the real thing. You done good 👍
Thank you, I'm glad you like it! :) and yeah I should have paid more attention to where the Sherman's were in the reference photos - some of the ones I looked at where in Africa in the sand I think
The way I dry brushed it (I assume you are referring to that?), even with a gloss coat it wouldn't have made a difference as the paint is too dry to run :)
+Quick Kits Oh, sorry for not specifying, my bad: I meant at the stage when you made the dust effect at the front (and everywhere else) of the tank. Capillary action does never work on a matt surface! Btw you should try pure pigments mixed with thinner to make dust effects. When the thinner has evaporated you brush it of with ease where you don't want it. Then you can leave it as it is, or spray some varnish over it.
it looks great but many of the Sherman tanks had rubber shoes mounted on the front of the tracks certainly the one in the Imperal War Museum maybe just some models as there certainly was a great variety of versions
Looking at the pictures of a Sherman in the Bovingdon Tank Museum the tracks are similar to your model and look metal in appearance . It's rare you can ruin a tank with weathering because most finishes can be removed . observing them closely WW2 tanks are very rough ( particularly the T34 ) so a bit of texture or rough paintwork ; wouldn't be amiss . though it is very frustrating when something goes amiss near the end !
I think what happened to you with the upper hull is why I personally prefer oil based weathering techniques as if you are unhappy you can take a straight off.
I've thought about it - I feel I need to teach myself how to paint figures first before I feel confident teaching others, which is why I never put them in. If I did I think it would make the model look more unrealistic as I haven't practised figures much :) Anyway, glad you like the result! :D
perfect job love you videos ! :D and thanks for 25 tips for modellers :) it was wery helpfully :D your chanell is for me N.1 :) good luck for future :) thanks from czech republic
Hello Owen, I think your models are excellent, but I was wondering if there was a reason for not using an airbrush? Good luck building in future, Duncan.
Hi Duncan, there are lots of reasons I don't use an airbrush so I won't cover them all, the main reason is that I want this channel to be inspirational and show people what they can do without much equipment/money spent. I felt there was a gap in the UA-cam modelling community as most people use airbrushes :) Thank you! :)
Great video! I liked what you did with the tracks :) My Tamiya 1/35 Cheiftain Mk.3 should be coming tommorow, do you have any tips? All i have is Tamiya paints (acrylic [almost all colors]) and brushes, and regular tools :)
Thank you, I'm glad you like the tracks I was quite pleased with them :) I've not built the Cheiftain but some general tips would be don't do dark washes (for example I think this Sherman would look quite unrealistic with a dark wash) and make use of the good colour reference photos that are available. I think subtle discolouration in the paintwork will make it look realistic, so maybe work on that?
Well i'm not that good at painting but i can still do it, i'm not so sure on how to make washes but i think im gonna save that for another build that's not too expensive :D I will definently be doing some different colors around the whole thing, but it is a desert theme so i gotta be careful :)
TeamLockybros You could use water colour paint or use my chalk wash technique - these can be removed with water if you don't like them. Or yeah, just save them for another build :)
Well i don't have any watercolor but next time i go to HobbyCraft i will pick some up, i dont wanna ruin my expensive kit with that :) I just get a little/less expensive kit and try them out on that :) Thanks anyway :P
The paint alone for this model must be at least £100. If you include kit this tank would cost a fortune to build, I understand that you build a paint collect over time if the leftovers are saved but as a beginner it's beyond my reach. Are the photo etched part included in the Tamiya kit?
Yeah I agree, it always makes things look different and seems as I'm not going to be handling the model much anyway I thought I'd leave it. I'm glad you like it! :)
hi, i have bought some paints but a lot of the paints i use are from starter sets, i thought i was the only one who did this. Did you used to do this from what i can see in the video!? thanks
Another problem with watercolours, especially cheap ones, is that many are not lightfast. Some commercial art galleries do not sell watercolour paintings because of this. Sennelier have lightfast colours in their range but they are expensive.
Thanks Ben! I'd recommend you get some flock and clump foliage packs to make the grassy areas more real, and gloss varnish the water a lot. Also make sure you have quite a few very fine brushes for painting the figures :) Hope that helps
Another great model! I was just wondering, this particular model and some other models that you have done in the past come with some crew members but you never seem to add them. Is that because you don't like painting the figures?
Yeah I don't think I can paint figures well enough - if I added them I think it would make the model look more unrealistic. However I do plan on trying in the future, I'll just have to teach myself first before I can feel confident to teach others :) Anyway, glad you like the Sherman! :D
As I haven't tried lots of different manufacturers I can't really answer your question sorry, but I know Humbrol and Revell acrylic and enamel paints are good as they are designed for brush painting :)
The gunpla I ordered arrived 2 hours ago, and the sprues are soaking in warm soapy water... So yes there'll be a gunpla video up some time next year! :D Do you have any painting tips? Should I paint anything before assembly?
Quick Kits nice! What kit did you get? I usually assemble the whole thing to better plan out my painting scheme. Then I take it apart and paint individual pieces or constituent pieces. Depending on what I have in mind. 👍
Here's one of my builds. The 1/144 HG Barbatos Lupus. Just changed a bit of the color scheme and added some light weathering, although I think I overdid it on the bat. I don't really put rust effects on these things, since mobile suits probably don't rust. imgur.com/gallery/PGfSM
Jonathan Gapay It's an EXIA kit. I've assembled it and now taken it apart to paint - I think I'm just going to paint the skeleton and make it a darker grey, then apply washes and some chipping to the other parts. Thanks for the link to the photos, very inspirational. Yours look amazing!
Quick Kits Cool! What grade is it? Careful when painting the joints, and parts were there's a tight fit between parts. They tend to scrape off the paint.
+QuickKits I Have A Question I'm In 7th Grade And Just Started Working On A Itelari M4A1 Sherman Tank What Types Of Colors Would You Recomend Also Do A Video On Italeri They make Excellent Models So I Would Recommend You
I've built an Italeri Spitfire in the past and it was good, I'll have to try another one some day. I recommend Humbrol or Revell enamels or acrylics because they are designed for brush painting, stay away from Tamiya acrylics as they are designed for airbrushes and apparently don't go on well with a brush.
Is umber/sepia better or black wash for aircraft? And will my white primer work for models? Cause it's the only colour I have, I could buy more. And I don't know if the primer is intended for plastic or models
Tommy Lakasi If I were you I'd go down to an art shop and buy a set of chalk pastels (make sure a black, brown and white is included) and then you can make washes of whatever shade you like (see my video on chalk washes). If you want to buy a vallejo wash I'd say perhaps go with the dark brown?
Great video, looks great. I do it in a different way as an other youtuber showed me, it is really useful and it is ny andy's hobby headquarter and its called how to do tracks i believe. So if xou want to you can look at it and take so e tips he gave if you want to, again looks great
Yeah I watch Andy's videos, they're really good aren't they? The only thing is he buys pigments and things to use whereas I like to spend as little as possible :) I'm glad you think it looks good anyway! :)
You can't paint a whole model with watercolour, it just won't stick. You need enamel or acrylic modelling paint - save the watercolour for washes like I did :) Hope that helps! :)
+TheWaggishAmerican the track represented in this kit is the rubber one and of all of the well lets say 20-30 sherman i have seen only one or two had the metal tracks
The ones on this Sherman are the steel type which can be identified by the thinner chevrons, however some did have the rubber block ones like the T48's. The rubber ones have large chevrons on like this: www.secoaugusta.com/Tracks/T48-CHEVRON-TRACK.jpg
+Quick Kits damn your absolutely right, sorry for me thinking you knew nothing :p . the funny thing is i have never seen those kind of tracks before i think, only the steel bar type. thanks for the info
Wow, no airbrush, "just" brushes. Looks excellent!
I'm glad you think that, thank you!! :D
i started modelling a year ago now and i just learnt how to weather after this video
it will make my models so much better
Thanks, I hadn't got any maskol when I made this video, but on the Kate I've used it and I really like the effect :)
If you're looking for a new model to do, I would strongly recommend the new tool 1:72 scale airfix hawker typhoon, fantastic build, loads of detail, options for rockets, open gun cases on the wings, open cockpit and plenty of interior detail

+Quick Kits Nice video, big number of details and of course I like Shermans ;-) But one thing... Isn't it weathering instand of weathing?
Hahaha oh yeah! Thanks for pointing that out, I've corrected it ;) Anyway, I'm glad you like the model :D
Thank you I'll add it to my list of suggestions :)
tamiya and italeri which is better
Quick Kits are you using enamel paints?
Looks great! The trick with the sharpened sprue on the periscopes was brilliant!
Yeah it's a useful one, I always use it to neaten up canopies on planes :)
Eventhough you over drybrushed the front you fixed it very Well and you made this model just look outstanding this is just amazing great job Owen!
Oh well :) I'm glad you think it still looks good, thank you for your comment :D
impressive and unbelievable you got those results without an airbrush, great build!
Ahhh I think normal brushes still have some good in them ;) Thank you that's great to hear! :D
I really appreciated this video. I getting ready to build Tasca's Firefly and will follow you lead on most of the weathering techniques you applied. In spite of the issues you had, I think your Sherman turned out great, thanks for sharing!!

Ah man! This is excellent for a hand brushing! I still do hand brushing too alongside with some bottle sprayed paint for the bigger surfaces
Nice save Owen. The tank looks good! I enjoy watching your videos. Your builds are un-complicated, yet managed to create a piece of art everytime.
Ah thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy them and like the results!! :)

Thanks Joe, I'm glad you like it!! :D
Some games workshop texture paint, Agrellan badland is amazing dabbed on the tracks and inside the track assembly! Looks so real after drying and drybrushing with some brown on top!
How can you dislike this video he spends hours making and editing these. If you don't like it don't watch.
Michael Wittman put a dislike because he was killed by the Sherman Firefly.
Thank you, I'm glad you appreciate that :D
I'm lucky I usually have a 99% like ratio so I'm cool with it :)
possibly not as recent documentary showed a Canadian standard Sherman hiding behind a wall got him from close range ; though a British Firefly certainly got the other 2 Tigers with him

Looks greet now the detail is incredible nice job Owen
Thank you! :D
Amazing weathering the best I've ever seen
Great video and very informative. My weathering effects aren't very good and your vid has helped enormously to help me get it right!
Looks great, Owen! I'm pretty new to armor modeling and this is exactly how I want to weather my tanks.
Awesome, I hope you enjoy armour modelling and they turn out great for you! :)
I think it turned out well. Ad ark brown pin wash along all the edges and recesses would make that the look perfect.
I really think you did a good job on the weathering. I especially like the restraint you used in adding chips to the model. congratulations on 10,000 subs!
Thank you! :)
Great work! This is a very good piece of art. All your tips are very helpful. Thanks!
Great to see how far this channel has come! You should really do the Revell 1/72 Me 262, I think it will work out well with your brush only techniques!

Your best work to date! Love the music. Thanks
great work, dude.
the model looks really good.
Beautiful work!
I need more Lola its so much fun to watch
Incredible piece Owen :) ...it turned out great and I thank you for inspiration on weathering my Tamiya Panzer IV ausf.D
Thank you, that's great to hear! Best of luck weathering your Panzer IV :)
Looks really good to me, great job.
Thank you very much!
you should build more tanks! you're weathering techniques are extremely impressive :O
Thank you! :D I think I'd better do some planes now though to keep those people happy but I am enjoying the tanks a lot! :)
+Quick Kits do you reckon 1:72nd Is too small for the white pre shading? :/
Mitchell Hogg Probably - if you're brush painting then it probably won't have much effect anyway. Painting and leaving the underside black will help though - I've left it black even on this scale
+Quick Kits ok. thanks!
Looks great mate! Happy new year from NZ 😀

Nice lighting& camera quality. good job, pitty with the last part
Thank you!
It actually looks very good Owe! :) I really like that effect on the final model on the front :)
Looking forward for the next one ;)
And just to say : acrylics are the best :p
Haha thank you! I'm glad you like what I've done with it :)
Great work
Awesome weathering! Sucks about the failed dry brushing. Can't wait for the next vid :D
I've never tried a tank before, which kit would you recommend?
In my opinion Brands like tamiya and hobby boss make great tanks I would take a tank from one of those Brands its best to start with 1:72 thats the easiest and one of the most fun scales
+Mr.snipeskater Thanks for the suggestion :D
Thank you! I agree with Mr.snipeskater :)
Very inspiring, great video!
Thank you! :)
@@quickkits There were no Sherman Fireflys in North Africa, but there were standard Shermans with the 75mm gun.
If you want paint to go into corners it's a must to have a smooth (gloss) layer to put it on!
Sander Gjertsen Østvold Ah right okay :) and thanks for the tip I might try that some time if I can get some pigments :)
it looks great but many of the Sherman tanks had rubber shoes mounted on the front of the tracks certainly the one in the Imperal War Museum maybe just some models as there certainly was a great variety of versions
Wow. I don't think I've ever found one of these in 1:35 anywhere. Anyway could you make an academy M3A1 Stuart
It looks great. I like it! Give us some more :D
Good work!👍🏼
I think what happened to you with the upper hull is why I personally prefer oil based weathering techniques as if you are unhappy you can take a straight off.
I agree, oils or chalks. I don't know what I was thinking using acrylics haha! :D
Turned out nice in the end! Have you ever thought of doing one of these kits up with the figurines?
I've thought about it - I feel I need to teach myself how to paint figures first before I feel confident teaching others, which is why I never put them in. If I did I think it would make the model look more unrealistic as I haven't practised figures much :) Anyway, glad you like the result! :D
Thx I learned so many techniques you got my sub
You're welcome, thank you!
perfect job love you videos ! :D and thanks for 25 tips for modellers :) it was wery helpfully :D your chanell is for me N.1 :) good luck for future :) thanks from czech republic
Thank you for your comment, it's great to hear that my channel and videos are so helpful to you! I'm also glad you liked the Sherman :D
Gratz on 10k :)
Great job!
Thanks
Nice model, its good that You decide to no varnish the model. Often modelers destroy all the hard work with flat coating & ect.
Yeah I agree, it always makes things look different and seems as I'm not going to be handling the model much anyway I thought I'd leave it. I'm glad you like it! :)
can u drop a link of where u got the tank thanks
hi, i have bought some paints but a lot of the paints i use are from starter sets, i thought i was the only one who did this. Did you used to do this from what i can see in the video!? thanks
Another problem with watercolours, especially cheap ones, is that many are not lightfast. Some commercial art galleries do not sell watercolour paintings because of this. Sennelier have lightfast colours in their range but they are expensive.
Owen this is amazing I am building my d-Day operation overdrive have you got any tips all would be very appreciated.
Thanks Ben! I'd recommend you get some flock and clump foliage packs to make the grassy areas more real, and gloss varnish the water a lot. Also make sure you have quite a few very fine brushes for painting the figures :) Hope that helps
+Quick Kits thx this will Help a lot thank you so much.
very nice
Thanks!
So, Poly Cement cab glue the rubber tracks?
I think on most of them you can but not Revell and Airfix kits... but I'm not sure
I'm super late but if you read the instructions it should say how to bond the tracks together. :)
are you going to do the new airfix 1:72 scale spitfire mk va when it comes out
I'm unsure, I'm holding out for the 1:72 scale Boulton Paul Defiant :D
ok
Would you recommend that what're colour set and if so, what is it
As I haven't tried lots of different manufacturers I can't really answer your question sorry, but I know Humbrol and Revell acrylic and enamel paints are good as they are designed for brush painting :)
Hey could you please build a dam buster
This is awesome! I'm a hand painter myself, but I work on gunpla. You think I could apply your techniques on gunpla?
Awesome
Wots the song?
Hello today I’m going to be- ChOcOlAtE.
+Quick Kits thanks for info
I think you should just buy tamiya kits, they are the best brands when it comes to model kits
do you have any high res photos of your work?
I do have high res photos but they aren't uploaded anywhere
Is umber/sepia better or black wash for aircraft? And will my white primer work for models? Cause it's the only colour I have, I could buy more. And I don't know if the primer is intended for plastic or models
White primer should be fine so long as it's thin. Wash colour is down to personal preference - for me, maybe a dark grey with a bit of brown?
vallejo dark grey wash or vallejo dark brown wash? which one if i could only get one
Tommy Lakasi If I were you I'd go down to an art shop and buy a set of chalk pastels (make sure a black, brown and white is included) and then you can make washes of whatever shade you like (see my video on chalk washes). If you want to buy a vallejo wash I'd say perhaps go with the dark brown?
www.hobbylobby.com/Art-Supplies/Drawing-Illustration/Pastels-Chalk/The-Fine-Touch-48-Count-Soft-Chalk-Pastel-Set/p/42070 like this?
Tommy Lakasi Yes :)
Quick Kits oh you watch andy too, i like his videos but you can make them as you want
What thinner/enamel ratio do you use?
1 part thinner to 7 parts paint, or less (so sometimes 1 part thinner to 4 parts paint)
i have a water colour set, and i just got my first model tank, should i use my water colours?
eh, mabye for washes and the odd bit here now there but enamel or acrylic are ideal for main coats :/
+Mitchell Hogg *n not "now" lol
You can't paint a whole model with watercolour, it just won't stick. You need enamel or acrylic modelling paint - save the watercolour for washes like I did :) Hope that helps! :)
if i am just starting, should i use the water colour or save it for when i am experienced
Tommy Lakasi I'd save it for a bit later :)
Awsome
do you want to sell this one? it looks great!
I'm definitely not selling this one, I love it way too much :D This will probably be the only one coming with me to uni
Well it's certainly a good choice! I have the M41 Bulldog by Tamiya that's currently my favorite model I've made, they make great kits!
Can I have that model
i really like the metally look of the tracks but in real life those were rubber parts, not really metal. still nicely done tho
No, the Sherman/Firefly had metal tracks. Some earlier tanks didn't, such as the M3 Lee/Grant, which had the rubber tracks.
Lennart Hoek haha it's cool, I didn't know anything until I researched it after your comment - so you have taught me something :D
