I just got a 9th gen civic si and I'm also going down a project build journey lol and decided to post a few videos myself "although my filming and content is not great" but you guys are actually inspiring.     Please keep the updates coming man, you're the only one I can see supplying us with the info on these skunk2 cams 🙏
    I am considering them for my 9th gen some day, but there is literally no information on these cams or the 4piston ones that is reliable, so I am pretty hesitant...

      @@robertgardner4508 when I was in the market for some cams, I was also looking for information on these, and I literally could not find anything.
      but I got these since they are the cheaper cams to buy for this car. & when you get the cams, there’s no information on the valve clearance. I emailed the company and they said you have to valve lash them at OEM spec.

    Nice build man. Mine is similar, I have DC 2.2 cams though. Made 246 on the dyno.

      I plan on adding an upgraded fuel pump & smaller crank pulley soon too.
      I’m hoping for over 240, but I plan on making 250+

    Have your air filter directly over your header , sucking in all of that hot air so how can they call it Cold air induction there’s nothing better than the stock system pulls the air from the front of the car and pushes it right into the engine, if anything maybe an upgraded factory air filter like k&N would be nice

      @@jojojeep1 I had a k&n in my factory system, but if you did go with an rbc you would know the factory air box will no longer reach the old throttle body position. I’m well aware on how an intake system works, I did not want to spend near $500 on a cold air intake that reaches a better air flow angle but for $150 I’m not complaining on losing under 5hp. I plan on replacing the hot ram intake by next winter.

    Got my skunk drop in cams on Black Friday for 40% off ;) really wakes the car up, along with the ultra street manifold at top end. I also got a p0341 for stretched chain, was a pain lol but got it fixed up.
    In the 230’s for whp and 180’s for torque on e50ish, but I have the same flex fuel kit lol (the day of the tune I only reached e55ish)

      Highly recommend finding an acuity cai, those short rams heat soak insanely fast, and are possibly losing you power compared to a stock intake.

      @@LuisVega-oj9yg lol i saw this reply quick, but skunk2 does a Black Friday sale on their site, but they’re super limited to first come first serve.
      I was on their site at 5am ready to add to cart lol, and managed to get a 40% coupon, but they also had 50%, 35%, and so on.
      Got lucky, and hella people were salty they were too slow💀

      @@longbrake0060 they are hard to find & expensive and the place I got my car from had already installed the cheaper ex/lx grill due to that reason.

    I would reccomend port matching the im runners to the head. It made a night and day difference on my k24z3. Stock ports it made 225whp on 91, after port and retune I have no idea on power (street tuned) but it's def more than 225 lol.
    I wont be surprised if you make 240+ with e85. On your setup.

      @@chrisb15679 I’ll probably do it down the line, almost everybody recommends it so it must be worth doing it.
      I do plan on adding 2 more mods soon too & I expect to be at 250 minimum.
      (Dw Fuel pump) & (k20 ud pulley)

    How’s the MPG with Skunk2 Cams? I dropped some 06-08 TSX cams into my K24Z3 and noticed I lost around 10mpg cause the exhaust rides on the big lob. Good power increase but not good for daily

      @@georgep.692 yea I run e85 on my setup and I get roughly 15mpg with about 215miles, on 93pump I get around the same mpg but it goes up to about 300miles till empty

      @@exceedzation5465 not bad at all, I thought it was going to be worse but it just rattles a little bit more, I added sound deadening and it honestly eliminated all noise it added.

    does that tb kit give idle surging issues like zdx one?

      @@bryanzamora4559 no it does not, it’s a plug & play kit, you do not have to change out the electronic motor on it. It is a ridge line TB but sold by Sirimoto.

      @@tommythao3799 theoretically no, the cam is kinda loud in non-vtec that once it crosses over to vtec u can barely hear the difference but it is there.
      All the cam does though is adds more top end hp and increases rpm’s.
      Car idles a lot louder then before too, not obnoxiously loud but it does sound nice.

      @@tommythao3799 no it shouldn’t at all, a lot of car manufactures run vtec but call them different names, cams enhance vtec, there is a cam called “vtec killer” in B series engines were I believe keeps the car fully in vtec. It’s just a component that increases RPM giving it more top end power when needed, my gears almost feel a tad bit longer because the gauge keeps climbing.

    why didn't you just do a headswap? you'd make these numbers without larger injectors, throttle body etc.. I'm like less than 3k into mine. should be done mid September. solid setup otherwise. :)

      i appreciate it brother.
      I heard you would have to weld and buy the 4port headers & make the headers fit in the engine bay, it would have costed me more time & money.
      Plus I was tryna keep it as budget at possible so others can run similar setups and finally make some power n/a out of these engines.

      @@IXgenFG4yes. Very true. It would’ve probably costed you about the same though and you’d get vtec on the exhaust side. I’ll be posting a video explaining how everything works. I’ve gathered a lot of research and everything to get it to work. It seems like lots of people gate keep it. I think I’ll be the first one in Arizona to have this done.

    Tbh would be cheaper to boost it. That’s what I’m going to do. But if you like all motor to each their own

      @@Candybuiltsi yes you are right, I asked my buddy’s the same thing of either boost or fbo and after getting feedback I decided to go fbo.
      I knew the price would end up being the same. But I really wanted to see what these engines can do with fbo since nobody does all these mods because they call an exhaust/rbc/cai “fbo” on these.
      And I also thought once the car is fbo and enjoy it for a while I plan on boosting in the future and with the mods already installed I will have no problem being in the 450-500whp range low boost.
      & in the end the clutch will still have to get replaced to compensate for the boost being added. So now I won’t have to do that anymore. I will know once I add boost that the motor will run at its fullest potential with and without boost.
      So going fbo or fi will run you the same price on these k24z7’s yes,
      I found it cheaper/easier going fbo because you are buying the parts separately and not dropping $4.8k all at ounce.
      I’m still deciding on a kraftwerks sc or Dc5Creations turbo kit. One will lose me my rbc and the other my plm downpipe.

      @@IXgenFG4 go turbo man. Everyone hates the z7 heads but they spool a turbo instantly due to the design. To me it’s a better k20c1 lol. Higher displacement, better flowing head, no direct injection garbage.

      @@Candybuiltsi I hear with 10th gens you do have to drop a lot to make power. I’m leaning more towards turbo for the power, but the simplicity of installing the kw sc seems a lot easier tbh. But since dc5creations has the cheapest kit out there I might end up getting that.

      Worst place- it’s the only way it can be routed due to the MAF connector & the piping. Honestly a Hot ram Intake.
      First place- I wanted a budget intake, most cold air intakes are like $300-500, my short ram was only $150.

      @@IXgenFG4 yes please do it you the only guy doing this camshaft review and we wanna see the most this motor can do, try to do that and put the intake forward so it can gain all the air and then we can see the legit numbers and maybe can you bring the car on a dyno ? 250 hp is possible you just gotta have everything facing the right way

      @@bvvbvv6010 lol quite literally, I wish these things with a downpipe and tune I’m pushing 400hp already. In talking wheel HP it goes from 179->240+ so it’s more like a 61+whp increase. Since its 205hp it went up to about 260hp/240whp instead of 205hp/179whp.
