By adjusting with the cell phone you can get the lighting right. It's difficult looking at the camera screen and getting a good idea of the exposure. And I use my pc to work with the videos. Couple of nice options when you finish and download your video clip.
Good points! But I would also recommend people do allot of testing with the manual modes. Especially before taking a big trip! Get familiar with low light/indoor settings! I found the camera’s Auto modes likes to set the the exposure way too high and you’ll end up with a ton of noise!

If I wanted to move my video files from the camera's SD card off to a portable USB external hard drive to archive them, but later want to re-edit again with the Insta360 iphone app some of that archived content again (for example, maybe for a flashback scene), is it possible to move the files back to the SD card so the video can be downloaded to the iphone app again to edit and export?
Josh Archer thanks for the comment. Yes you can do this. You can use iTunes, which I haven’t used, or you can drag the file onto the micro sd card but you must maintain the file structure. So for PC format the card and then create a folder called DCIM and in that folder create a folder called Camera01 and put your files in here. You must remember to put both files in there from the two lenses, obvious I know but easily overlooked.

Shawn Luft thanks for the comment. Even though the one x is great at capturing everything, the disadvantage is that it is all wide angle so to follow something in a busy wide shot it may get confused and as you say you’d have to zoom in - the problem then is you lose resolution. The one r tracking is a lot more intelligent so you could try that - you can use the one r app with the one x.

Another great video buddy :) Thanks for your replies on one of your other uploads :) As I mentioned, I'm a new Insta owner and am still at the baby step stage! I have made one video so far (I've filmed more but have one actual finished video) and I'm struggling a bit with wind noise. Thanks for the great tips! 👍🌹 How do I hold the camera to get these funny photos with long legs and big feet? And how to get short legs and big heads on the Tiny Planets?
Luftpanorama thanks for the comment. The closer you get to the camera and lens the bigger you will become so for big feet put the camera on a small tripod near your feet and for a big head put the camera on a selfie stick near your head. Look on the app if you can because if you put your hands or feet too close to the lens they will distort along the stitch line. Hope this helps
Found your video and was hoping to find my issue on your page. I always see the ring/edges of the camera on the video and it's ruining it. Its on one side darker than on the other. Why does it appear at all? Don't know how to get rid of it😭
If you have no case and you are using a thin selfie stick it shouldn’t show. Try it in the desktop studio app and use the calibration tool to see if it corrects it. Toggle dynamic stitching on and off as well. Post a screen shot on instas Facebook group and tag them if you’re still having trouble.
I might disagree in one point: just shoot, don't hesitate to take a shot. It might turn out your shot does not work the way you intended, but this does not mean, it does not contain another great shot. Play around in post, don't let yourself be trapped in your own initial thoughts. Even if you intended an imersive photo, there might be a cool tiny planet or flat photo overcapture in it. Collect material and cast your verdict after examining in post production. Great point on using power banks. From personal experiance: don't be shy on size or capacity, there is so much more you can use it than just the One X and your phone. I got a rather big one that even can charge my drone up to four times. Even if it's large compared to other power banks it still slides in my side pocket, if I'm not having my backpack (coprising the drone, a LUMIX bridge camera and a notebook...and some accessories like filters, power connectors, wall chargers and a drinking bottle)
Caradellino Wazer these are some great points thanks for commenting. Yes you’re right I’ve taken some photos before with one idea in mind and then by changing it in the edit it’s saved the photo - you must think but not over think and then just get on with it and take the photo as you say. I would get a robust wide tripod like this Best360 one best360.shop?aff=3 and I would position it ideally opposite you. So there is you, the dog and then the camera on a selfie stick and tripod. If you can’t get the selfie stick high enough or if you are working against a wall with the dog then position the camera on the work surface the dog head end and a little bit higher then dog head height. You’d be able to get a nice Hyperlapse of the whole groom or wide shots and close ups. Voice activation is a good idea. I have an updated version of the mistakes video so dig around my channel. Thanks for the comment
@@EatSleep360 Thank you so much for this. The tripod you recommended arrives tomorrow. Can I just ask is the Insta the only way I can see my 360 videos. I don't know if it already worked out for you, but if you groom dogs in a certain room, you could also consider using a wire and hanging the camera upside down from the roof (just make sure the dogs don't think its a toy :D )

My mistake was trying to edit the footage without first downloading it to my iPhone - jerky as hell. Took me a while to figure out how to download to phone. Most of the searches turned up info on how to export, which is totally different.
Thanks for the comment - I made this mistake with the one x and didn’t realise you had to download to your phone otherwise you couldn’t edit it at all.
Just an update - I have found at times that my sandisk extreme cards don’t like recording for very long in 5.7k - I thought I’d got away with it but I think they do struggle - I’m going to start using the recommended extreme pro cards for video just to be safe. How is everyone else getting on?
I use Extreme Pro 256G. So far so good. I do backup often, to avoid losing all data in case the card get corrupted. The down side if such big card is, if I lost the camera, the person who pickup the card, will get all my footage.
I use large card for my DSLR too. I do photography mainly, i use OneX to document and record for my own use, not for youtube nor serious video. I typically can’t fill the card in a single day. I will backup every night before I rest. The advantage of having large card are. 1) no need to swap card in middle of shooting. 2) less card to manage and remember where I place them... or more accurately mis-place.
I bought the insta360 One X Apple bundle which includes even an sd card. The one inside my insta was a Sandisk Extreme (the one in gold) Uhs-I V30 so why they would bundle their camera with a sd card that they won't recommend? It would be such a stupid thing I thought..so today I bought another 256Gb Sandisk Extreme (the same model) , put it into the camera, formatted and then I let it film until the battery run out. It filmed 54min of 5.7k 30Fps video without any problem so. Maybe reformatting it from the camera from time to time gives the card a better reliability?
Andrea Capelli thanks for commenting. There is a lot of confusion with the card spec. On paper the extreme card spec looks fine but insta360 only recommend the pro cards but from what I’ve read they are just playing safe so they have no comeback. I use both extreme and extreme pro but if I’m filming 5.7k video for long periods then I use the pro just in case. Maybe it is Apple that has put the bundle together as i don’t think insta360 would include an extreme card as you said. It’s interesting what you said about reformatting the card, I’m not sure if that makes a difference or not. I do reformat every couple of weeks and it has only been the one time that I had an issue with the extreme cards.
biggest mistake I made with the insta360 one x, in the dive case, was to film until the battery ran out. I lost all my precious footage. so... only film short bursts and replace/recharge battery to capture that special moment.
Good advice - they should design the firmware so you can set it to save a fresh file every 5 minutes. I see you’ve been watching a couple of my older videos - thanks for watching 👍🏼😃
@@EatSleep360 yep, love your vids and as a relatively new owner I don't want to miss a trick. I have been getting long pole still shots of fishing lakes and farms recently and the one x is soooo cool at 14m.
Azores Fishing insta360 suggest v30 or above but I have used sandisk extreme cards and most of the time they are fine. They may struggle with long 5.7k shots or slow motion but usually they are ok. From now on though I’ll only use the extreme pro cards to be safe as the processing is becoming more demanding with the newer cameras.
@@EatSleep360 what was the longest video you made in the one x ? i bought mine to make fishing videos but i haven't test it yet , usually i make 2 hour of recording in my old action camera .
Azores Fishing I have only recorded 10 minutes at a time. For two hours you will need to use a power bank to power the camera. For that long I would get an extreme pro catd or I would start and stop the recording every 15 min - that way you know you won’t lose everything if it fails to record or the clip gets corrupted. I think it starts a new file after 30 min to safeguard you anyway but maybe do some tests.
Cheers man. I'm Looking for a solution to Live stream to YT using the 360X for more than the life of a battery without interrupting the broadcast. Any ideas?
@@EatSleep360 Apparently the 360 needs to be tethered to the phone to broadcast therefore the charging point is then used up!? You cannot stream to the phone wirelessly
Thai Tastic yes of course sorry I forgot about that, I’ve only done a live stream via the Vresh app as a test and yes had to keep the camera connected to the phone then. The cold weather battery which I think might now be the standard definitely lasts longer. As it’s hard wired could you turn off wifi on the camera to reduce battery usage maybe. It’s a good question and I don’t think there are enough people doing it so it hasn’t been addressed. Let me know if you find out any more info - a firmware update that allows you to split the usb input would be good but unlikely.
@@EatSleep360 For sure. Yes, of course, turning off anything not needed to preserve battery will help a little, but I stream Live for up to 12 hours from a phone but want to take it to the next level and be one of the worlds first. I think I'll have to seek out a technician on some forum somewhere that may have retrofitted a solution.
Austin Bauman thanks for the comment - this is a good point I should have mentioned more clearly in the video - the max card that the one x has been tested with is 256gb according to their site. However, as I said in the video I would safeguard my footage and shoot on smaller cards if you can.
Eat Sleep 360 I’ve bought an Insta360 One few months ago, but your videos on Insta360 One X have been really good form me to improve the use of it as well. I’m using this camera especially in sport, volleyball trainings actually (I’m a Coach), and athletes find the 360 videos very useful for their movements. Thank you!
Has anyone experience any video playback issues? Video and audio to the clip stutters, as if the video is in slow-mo, but recorded normally. Even looking at previous clips that was perfectly fine before, is starting to do that as well. Video is saved on sd card on camera and on phone. Someone please advise. Thanks in advance!

I see there is a maximum capacity of 128GB for the memory card.
Austin Bauman thanks for the comment - this is a good point I should have mentioned more clearly in the video - the max card that the one x has been tested with is 256gb according to their site. However, as I said in the video I would safeguard my footage and shoot on smaller cards if you can.
Thank you! I also appreciate your clear English!
Marco Mengarelli thank you I’m glad you find it clear - it’s always hard to tell when you listen to yourself - thanks for watching
Eat Sleep 360 I’ve bought an Insta360 One few months ago, but your videos on Insta360 One X have been really good form me to improve the use of it as well. I must confess that I’m not very good in using the Insta360 Studio instead (I’ve got a Mac). I’m using this camera especially in sport, volleyball trainings actually (I’m a Coach), and athletes find the 360 videos very useful for their movements. Thank you!
Marco Mengarelli it’s great to have your feedback thank you - yes 360 is brilliant for sport and really valuable for the players. 👍🏼
I made the mistake of hand holding the camera. Terrible mistake. An entire day of shooting ruined by my stupid thumb. 😠.
My mistake is my first video is in slow motion when I play it back in the app
I recently scratched the Len 😭, what should I do?
Sorry to hear that - Contact insta360 through their site and arrange a repair
That
