Air Marshal Anil Chopra(Retd), a veteran Indian Air Force Fighter Pilot and aerospace expert elaborated on the same, while speaking about his upcoming book “China-The Rising Aerospace Power - Implications for India”, at an event hosted by the Chennai Centre for China studies (C3S).
Touching upon the number of orbital rocket launches performed in 2021, he stated "China has more orbital launches than USA and all Asian countries put together.. In 2021, China had 55 launches and we (India) had only two launches. Via 55 launches, China placed 115 spacecraft, a total payload mass of more than 191 metric tons in orbit in 2021" he said. Comparing the launch vehicles of India and China, he said that the Chinese Long March 5 rocket is capable of carrying nearly five times as much payload as India's heavy-lifter the 4-tonner GSLV-Mk3. In terms of capacity building, China is also building heavy-lift category rockets that can carry between 50-50tons to orbit, he added.

@@sleepyjoe4529 That's extremely interesting and also a little intimidating. With those kind of haulage capabilities, who knows what they could put into orbit and with all due respect, I wouldn't put anything past them. I appreciate your comment.

India needs something that can carry a minimum of 200 tons or more to Mars and further as well as to carry space station modules to the GTO or even moon's orbit closer to Earth. GLSV-MK3 as it is simply won't do the job.

@Varaha Shakthi because we ALREADY have the internet access. Send a new rocket up for future investments into 6G technology? Over spending on improving global food security? Or maybe you prefer the delicacy of eating space rocks. You can tell this to the starving people to starve for another few more years while waiting for investment returns that they may or may not benefit from it, and food prices continue to inflate.

@@starfalx9634 India is not totally like what you saw in the movies. It is not slums everywhere and people dying for food. As an Indian, I witnessed a rapid development in people's lifestyle in just a decade. And also it is also one of the fastest growing economies. If we have to involve in more researches we need more money and I'm sure that we'll achieve a consistency within two decades. And I'm accepting that we're lacking in manythings. Progress never made in a single day. 😉

Space is to serve humanity. How long earth will survive? One big asteroid and earth will tear apart. It makes space very imp. It is must that we explore and colonise the space.

      It happened with Dhruv helicopter.
We know it and it is a machine and this can happen with helicopter at a difficult terrain and Arunachal.
From the date of induction till know Dhruv have 6 crashes , which isn't a big number for a helicopter which is produced 300+ till know.
