It is interesting to me how Ed's iteration of the Realms, and also in older editions (mainly 2nd edition) deals with some mature themes like scorts and drugs, and how WotC's current Realms is so "neutered" and even childish by comparison. This is one of the things that makes Ed's "version" feels much more like a real place that could really exist, while WotC's feels like just a setting made for a game.
I love logging onto UA-cam and just getting a handful of free stories to add to my campaign world. The first two in this video are each interesting enough to build an entire stretch of campaign around. Good stuff!

Several times on both ends actually, though my favorite time of getting in trouble was when my party was attempting to steal the shipping manifests of a large port town. The party consisted of a rogue, a fighter, a psionist, a cleric and a barbarian. To make a long story short, when the documents were in our hands the barbarian who had been left outside with the fighter and cleric decided they were tired of waiting. So they kicked in the door of the building which alerted the burly guards, a fight ensued which we lost handedly. Thankfully we weren't killed, but we were put in jail for a time. We hatched a plan to escape that actually worked surprisingly, then after recovering we continued the adventure. Now my favorite times getting away with things boils down to filching pies and other items of an edible nature off windowsills and the like, my latest rogue/ranger does so as she claims she is liberating the items from those who clearly don't need them. Of course she doesn't steal from the poor as that is in bad taste in her eyes. This was really fun to watch, thank you for all you do. =^_^=
I have a question concerning the weave of magic on Toril, I know it's damaged and weakened due to the sundering events and the spell plague, along with a few other events. I would really appreciate your input on how someone could go about fixing it. Weave Knights and High Mages have abilities that allow them to "fix" areas of wild magic and dead magic, but both utilitizes the weave to do so which would weaken the over all weave on Toril. I have theories about how someone could do it. I'd really like to hear what you have to say about because you are the man, the lore master of the forgotten realms, who else would know how to fix the weave. Thank you very much.
Yes. The head of an assassinated Queen. We were being set up to take the fall and if we took the head we could have gone to a sympathetic NPC and have the Cleric cast Speak With Dead so the Queen could have told the true version of events and gotten us off the hook but "oh no respect the dead!" "Oh no cutting the queen's head off is sending the wrong message". UGH!
Indeed I do have one. In a home brew world setting, The adventure spread across many livable planet sized moons that rotate around a MASSIVE gas giant planet. Except for the rare gates or other powerful magic, they were hard to travel across. That was until a group of inventive gnomes and halflings constructed a fully functional and effective spelljammer like ship. That soon grew into a massive shipping fleet that went on to dominate trade routes. Pirates can't touch them. It didn't take long before this shipping industry attracted the underworld elements and that world equivalent of the mobs moved in on them. Enter my rouge halfling character. After a long and drawn out parallel plot I, the player, started along side the original storyline the GM made. It ended with me the play roleplaying, bluffing and flat out BSing the GM (and good dice rolls) his way into the "Mob" as an accountant. From there he stole a huge sum of money from them. When they started to notice he wasn't the real accountant, he instigated a Gang war that wound up wrecking several major Mob families. He then sweep up after ward and looted their vaults in the after math. That was just ONE of his many adventures... Edit: I nearly pulled a Henderson on the entire campaign in pulling that stunt of looting the mobs in so much he got more gold in that play than the rest of the party put together would get for several levels.

When i think of thieves and rogues i think of erevis cale, cyric, and artemis entreri. I am just now finding this channel, so many great videos to look forward to.
Ah. I entitled my vid "most interesting" thieves because I wanted to spotlight some who aren't doing the traditional snatch-and-grab. Shadier than the Black Viper is indeed a narrow category.
There are many paths to success. Thieving need not be yours or anyone's. Thus spake the high priest. (The thief behind the tapestry with half the temple takings in his pouch, just grinned.)
Ed Greenwood wearing an Ed Greenwood shirt is somehow the funniest self endorsement I have ever seen. And Ivan, do I know you from somewhere else. You look super familiar but I can't quite place it.
I'm going to have to take issue with the pronunciation of 'artificer'. At least in our world, the stress is on the second sylLAble. My source is the OED 2010 edition. As great an authority as Mr. Greenwood is, I'll take the word of OED over his on, well, words.
@Alexises95 You're suggesting going with the descriptive rather than the presricptive route. That's fine, but that removes the primary use of both the dictionary's and Ed's opinion - giving us the correct usage rather than the common usage.
Mr. Greenwood is such a treasure
As a rogue player, I can attest to all shenanigans that follow rogues.
How's it feel to have a better channel than the company itself

While I am more inclined towards the Art, watching the antics of thieves is an endless source of entertainment 😁

Rediscovering Forgotten Realms and decided to start reading the novels. Just finished Darkwalker on Moonshae 😊😮
The very first FR novel. Nice!

This video is definitely giving me some food for thought for a thief character I’m coming up with for my writing.

Awesome! You should be the narrator for Amazon’s Audible FRealms books Ed!

Thanks for a good start to my weekend! Love your videos!
Love Ed Greenwood and lovin all the Realms love. Please keep it coming!
I am very glad to be alive during the time Mr. Greenwood shares his amazing creations and thoughts
You Had Me At Six armed drow
Love the plot hooks from the Sage!❤
This was a great video and shows just how creative and troubling thief characters can be, love the insights. =^_^=
Thank you for the information, Mr. Greenwood. It is interesting. :)
Hi Ed and Ivan!! I considere joining to patreon. But allways wonder what about sorcerers in Forgotten Realms. I hope some day see a top 5 sorcerers ❤
Added to the list!
We jokingly refer to our party's Aasimar as an "ASMR" :D
Wow, apart from maybe Lamarambra, these are some straight up villains.
Great video! I'm big fan of FR!
I'm more interested in the Art/power but it's still fun to learn abouth these thiefs
Great video. Only question I have is where is The Black Viper? Is it possible there are 5 shadier thieves than The Black Viper? Wow!!!
Ah. I entitled my vid "most interesting" thieves because I wanted to spotlight some who aren't doing the traditional snatch-and-grab. Shadier than the Black Viper is indeed a narrow category.
@@edgreenwoodofficial oh, your list makes more sense now. Thanks for clarifying it for me.
My party and I have mostly been well behaved, because none of them had a penchant for thieving.
There are many paths to success. Thieving need not be yours or anyone's. Thus spake the high priest. (The thief behind the tapestry with half the temple takings in his pouch, just grinned.)
Well said. There are many roads, some lead to the same destination, so I hardly worry about which detour I take, I enjoy the journey.
A running gag in my group is instead of Syl Pasha it's Sly Pasha.
Sly Pasha was the (yes, real) name of a guard on my high school football team. Luckily I was a tight end so never had to get flattened by him.
@@edgreenwoodofficial it's quite a pleasant surprise to hear you are a fellow athlete and a nerd. Cheers mister Greenwood
Seems like real estate is big in the realms these days
That shirt makes it look like you were trimming your beard and forgot to clean it up... LOL!
Iymrith kids!
Please please. We need the history of the elven god Erevan Ilesere. I beg you!!❤
it's too bad Rouvanae went the way she did, imagine the reign of terror the two could've had together (to say nothing of the perv factor, lol)
💙
Will turnerstone
All women. Interesting.
There are some male thieves on the Patreon, that got cut from the video.
@@edgreenwoodofficial good to know!… about the males AND the Patreon. I’ll have to check that out. Thank you Sir!
Ed Greenwood wearing an Ed Greenwood shirt is somehow the funniest self endorsement I have ever seen. And Ivan, do I know you from somewhere else. You look super familiar but I can't quite place it.
Hey, when I'm wearing the shirt, I see myself on the screen and remember my name. :}

Nope. For me and all Canadians, my pronunciation IS the "correct" usage. And for the Realms, I get to decide what's correct.
Who is the bustiest female or hermaphrodite spellcaster in the Realms?
I've honestly never measured.
@Ed Greenwood I always said that The Simbul has nothing to envy on Sofia Vergara in that regard.
Omg you did it!!!!! TY for this @EdGreenwood
