Paul David Hewson a.k.a bono born on May 10, 1960, in Dublin, Ireland.
In October 1976, while still in high school, he became "Bono Vox" and joined the band U2.
After releasing Boy, its debut album, U2 quickly started touring.
Their sixth album, The Joshua Tree, which won a Grammy, was released in 1987, and it propelled the group and its outspoken frontman to stardom.
Bono has used his fame to raise awareness for a variety of world issues outside of music.
He has met with world leaders and numerous American politicians over the years to discuss topics like AIDS, global poverty, and debt relief for developing nations.
