- Ready for some Blower Surge? Check out the life of the Boxvette. Looking for a custom Blower engine that lets you have the best of both worlds? Nothing like seeing a Big Tire Blown Street Vette that can do it all cruising the streets, the highway, and hitting the track with a some burnouts mixed in. Wait! Did I mention she is a show car too?
This was fun to watch! Also, I thought it was great when you backed out of the driveway onto the gravel and water. She is not a trailer queen thankfully.

I bet.. After every time I’d be thanking god that me and the car are still in one piece.
It probably gets almost an entire mile per gallon but that economy goes right out the window when he steps on the loud pedal.

exactly. People get so upset over the blower surge but it goes away as soon as we step on the gas so it is all good.

A Formula 1 V10 at 18000rpm is how an engine should sound but this big Chevy makes happy noise too.
Love it! Backs out right through a mud puddle. Anyone else would've laid down boards and a velvet blanket. Drive it to the track and make a pro mod piss his pants so bad he was spinning in it 🤣👍👍👍

@@blowersurge That is not blower surge, the carbs are out of sync. It's running rich then lean. If blower surge or was a thing, then why don't blown drag engines surge? It's called proper tuning. The only way a blower will surge. 1 is a vac leak. 2 poor or worn out seals, caused from dirt getting in the seals and scoring the walls. 3 improper carb jetting. A blower setup needs smaller jets buy 2 sizes in the rear carb, the rear pistons are getting flooded. Find a flaw in my statement let me know. On a good note, it is a very nice car for sure.
@@ducewags Yes, the engine is running rich. We want the engine to run rich. It has nothing to do with any of the other things you have mentioned. If any of those other items you listed were a factor then the car wouldn't perform the way it does. (we also understand how to maintain the carbs and the engine) The surge is only when it is at low idle and it evens out when the RPM's go up when the car is driven or raced. That is the reason why blown drag cars don't surge is because they run at 2500 RPM. Even if they ran rich they wouldn't surge. The Boxvette idles at 800 - 1400 RPM so it surges. We have been running the car for over 20 years the surge doesn't cause any issues. We understand that some people love it and others hate it. So while we appreciate your input it isn't something we are going to change. Thanks for your comment. 😊

Whenever there's blow surge the number one cause is they did not set up the fuel system correctly However, blower surge is is really kool. It gives a vehicle character and character goes a long way

I made a scoop like that when I was in high school shop class for my 348 tri-power that taped down at the rear carb, but when I stepped on it I got a big popping { thinking that the rear carbs was not getting the air flow the other carbs were getting } put the stock air cleaner back on it was fine. But the way your car goes on the strip your must be ok

What is the reason for the very rough idle, like he's constantly 'blipping' the throttle to avoid it stalling. Is it impossible to get both power and smooth low rpms?

Thanks and Yes, the surge goes away when we hit the gas. It is only on idle. Blower surge is due to the combination and running the engine a little rich to produce the surging sound. Some people like it some people don't. We don't have to blip the throttle it is just how the car runs. What country are you from?
