Tomislav you make it look effortless….. unfortunately to a beginner it definitely wouldn’t be. I’ve nearly clamped my teeth together watching this one 😂 waiting for the catch which didn’t come, of course. As a proficient turner like yourself, you know the feel of the wood. With a scraper that big I’d be scared stiff, as a 70year old lady I wouldn’t attempt it, however I do use lighter hollowing tools for the job. Brilliant as usual and a delight to watch, I bet Richard is proud of you. Keep up the good work. Regards Helen 👏👏👏
I've done a lot of smaller hollow forms with a regular tools and a hook nose scraper. Now I use shop made hollowing tools and a kelton medium hollower. I just got a sorby hollowmaster, but haven't really gotten a hang of it yet, been mostly roughing out cherry and apple bowls.
A nice looking end result Tomislav . You have a lathe with the capability to swivel the headstock to make hollow forms much easier to turn and access. Why not use it ?
Nice weeble wobble pot! You got a very nice interior surface with your scraper but kind of scary looking with that much overhang. Easier with specializedhollowing tools but unless you do a lot of hollow forms, they may be hard to justify.
As a novice turner I would have thought that a narrower scraper for the inside bottom of the bowl would have been less chance of a catch and easier to control. Your thoughts? Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for another great video! Beautiful piece! I am curious what happens to all of the items created in your YT videos? Do you keep them or have a store-front somewhere? Thought I'd let you know it looks like you have a google email link or something for Richard's YT link by accident. I really like the "un-tippable" container. Does that shape/style have a specific name in wood-turning (I'd like to see more of this type but don't know what to search).

So how did you become a mentor of Mr. Raffan? Did you go to his shop or did he come to yours?
