The 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray can compete with the best from Germany and Italy at a fraction of the price. The base model Stingray Convertible starts at $56,000 and has the performance to hang with the super exotics of the world. The Z51 Convertible tested here has an MSRP of $58,800.
The Chevrolet Corvette is an American Icon that has withstood the evolution of the automobile industry for decades. The 7th generation Corvette Stingray represents a dramatic departure from the rounded design language of Corvette from the past. There is a lot that is upgraded and updated for the 21st century but at the core, the Corvette Stingray Convertible is still instantly recognizable. Up front is a wide mouth aggressive fascia with an integrated chin spoiler. There is a unique vent in the hood to let in cold air and the LED headlights are in line with the exotic cars of the world. This Z51 model has dark blacked out rims that are wrapped in barely street legal Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Out back is one of the most dramatic changes with the squared-off taillights which are no longer rounded.
Under the hood of the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray Convertible is an LT4 6.2 liter V-8 engine that makes 455 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 MPH flies by in 3.8 seconds and fuel economy is 17 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. The convertible top can be operated up to speeds at 30 MPH. The great thing about the convertible system is the hard tonneau cover that hides the folded top.

The Coverette is classic Americana power, prestige, and elegance. The capabilities and affordability compared to its European speaks volumes. I may not ever be able to afford such a car but I always enjoy seeing them cruising down any street or boulevard. I'd conjecture that the 0-60 time is not so much about horsepower as it is about gearing, grip, and torque linearity.

I'm the same height. You can fit but it is really uncomfortable compared to the c6. The seats are not better imo, but they look better. Unless you have really skinny legs, the bottom outter edge of the seat will hit the back of your thighs because the seat is too narrow.
I sat in one at a dealership and ur absolutely right uncomfortable
the stingray convertible looks so much better than the coupe. i miss the round design though. this looks too edgy to call a corvette.

This new design actually brought me back to being interested in buying one. I welcome this new design with open arms. It's absolutely beautiful and I happen to love the new rear end. It was time for a change. Good job Chevy/GM , imho!
Looks like a Corvette to me. If anything I wish they would release a real coupe like the C5 Z06. That body style is just so amazing.

Can't believe they increased the price of this car $2,000 in March, and $1,400 on the Z51 package. PLUS, a 1% price increase on the 2015 stingray. GM is getting too greedy. Also, they're too cheap to do a recall on their chevy cobalt for their defective ignition switch resulting in at least a dozen death. Terrible company.
no round taillights and no pop up headlamps is so uncorvette. that's like asking mustang to forego its triple bar taillights. those were signature lines of the car and now they are gone. GM must have had an Italian designer heading the design team. Domestics these days are trying too hard to be imports yet alone keep up with them.

I am proud of the C5 and somewhat of the C6 as aside from the headlamps, it still had the corvette factor. But C7 is a major disaster. Do you really think a 23 yr. old kid is gonna be able to afford a corvette? The major target audience should be what it always has been.
erin morales Firstly, you do realize the C5 lights are ovals right? Secondly, the first corvette had neither four round tail lights nor pop up headlights. A 23 year old kid with a solid job (not working at some cheap fast food place) and basic knowledge of how to budget their money can easily afford a Corvette. It's all about budgeting. The only signature of the corvette is the crossed flags and the stance, both of which the C7 has retained, and made far more impressive.
