I buy the frozen boba at TJ's all the time. I never use the microwave. I boil it in a saucepan for 90 seconds and the boba is bouncy, soft and chewy: just perfect.
@@austinf9238 there was a. I’d be did a while back about a sushi place in Texas and it was the point where I realized you can buy a review from him. Same with the pizza shop that sells out every day…
I haven’t been able to try tteokbokki, even though I live in Koreatown, because most aren’t vegan friendly. I tried the Trader Joe’s one and it was so good but I wasn’t sure if it was close to authentic in flavor since I never had the fresh one. It’s nice to know they made it with authentic flavors. I loved the spicy sweet flavor. The one thing I noticed is that chewy foods are not something I enjoy. I had to cook the rice cakes longer because I liked them when they were super tender. The softer the rice cake the better for me. It made it easier for the sauce to give the inside flavor after biting it. The inside was bland which makes sense because it’s a thick rice cake. But the sauce was so good.
Yes! Oh by the way they JUST got korean bulgogi but it is 12.99 . but i have been hearing it is veryyy good! i bought the garlicky noodles to pair mine with. I will cook them this weekend or monday afternoon.
I like their Green Onion Pancakes better--they're pretty much the same but a little bigger. I fry them just enough to get a little crispy and then use them like a taco shell. For filling I use the beefless bulgogi and some of their stir fried garlicky cabbage. Yum!
hey mike, i got a similar instant boba pack recently and it had slightly different instructions that makes heating the packs a lot easier and safer: set the pack upright in a microwave safe cup and tear a small opening for steam to escape, then nuke it for about a minute (the extra time is to account for the mass of the cup) before mixing it as normal! putting it in a cup prevents you from having to handle the hot packet right out of the microwave, and tearing a lil steam vent will prevent the packet from exploding lol. hope this helps you or anyone coming across this that wants to try instant boba!
Just found your channel. Very enjoyable content. My primary care physician turned me on to Korean food years ago. I’m diabetic (T2), and she said eat anything, but go easy on rice and noodles. I’ve listened to her advice and I love the cuisine!
Ive been getting the rice cakes for about a year now in order to make my own tteokbokki before they got tteokbokki itself (have yet to try it) and its honestly game changing.
Mikey do they make other sauces for the rice cakes because I like em but I’m not always able to take the heat because everyone has a different spice level depending on where you go
Trader Joe’s also sells pork belly as well. I don’t live near a grocery store that carries pork belly so I normally buy the very expensive Trader Joe’s version
With the squiggly knife cut noodles, I find a half a spoonful of sambal oelek and a couple of pinches of ground sichuan peppercorns makes them delightful.
I’m not saying how I know, all I’m saying is take two of those cinnamon pancakes while they’re still hot and put a Reese’s peanut butter cup between them….
I remember during a live stream shopping at Trader Joe's Mike said "You sxck Trader Joe's" "Seriously Trader Joe's, you're such a disappointment" "This place is like, we're Trader Joe's we don't have normal stuff. It's too normal for us"
TJ's must have some Korean aunties working for them behind the scenes, maybe? I worked for Trader Joe's back in the day for a bit and they've always had good quality stuff. If there was one closer to me here in Dallas, I'd be going there more often!
Kimchi was spicy but lacking in flavor, was better after I added some fish sauce, sugar and salt, but would not buy again. I did also try the beef bulgogi, which I liked.
I wish all hummus used healthier oils like olive or avocado. Most of the TJ hummus uses cheap oils that cause inflammation. I love the red pepper and garlic hummus but again, not a fan of the bad oils. Canola, sunflower, rice bran, are typical in most products there. I give the, credit for expeller pressed oils in some options.
When you visit Austria again, you need to visit the western area like Innsbruck or Bregenz. The cousine there is quite different to Vienna. And since you love korean rice cakes, you need to try "Schupfnudeln" (literal translation would be "push noodles). They have a similar mouth feel and chew like rice cakes, but are made from a similar dough to gnocchi. Normally they are eaten fried in brown butter and served with finely grated parmesan. But sometimes on flea markets, you can find a version, where they are fried with sauerkraut and little bacon cubes, which is my absolute favorite. Also there are dumplings called "Pressknödel" you need to try. There are two versions with different base doughs. One is with potatoes and the other one is really similar to "Semmelknödel". What both have in common, is that they are both made with added cheese and are fried in a pan. They can be served with sauerkraut or as a garnish for a good beef broth
That's not Tteokbokki. It is just Tteok. Tteok is what the rice cakes are called. Bokki are a fish cake that are mixed together with the rice cakes in Korea. I don't know why they have omitted the fish cakes.

I know it’s not Korean but trader Joes has a Japanese fried rice that is super good I can’t get enough of it
Which one?
@@moreadventure3627 it’s called Japanese Style Fried Rice with edamame, tofu, and hijiki seaweed
It’s the best fried rice they have!
There chicken soup dumplings are good.
Mike was either really hungry or in a really good mood. He liked every item!
He's a shill
@@austinf9238 you think so? He seems to be pretty honest in his reviews.
@@austinf9238he isn’t paid by them lol

His objectivity went away a long time ago.
I'm obsessed with Trader Joe's frozen foods. Absolutely the best!!!👍🏻
Beefless bulgogi browns nicely when cooked in the pan! You even get some crispy bits :)
That's how I make it. It's one of my very favorite things.
Mike ate broccoli!!!!
😂😂
Lol
He really didn't have a choice. It was mixed in with everything else.
Cooked brocolli taste different than raw brocoli which he doesn't like
@@lindamccarthy8887 He could have also not bought the dish? So yeah, he chose to eat the broccoli.
Oooh I love kalbi and bugolgi
yes!! Running to trader joes!! YUMMM
Oooo so glad I bought their rice cakes the other day! Sitting in my freezer but I’m gonna plan a meal around those based on this!
Both the TJ's Thai Tofu Curry and Fiery Chicken Indian curry are legit spicy! Bravo Trader Joe's!
I had the fiery chicken curry for the first time yesterday and I was shocked at how spicy they made a freaking TV dinner ya know 🤣

TJs is the only frozen food I will eat. I love all the different varieties of meals they have. Most of the flavors are pretty authentic.
Mikey’s taste buds have graduated with the broccoli 😂👏🏻
truth
broccoli is healthy. haha
Hi Mike
Thank you for sharing.
Yo, use the TJ Sriracha with the scallion pancake! Life!

Mikey you gotta cut a corner of the boba bag so it doesn't explode in the microwave lol Stand it up in a mug and cut the corner then microwave it.
Trader Joes chili onion crunch is a game changer 😊
Am envious of the cookware! And the kitchen reminds me of his place in Seattle
I love trader Joe's short ribs. Also the kimchi and green onion pancakes are good!😊
Try the kimbap! It’s always sold out every where!!!
I FINALLY found it the other day, and it is sooo good!
I'm surprised you didnt call the boba umami
You gotta go back and the gimbab (in yhe frozen section). Game changer!!! It sells out very fast though

Wow, Now I need a Trader Joe's in my country !!

My favorite hummus of all!
Ive been getting the rice cakes for about a year now in order to make my own tteokbokki before they got tteokbokki itself (have yet to try it) and its honestly game changing.
pajeon dipped in hummus looked so good
Um no
You have to cut open the brown sugar pearls package to let out the steam in the microwave!!
They have a non frozen bulgogi that’s amazing.
Mikey do they make other sauces for the rice cakes because I like em but I’m not always able to take the heat because everyone has a different spice level depending on where you go
But that vegetable stir fry had broccoli, your nemesis!
LOL my first thought.

I knew I recognized this…Trader Joe’s in Fort Myers. I hope you went to some other local restaurants!
They have frozen beef bulgogi now. I just had it for dinner. It’s actually really good for frozen food. 😊
WHAT IS THAT WHITE SAUTE PAN YOU HAVE?? i love it
The Costco guy needs to do this
I love Trader Joe’s 🎉❤
Love the channel one of my favorite
TJs is yhe best!!!👌.

I’m not saying how I know, all I’m saying is take two of those cinnamon pancakes while they’re still hot and put a Reese’s peanut butter cup between them….
thanks i miss the good ep's
I air fry the rice cakes first then put in the sauce 🎉
The vegetable stir fry must have been excellent if Mike ate it with broccoli. LOL. It's good to see your long-time fans notice that.
I wish we had Trader Joe’s in Quebec!
I remember during a live stream shopping at Trader Joe's Mike said "You sxck Trader Joe's" "Seriously Trader Joe's, you're such a disappointment" "This place is like, we're Trader Joe's we don't have normal stuff. It's too normal for us"
Hahaha his behind the scenes stream was the reaaaal reason why no one wanted to do cameos anymore lol
Thanks Mike for doing this review. I'm just starting to try Korean recipes so this all looks good. I'll have to try them.
Love your content Mike! Looking good 😊😊😊❤❤
Thats the Fort Myers TJ's!

Thank you for shopping at trader Joe's ❤❤❤❤
I love Trader Joe’s
We had a new Trader Joe open near me. Time to go shopping!
who else watching this while they’re hungry dear lord
Holy cow Mike ate BROCCOLI!!!
I would have liked to see your review of their kimbap, I've seen mixed reviews online about it
It would help if you listed the price you paid. Even if the food is restaurant quality, it would be a no go if the price is restaurant prices

There’s quite a few in Dallas.
Wait a minute!!!! That looks like our TJ in Florida Lee County to be exact 🤔. Mike you rascal you could’ve called me 😂😂😂
Love me some Trader Joe’s!

WHAT BROCCOLI - GOOD!
The short ribs are awesome!
“Even the broccoli here tasted good” was wild mike
My closest Trader Joe is 70 miles away. I'm not that dedicated where I can't make my own😊
We eat the soup dumplings that you tried year’s ago
No TJ’s Kim bop 😢. Very good
Now I want a scallion pancake at midnight 😭
That pancake gave me such bad gas 🤢

err you're supposed to cut the corner of the boba pouch or else it explodes :)
Love Trader Joes

Gimbap must be sold out at your TJ’s. It’s the best!!!
Sold Out Everywhere! I’ve looked in at least 3 separate Trader Joe’s in my area. The staff says it comes in and then sells out immediately.
Good Morning From Portugal!
Trader Joe's kimchi is from Korea
Are you in Gainesville Florida?
Thats ft myers fl
Love TJ Kimchi!!
I’m curious what kind of pans those are that you cook with?!?
I really like Trader Joe's.
When I tell you I GASPED how the boba exploded 😂

off the great wall
I like the scallion pancakes.😊 i or8ginally got them at a Boba shop in Austin.
Hummus is the best food in the world!
It's like watching a little kid trying to reach up high to get something off a shelf.
Hiro-san! Where do you buy the wooden mandolin?
