Great musician/artist/entertainer/real person! I was blessed to see him in concert in the 70's multiple times! He is AMAZING! I miss those days so much! Glad I still have my memories! =)
Lyrics: Longer boats are coming to win us They're coming to win us, they're coming to win us Longer boats are coming to win us Hold on to the shore, they'll be taking the key from the door Longer boats are coming to win us They're coming to win us, they're coming to win us Longer boats are coming to win us Hold on to the shore, they'll be taking the key from the door, oh I don't want no God on my lawn Just a flower I can help along 'Cause the soul of no body knows How a flower grows, oh How a flower grows Longer boats are coming to win us They're coming to win us, they're coming to win us Longer boats are coming to win us Hold on to the shore, they'll be taking the key from the door Mary dropped her pants by the sand And let a parson come and take her hand But the soul of nobody knows Where the parson goes Where does the parson go? Longer boats are coming to win us They're coming to win us, they're coming to win us Longer boats are coming to win us Hold on to the shore, they'll be taking the key from the door
From my point of view, it's about refusing religious colonisation, about independence as a fundamental priority. Indeed quite different than what he thinks today. But still what a beautiful song.
I believe it is Larry Steele, but watching on my phone and no good clear shots. He and Alun Davies were the band and all performed at most of the 70s concerts.
@@indiansfever11 that would be sis. Lol. I'm a lifelong fan of Cat (2 1/2 years his senior. ) would have loved a real conversation with him back in the 70s and even now as Yusuf. Glad he came back to expose new generations to his incredible music and 70s music in general but he can keep his religious beliefs (he can believe whatever he wants) but they have a negative effect on his songs as Yusuf and his performances
@@chriscorbin6980 sorry sis =) I'm 36 i wouldn't say I'm hardcore fan of cat stevens but I love this version of longer boats plus the story about what the song means and it having to do with aliens is pretty interesting I'd love to pick his brain about it
@@chriscorbin6980 What do you mean by this negative effect if I may ask? I am not a muslim or religious at all but I personally think that some of Yusuf's songs about his beliefs are some of his best, I'm talking about The Beloved, Olive Hill or All kinds of Roses. So I appreciate his inspiration. I mean obviously his music doesnt have the same power and strength and brilliant poetry as back in the 70s, but I still enjoy it
The world just wasn't ready for these girls. One of the first concerts I ever saw
Amazing live version with the extra lyrics , Tea for Tillerman is a masterpiece
God I love this man. I’ve had a crush on him since I was 15! I’m now 68.

I love Cat Stevens..And he sings with so much heart &soul...and those eyes ❤❤✌
His ex-girlfriend thought his eyes looked like those of a cat ... that's the reason Steven Demetre Georgiou later adopted the stage name Cat Stevens!
Live Bonus Verse!! This is the best performance of this song I've heard.
I agree
Thank you 😊
His voice is so powerful how can you not love Cat Stevens .. my all time favorite for sure.
A brilliant performance of a great song by a truly gifted artist!
That was amazing.
Just Great
That last verse is not on the studio version. I guess he wanted to make sure everyone knew the song was about UFO's and aliens.
Granada TV filming Cat, Alun and Larry Steele on bass
Outstanding
Pre album release he edited the last verse
fresh
Amazing video
Do you have Moonshadow and Father and Son from same concert?
AMO
Lyrics:
Longer boats are coming to win us
They're coming to win us, they're coming to win us
Longer boats are coming to win us
Hold on to the shore, they'll be taking the key from the door
Longer boats are coming to win us
They're coming to win us, they're coming to win us
Longer boats are coming to win us
Hold on to the shore, they'll be taking the key from the door, oh
I don't want no God on my lawn
Just a flower I can help along
'Cause the soul of no body knows
How a flower grows, oh
How a flower grows
Longer boats are coming to win us
They're coming to win us, they're coming to win us
Longer boats are coming to win us
Hold on to the shore, they'll be taking the key from the door
Mary dropped her pants by the sand
And let a parson come and take her hand
But the soul of nobody knows
Where the parson goes
Where does the parson go?
Longer boats are coming to win us
They're coming to win us, they're coming to win us
Longer boats are coming to win us
Hold on to the shore, they'll be taking the key from the door

Just enjoy the music!
the younger bums!
Am I wrong to think this is spiritual? Heaven bound?
Aliens ?
Who's on bass guitar?

This song is completely meaningless. Change my mind.
