That Milan joker started the session with telling us about the three eras in Indian politics, the last of them being the Mandal Era where people voted for their votebanks along caste and religion lines (though he does not mention "religion" by name).
Then at 1:25:00 he tries to force the point that Indians do not vote along caste and religion lines, and cites us academic papers.
Bhai, ya to tu chutia hai ki 3 eras bataye, ya to humko chutiya bana raha hai by citing spurious papers that deny votebank politics. The whole reason Rahul Gandhi fought from Wayanad and that SP-BSP came together against Modi is that there are votebanks.

The basic problem is they are educated in another set of parameters, which cannot decipher this phenomenon called the “ Indian Continent”. Like those who wrote extensively about economics of a country they neither lived in nor experienced on their own, and hence, knew nothing about - excepting from some “books” or rather opinions of another alien who saw or surmised what he saw. It’s a typical - wasting time for a living group - who haven’t even been living the philosophy they claim to know so much about. The corporate figures they are taking the help of to judge doesn’t reflect more than - probably - 15% of the economy.

Should I demonstrate my disappointment about these highly "academically" educated panelists who missed the most important point about why Modiji won in 2014 and went on to win again in 2019 and perhaps will win again in 2024: "IDENTIFICATION" ........This word has not been mentioned even once in this discussion. You did not get it, I know. Let me explain. A man identifies himself with another whom he believes will identify with himself. So, when this simple man who struggled throughout his life, selling tea at train stations as a child helping his parents who, then, despite not having attended western universities, lifts a state like Gujarat to unimaginable heights, the man on the street starts to wonder and says to himself..."someone like me was capable of such achievement" !!! That means like someone like me also has "value". Then he suddenly realizes that this great man speaks in a local language rather the language of those who oppressed and looted his country while the "other" politicians adopt the language of those who oppressed them for centuries and finally broke the country and created havoc. These thoughts build up into an explosion that finally transforms the layman into a follower of the one with whom they identify as their own, as their idol, as their hero. And when that hero gives them and their women cooking gas, toilets, electricity and starts empowering them, make them open bank accounts, encourages them to use technology for bank dealings, they realize the extent to which English speaking politicians had been crushing them for decades under their feet making them feel like filth while they, as well, could have easily walked the path of progress. That is why Modiji won and if he delivers as he has been delivering, he will win again and again. His victory has very little to do with economy, employment or terrorist neighbors. IDENTIFICATION.

To my surprise, Elissa was very knowledgeable about the policies and scheme laid out by BJP on grass root level which you rarely see among foreign Journalists who only likes to portray Modi as some evil person. Most of the elitists in India hate him because they just can't comprehend a person not so literate is calling shots for the country. Whatever he does for the good of public is seen as propaganda by them. Modi may not have a Harvard degree under his belt but he is lot more familiar to ground realities in India. He didn't perform well on all the fronts but good enough to warrant another term in governance. Meanwhile, opposition needs to take a long hard look at themselves and what do they stand for. Because without good opposition in parliament, BJP may not strive for further betterment. I think BJP can continue its progressive work in the country for next 5 years without indulging in cheap politics. Good luck to them!!

If presiding over murders of countless people doesn’t make you evil not sure what else does. Modi is as unfit as Trump and this has nothing to do with their policies. They don’t have a policy of their own, its rather driven largely by their ideology which they share with a lot of their party men. The first speaker put it aptly. Elections are a matter of perception, and fact of the matter is Modi has way better image than anyone else in India at the moment. But that doesn’t mean he’s a saint or best guy for the job. A godse loving candidate wins while someone who worked for the betterment of people loses to a candidate who has zero experience in governance. Now, if that doesn’t highlights how irrational human beings are i’m not sure what else will. Don’t make the same mistake you accuse liberals of making. Its too generic to say people who voted for Modi like him for what he has done for India, just like its too naive to say whatever Modi does is good for India. His tenure is filled with mistakes, sending jets under the cover of clouds against the advice of his generals is one such example.

Where the so called Erudite, snobbish and sophisticated Mr Rahul Gandhi made one of the most preposterous accusations which had fundamental flaws. (Go check it out. It's funny as hell). Don't get me wrong I am certainly not defending Modi's theory by making other one look stupid. What I am trying to say is that his 'Cloud' comment is blown out of proportion to belittle his vernacular background and how he is unfit to lead the country.
Secondly, how can you even have temerity to put the blame of killings in gujrat riots (I assume you are talking about Gujrat riots) on Modi's soldier. If you're from India then you would know how complex these issues have been for decades if not hundreds of years. I would have understood if you said that his actions might not have helped placate the issues in large. But saying he was the sole to blame for the enormity is bit far-fetched. (Right now I am starting to believe you know nothing about India but anyway)
I will make your life easier. If you are hell bent on comparing with global "misfits" then for me he bears more resemblance to ERDOGAN. Trump is loathed by voters at this point in time who voted for him whereas Modi has not just retained his voters but also made new ones. (You didn't even do that right M20)
Well on Godse thing. Going back to my earlier point, just like you made Modi reprehensible for Gujrat riots. Most of the Indians have now realized that if not for Gandhi's/Neherus, millions of Hindu/Muslim/Sikhs would never have been murdered and they are right to think so. I am not in anyway saying they would do anything deliberately but they certainly didn't have foresight to see the brewing problems beforehand. They also have their fair share of blame. (At this point I know you know jackshit about indian history but I would still go on..)
You said a Godse lover won against someone who was working for the betterment of society. I would also hate someone who would win vote in name of someone else and having no clue about socioeconomic issues but let me tell you something. You know who has always thrived on dynastic politics. Yes it's the Congress. I know u only know winning candidates from BjP who has no experience in politics but you would be surprised to find out how many newbies Congress fielded this time. It is not correct to say that Modi did not push reform:
    1) GST made India into a single market for goods and along with DeMo helped documentation and formalization of the economy. Those small businessmen that cane in the tax net for the first time and those that benefited from corruption around octroi/VAT were the losers.
    2) Bankruptcy law has visibly put crooked promoters on the defensive and put creditors in the driving seat. Clearly the promoters who treated bank loans as quasi equity were the losers.
    3) Direct benefit transfer bypassed many middlemen and put money directly in the hands of the beneficiaries. Obviously the middlemen were the losers.
    4) Monetary policy reform and inflation targeting were very successful in stamping out 5 years of double digit inflation
    5) Improving ease of doing business where India’s ranking improved from 142-77. In achieving this result, business process streamlining, policy streamlining, automation : all had a role to play. This means that many mid level functionaries lost the case by case decision making authority and associated bribes
    6) FDI reform - There has been major reform in what areas there can be FDI (defense), how much FDI can be brought in (insurance) and the approvals needed to bring it in (FIPB has been dismantled). Again case by case decision makers in government as well as associated fixers in private sector would be the losers.
    7) RERA- RERA has put the power in the hands of retail home owner and put an end to the unfair practices of many builders who were the obvious losers. Also the greater formalization of the economy has reduced the black money in the system and the home prices have become more affordable
    8) Financial inclusion - Jan Dhan Yojana, MUDRA yojana, Atal Pension yojana have dramatically improved financial inclusion. Unified payment interface and payment banks have cut down cost if transactions dramatically and increased digital financial transactions even fir small value transactions.
In addition there has been a dramatic improvement in pace of infrastructure development and service delivery to the poor and disenfranchised regardless of their caste, religion or language. This improves opportunity for all.

    • @cherishgp
      @cherishgp 5 років тому +1

      Akash Singh
      1) Farmer distress is due to decades of underinvestment. BJP is trying to improve it by accelerating investments in irrigation, food parks, issuing over 16 crore soil health cards to improve productivity, improving the share if farm to fork revenue a farmer gets through e-NAM. If things for farmers had gotten worse under BJP, do you think they would have got such a heavy mandate?
      2) India does not have good reporting on unemployment as it only collects numbers on those employed in formal sector. BJP is trying to correct this by developing such a report. Underemployment is a reality in India but it has by no means been aggravated under BJP. In fact the rapid infrastructure buildout, growing hospitality industry, aggressive roll out of service to rural India have created many real jobs. MUDRA loans have created income opportunities for many such as Ola/Uber drivers; delivery boys for Amazon, Flipkart, Swiggy; beauty parlors etc.
      3) There were no riots throughout Modi government 2014-19. Reporting local crimes against Muslims aggressively while observing strategic silence about crimes against Hindus, a false narrative has been sought to be built about minorities under attack. Actual trends in crime between 2009-14 and 2014-19 do not support that narrative

    • @cherishgp

I have been living here for over 12 years and still fail to gasp the psychology of something happening in a neighboring state. Also BJP is not a party confined to 'Hindi hinterlands', it has voices around the South, West, Northern hills and in North-eastern parts of India where people share a very different racial demography; again asserting my opinion that common sense does not apply while analyzing India on social or political fronts.

There is another logic for not reducing oil prices. Mindless spending has caused India to miss its fiscal deficit target again! So the only way to make the ends meet is revenue therefore oil prices didn’t fall despite crude oil prices been at historic low. I’m not suggesting running fiscal deficit is a bad thing. But what is bad is setting up a budget and then not meeting it without any good reasons. Building toilets got him vote is a speculation, may very well be a good speculation but you don’t know that for sure. How he got votes he got is even a misty for Modi himself if one want to speculate based on BJPs body language during end phase of the election.

Lady, When Trump can be pro American business, what's not correct in Modi being pro indian business ?? Why should there be a different criteria ??
Eg. Trump's policies against Iran, adversely impacts India's crude oil purchase bill ? Do you think Trump will provide India similar Trade terms or compensate India in some other way ?

How can your 100 day program be a nonpartisan program when your leader RaghuRam Rajan is a Congress stooge who wanted to be the finance minister if Congress had come to power. 🙄🙄😑😑

I am BJP supporter but removing RaghuRajun Ram was bad decision by Modi. Raghu ram as governor of RBI rightly pointed out that Demonetization would have downside effect of Indian GDP. And he was very right. India lost approximately 1% of its growth due to this madness.

    • @artman7780

@Zinyak Demonetization destroyed the hawalas and black money dealers. Sure, growth was down, but not for long and even right after demonetization, the Indian economy was still growing at a huge rate that would be the envy of the Western countries. That was the perfect time to try such an experiment- when the Indian as well as the global economy was doing very well. Demonetization would have been suicide if it was implemented during a recession.

@pseudo prophet- Raghuram Rajan was/is an academician/economist from the US who was imported by Manmohan Singh to head the The reserve bank of India. Rajan's successor urjit Patel was also an economist imported from the UK. Both were shown the door by Modi's govt.
Nothing much should be expected from such folks even if they were to get into active politics in India

Young people in India hate Rahul Gandhi. A house mate of mine used to call him Oxford fail. There is also this feeling of him being part of a lineage reminding them of a foreigner autocratic past. I am not an Indian and all I say is what I have heard Indian friends say and observe. But if dharma is what this election was about then their are dark years ahead.
