- India election 2019... The world's largest democracy is preparing for the biggest election mankind has ever seen.
Beginning in April, India will hold a month-long vote to elect its next Prime Minister.
Nearly 900 million people are expected to cast ballots, with nearly 84 million of those represented by first-time voters.
Democratic elections around the world are often marred by voter fraud and corruption, so to pull off a production the size and scale of India's election - let's just say it takes a lot of work.
So, how is it done? Aalia Adam speaks to electoral experts to find out how India's politicians fan out across the subcontinent to elect the country's next leader.

When my American team mate asked is the election a really big thing. I mentioned the winning party(popular vote) in 2014 got almost 3 times the no. Of votes Hillary Clinton (popular vote) got in 2016. And that is just under 32% of the total votes casted. Now imagine the size.
He was also seriously shocked to know it is a mandatory holiday on election day.
Whatever content you use if the map doesn't have Kashmir with india in it .

Still classified as on of the poor nations of the world, what India goes through to maintain democracy is unparalleled to what happens anywhere else in the world.
I chocked reading this. Just the sacrifices our founding fathers made me emotional.. this country was not given a chance by Churchill who felt this amount of diversity will lead to breaking up. Yes it is the biggest elections on the planet. But it has a serious flaw. Nearly 280 million eligible voters will not be able to cast their vote this elections. India is a country on move, people migrate because of jobs, business, marriage, education etc. These people staying away from their home can't cast vote because most of them will not be able to be physically present at the polling station on the election day. The need for an election which allow citizens to vote for their constituencies from their current residence is rising in India

Them showing Kashmir on the map is a big thing because in most maps of India(by western media), no even a part of Kashmir is shown.
