  • Today we're continuing on with making bales and getting them wrapped, unfortunately 2024 is proving to be a difficult year with the wet and colder weather delaying harvest and costing the farm financially, with damage to the crops amidst a challenging year with rising costs.

Hi Olly, why are you so obsessed with changing the 155r? It’s quite new, do you need a bigger tractor with more hp?

Heston bales for equestrian, but the conventional bales are also great for horse owners due to size and ease to handle 👍

We are running a Fendt 724 vario since 2014 for seeding peas, spinache and green beans. It's still holding strong to this day. Sadly this winter we had to change the vario transmission and break package after a little less than 9000 hours. It wasn't cheap. But it's something to expect when you drive heavy machinery all the time. Overall Fendt tractors are really well built and smooth. Even for a tractor from 2014 it matches the comfort from a new John Deere 6R. And a little + point: The fuel tank is massive in comparison with a John Deere 6155R or the new 6R185

For me new holland and fendt are the best. Olly it’s a good choice to buy a fendt tractor the 516 vario is an popular tractor that is really good for the price that it is I have seen some 516s and I would go over new holland bc fendt is so good we also had an old fendt but we sold it bc we didn’t use it that much sometimes 3 months we haven’t started it. And when we start it it was like nothing. I would love to see a new fendt on ur farm.

Forget the premium brands get more cheaper tractors like small 60hp tractor work your wrapper alot handler extra tractors. Less depreciation less hitching stuff off and on and never let down with break downs as.have spare machines

Yes I will pick up a small wrapping tractor unfortunately beyond the farmyard the classic tractors will struggle with the bale trailers and high speed demands, that being said that’s where a little 516 would fit in well on the farm

Come here them tractors done the work before ya.. those 60 horse power tractor are well able for work you have.. sur you have those green yokes to pull the bale trailers. A couple of ford's would be nice around the farm. No hp either. And no electronics either.. be cute man..

Haylage looks promising, plenty of people still use a sub 100hp older tractor on a wrapper in the yard, simple mechanics no depreciation etc. Having said that I am looking forward to seeing a 520 in action.
