I envy everyone who are able to just binge through this whole web series for the first time. I was one of those that had to wait years to each episode.
Skill issue
saaaame. god the hype for new episodes was so much fun though
Likewise
Have to be honest, the first time a DHMIS video was suggested to me in the olden days of UA-cam, I thought it was about the condition of people who actually get scared by a hug or even the offer, so I ignored it for years until MatPat picked it up to say something on it.
So, naturally, I did my research before seeing his theory, and loe and behold, I found my new favorite cartoon/puppet series about such deep and intricate subjects as media fake-till-you-make and health dieticians that had no idea what they were doing back in the 90s and early 2000's while I was growing up.
It was a journey I treasure, and the new show is still quite funny and somewhat intricate. You can find it here on UA-cam, but I will not name the source for their protection.
they released the episodes every 8 months
The concept of UNITS of time is manmade, but time itself is part of the universe.
I think what you were getting at was that time exists, but our current perception, and how our society requires that we structure our time is made up.
what an susceptible guy
The whole series is about cult indoctrination
You should watch the rest
There is a TV series too. It focuses more on comedy than horror but it's just as good
And lore
I really hope he takes a look at that too
I loved the web series, but the tv show has made me love this show/characters so much more. It’s longer form, and generally keeps the same quantity of creepy/horror, but spread out over the 22 minute episode. And they really stepped up the comedy and dialogue, it’s legitimately so funny.
@@JesusOfPaign Well said.
Still have no idea how to watch it. People just keep saying they use a VPN but like, how? Considering it's on British TV, not internet I assume.
The primary message for most of them is that media manipulates you to behave and believe certain things, even if they make no sense. It constantly points to how everything isn't actually happening because it's all produced. Each episode has its own theme. You're only allowed to be creative in a certain way, Death is inevitable, how cults indoctrinate you by giving you a sense of community, addiction and dependence on the internet, diet culture constantly changing, and the last episode is kind of a mix but it's sort of red guy wanting to express himself and getting rejected for being individual which wraps up what the series is about. Not following the structure of life and what you're being told is the only way to behave.
my interpretation which i just stole from game theory is about how big companies manipulate children's programing to spread propaganda emphasized in the repeated mention of oats brand cereal or just other misinfo
@@eagles5205that’s what I love about DHMIS. There’s so many different messages that you can interpret from it and their all correct, as stated by the show’s creators. So nobody is wrong.
This web series is actually genius
Not just a web series now lol
it has a tv series it just got released this month
@@flaxxei you’re telling me like I haven’t watched it. This video is about the web series, so that’s what I was commenting about
@@haha-lj5sq I'm not saying you haven't watched it I'm just saying there is a tv show of it now
it somehow still holds up even 10 years later
The factor that makes me love this series so much is the criticism it makes of social problems such as religion, cartoons, the internet, among others.
we are introduced to these "teachers" who clearly teach the protagonists in the wrong way.
There are many theories about it.
Apart from the hidden things that you will only see if you pay close attention to every detail.
hey uh i think the love one was more about love than religion, or at least comparing love to a religion, idk just some stuff stood out like
"thats love my friend" and how when yellow guy said he was hungry he was immiedetly wrong and its cause hes "lonely" as well as toward the end where they tell yellow guy what to love "no no no thats not how its done" and also forcing love into a small mold like "hes made for her, and shes made for him" "thats the way its always been" "and its perfect" "and its pure" "and its pretected with a ring" "thats the way that all love goes" you know talking about how all love goes and telling them what love is and shit ect idk my be more about religion idk shit lol
@@kishiberohan4038 it’s more like cults because they were gonna sacrifice him
@@SwooggyBruv well no they wernt gonna sacrafice him they were trying to get him to join the king, also thats not all that went into the song
@@kishiberohan4038 Yeah, I always got the impression that they were likening love to a cult. It's indoctrinated into our culture. "Everyone loves, and everyone loves this specific way! And now we all worship our king!"
@@kishiberohan4038 In my interpretation, it's about how certain religions force their heteronormative way of loving onto others. Biggest example from the song being "He's made for Her, and She's made for Him. That's the way it's always been. And it's perfect, and it's pure," Very much saying that anything that doesn't fit within this box, or these guidelines, is the "wrong" way of loving (i.e, anything that isn't straight and monogamous).
You want to know what you’re watching? You’re watching a masterpiece of *creativity* .
“Dreams are your multiverse person”
Damn why are all versions of me running from stuff
well why aren't you running away from me?
maybe ur dreams are telling u something.
start running
@@thexlaxzone9816 please stop 😭😰
dreams about running from things mean you’re afraid of something in the future or youve done something in the past and you’re afraid its going to catch up to you

You should 100% watch the tv series too. It's just as good, maybe even a little better?
The fifth episode has the most clear-cut surface level message, since it’s obviously parodying the food pyramid, and how it was made by grain companies, which is why it encourages kids to eat as much bread as possible.
Of course, that’s just the surface level thing it’s saying.
The creators said every theory about the show is right, so, there are no answers or correct lore, everything is canon and nothing is
the whole message is basically advertisers destroying creations, and teaching kids what they want, also the yellow guys dad is putting him in the show to torment him
yes and no
you are right and wrong
Wrong and right
the creators say nothing is correct or incorrect
The tv series is good too!! Recently released and I highly recommend it
If you think about it all religion is a cult they might try to dumb it down but no it’s a cult, most religions have you change your ways and have you do things so lonely there God will accept you but I rather be alone then be a part of someone else’s journey I rather find my own way
There's a theory that yellow boys father was trying to manipulate/abuse him, when his friends intervened he killed them off/took them out of that simulation.
GREEN IS NOT A CREATIVE COLOR
yellow guy: :c
Episode 6 was about dreams - for yellow guy it was sleeping dreams and for red guy it was dreams like goals. The entire kids’ show we’ve been watching was red guy’s dream, which was made possible by yellow guy’s dad, the investor, the financial side of things. But the guests/teachers brought on the show kept giving distorted lessons that pushed certain cultural beliefs or political agendas, and it left yellow guy with a twisted perception of these topics that ultimately hurt him instead of helping him. At the end of episode 4, we saw red guy walk in on a low-budget version of episode 1 and his mind was blown (literally) at the idea that maybe he didn’t need the funding, maybe he could have more control over how his dream was manifested, so he left. He tried to call yellow guy and duck in episode 5, to tell them that it didn’t have to be this way, but the message was intercepted. In this episode, yellow guy’s dad invites him back to the show, to have it run for another season maybe, but instead, red guy pulls the plug on the show and starts over, doing it his way. The set is nearly empty because they have little to no budget to work with, but each character is the color they said was their favorite in episode 1 and the date finally moves forward from june 19.
I'm glad you noticed Yellow Guy being surprised at the notebook, it's so funny for no reason lmao
The TV show on channel 4 is absolutely great. The lessons are a little less subversive but the meta plot is still super strong and the comedy as well as the general horror of the show is so much better. The extra budget was absolutely not wasted
I would recommend watching several theory videos on this series. They can all help you notice details you never noticed, and help you form your own theory, as, as the creators have said, “All theories are correct”.
YESSSS HOLY SHIT! You keep hopping on the best stuff. I really hope you continue into the tv show! It’s killer and it has wayyy more story stuff which I think will be even more fun since you like to theorize with things you watch.
Oh yeah scoot! You should react to the show if you are still looking for a new one to react to!
Episode 3 is about overly religious people who force others how to live and especially how to love. I don't think it's really about cults since DHMIS has always touched on issues that everyone has dealt with.
It was trying to make the point that all religions are cults, though there were also other points being made.
i love how many people are getting more into DHMIS lately! as great as the tv series is, nothing beats the OG web shorts for me-- the atmosphere is so perfectly dreadful
really digging these reaction videos, i like your sense of humor and bewildered commentary about the chaos on the screen 😂
Yess the old ones are creepier in a way
Make sure to watch the tv series after this!
hopefully you can react to the tv series! it is such a good watch
You should watch Film Theory’s video on it decoding and explaining everything!! Everyone who knows DHMIS has watched it lol
I would never encourage you to watch this I watched it about four years ago on an accident because I thought it was like Sesame Street but no it wasn’t and I didn’t sleep the rest of that week😂😂
These are the messages of the episodes
1: going insane
2: fast aging
3: cults
4: overthinking
5: psychos
6: literally everything else
Also the lamp and the universe guys sound drunk
Thank s
26:25 that wonderpets reference out of nowhere 😭
¡Se viene lo bueno!
¡Reacciona al tv show, por favor!✨
oh man i was so excited to see this pop up on my feed lmao
the tv show is awesome imo, with the length its able to lean more into the humorous aspects whilst still eventually devolving into chaos
At one moment you asked "Is there a meaning to all this?" The answer is no. At least that's what the authors said. But they said this as a reaction to Matpat's theory videos that the internet was obsessing over at the time.
In hindsight, this show, to me, means to illustrate how children's tv content can go astray, especially in times of education decline among the producers of such tv content, how poor general culture can turn into a vicious cycle of stupidity across generations.
At 11:50 you said SpongeBob ruined flies for you wdym? 😂 you liked flies b4!?
Idk if you noticed but at the end of #6 they were all their favourite colours they mentioned in #1
Bro first video I’ve watched of yours and I’m not gonna lie I’m subscribing immediately
What is this coincidence I just finished watching the tv series 💀
Like others have said, yeah you should do a reaction to film theory's take on it, I think those 2 episodes explain it very nicely
There’s a film theory about this show. MatPat explains it pretty well
Religions and cults are the same thing. "Cult" is just a pejorative word we use to refer to religions that aren't adopted by a large number of people and/or not generally accepted. To a very religious person, a cult is just any religion that isn't the one they follow.
And besides, that episode isn't just about cults in general, it's pretty clear it's about the Catholic Church.
a lot of cult stuff is separation from loved ones friends or family and being like "we're the only ones that understand you" sorta. thats really vague and not nearly as in depth but it very much can be a gradual over time thing like how its shown in the episode where it starts off seeming fine then gets weirder a little bit more at a time and then next thing you know youre knee deep in it
The TV series don't hug me I'm scared is less about the horror but its definitely present in each episode, some more than others, and also they don't focus on the songs either. The songs they do have are pretty good tho.
Gel: “I KNOW ABOUT GEL! ASK ME ABOUT GEL!”
"Is this it??"
The credits : "This is it"
He should definitely react to the TV series on UA-cam, it's more of a story than the web series.
I'm not sure about "more" of a story, but it is definitely more forward in what the story is.
The tv series is sooo good I highly recommend it ❤
The way we think of time is man made but it is something that does exist outside of the way we understand and experience it.
If you want to know the message in this then you should watch Film Theory don't hug me I'm scared
Yessss
HOLY SHIT
FILM THEORY ISNT ALWAYS CORRECT
tHE AUTHORS SAY THERES NO TRUE ANSWER
ITS ALL BASED ON WHAT ANYONE THINKS
dONT ALWAYS THINK MATPAT IS CORRECT CAUSE HS IS POPULAR
Yo Gabba Gabba, directed by David Lynch and Stephen King?
I believe this show was about growing up. Each episode they were tought what to think about a subject. The first one to leave was later seen living adulthood. and the last one most likely stayed behind and alone because as the last episode implies, his father was keeping him. When the plug is pulled, we can see three friends very similar to the previous ones, possibly their children, about to experience it all too.
Check the Film Theory Channel he'll explain what's what
Oh damn! Please check out the TV show!!! It's very good!!!
Now you gotta watch the Film Theory on it
Yessss
Es raro ver como se veían los personajes comparado con la segunda temporada
También la voz de Duck pasa de ser Un Auto-tune a ser un actor de voz
@@yusai_51 he still has a little bit auto tune
i think the Love episode is more about religion in general, because all religions have their own ideals of how things like relationships should/shouldn't be
I remember watching this at 10 years old...
I loved it.
Same
You should react to Film Theory's video about decoding dhmis, there's a huge main story that you can't get from watching it on a surface level, but it makes the show make more sense. (Also it's 2 parts)
Measuring Time is a man-made concept but time is like., the opposite of space i think maybe perhaps
Episode 3 was definitely about religion. The "king" being god they worship, changing your name like in many religions like catholicism, the ring and having a "special one" is marriage which they specify is one man and one woman and ONLY that forever, the robes they all wore. What was really interesting was how yellow guy was saying he loved all these things like the other people did but they were like no no you can't love that you have to love your "special one"
Fits in with the overarching theme of the web series, which is kids being taught about something and then being told "No, don't do it that way". Happens in episodes 1, 3 and 5, and possibly more subtly in the others.
Of course your phones listen to you and occasionally look through your cameras. You agreed to it though, those billion word terms and conditions you never read say so.
NAH, BRO DID NOT JUST CALL RED GUY, "DEPRESSED KNUCKLES"-
I think the computer one is actually about how we could do lots of crazy things with computers, but we acutally get distracted by games and other less useful things like digital style and end up wasting a bunch of time.
damn just stumbled on this gem of a show. scary. That episode was for sure about Religion.
Episode 3, I'd say is more about religion (or focused heteronormativity) than cults, in my opinion.
The channel Film Theory did a couple videos on this series that break down the meanings really well.
HOLY SHIT
FILM THEORY ISNT ALWAYS CORRECT
tHE AUTHORS SAY THERES NO TRUE ANSWER
ITS ALL BASED ON WHAT ANYONE THINKS
dONT ALWAYS THINK MATPAT IS CORRECT CAUSE HS IS POPULAR
@@AAHumann_ Chill out.
I feel that film theory explains what happens in the web series pretty well
Not really
the creators say theres no true answer. its all up to the fans, 1 idea gets popular, thats popular, another does, thats popular. theres no answer
Yeah it's a fun theory
31:00: So apparently, this is actually a flashback and he was pitching the show to everyone. Then Yellow Guy's dad, Roy, had approached him and offered to help sponsor the show.
by the way, there is no story in "don't hug me, I'm scared" as the creators believed it would be hypocritical to show wanting people to be creative, but then limit the show to a one specific story. they said that they have seen many theories about the show, and they are all correct. there is no one answer. even if you said that the show was a toothpaste advertisement, you wouldn't be "wrong"
Cults are fully real and are everywhere
If dreams are what my multiverse is doing, I’ve committed so many crimes in other worlds. I’m always getting arrested
Time is absolutely not a man-made thing. We invented the definition of the word, and all words for that matter, but time is a thing that would still exist if we didn't, and all the other animals that don't understand the concept of time like we do would still experience it all the same.
Watch the film theory on this for some more clarity
Watch film theory’s theory about it it will explain everything my guy
So Scoot, you think you might react to the DHMIS TV Show?
The message for the love one is how religion distorts love. Ie how love can only be between man and women and how they control your life. So not just a bout cult
Time isn't man made. It factually exists. It's the significance in any single moment in time that's man made.
The first season is about unplugging from your childhood
I howled with laughter at the end of six “WHAT IS THIS?!”
Hey Scoot! It's me, Dark! Remember, that one guy who pushed a kid off a slide? I'm here at 0:08 too, I just wanted to say sorry I couldn't catch you watching it live, I had to go visit my mom and dad. I was here for the Google Forms and the beginning of DHMIS though, once again sorry I couldn't make it.
24:41 WHY IS REDS HEAD IN THE MICROWAVE, + WHEN IT FALLS U SEE REDS LEGS/BODY
I was there live. love the video
I love the dark room vibe u got going scoot with the purple lights
No way
Time as a measurement is man made, but it is a thing that has always existed
I love how the whole thing comes together to be a metaphor for creating a kid's show. The red guy wanted to make a show, but had to get a producer to afford it. The dad paid for it, but forced his son in as a character, did rewrites behind the creator's back (the computer talking instead of the globe taking red guy by surprise), and forcing a very special religious episode. The religious song literally follows love bombing cult recruiting tactics. Later red guy realizes that computers will let him make the show on his own without the producer and it literally blows his mind. The songs and writing takes a nosedive when red guy leaves, and crow leaves to join red guy resulting in them having to write him off the show. So they then make their own independent show where the characters are color swapped to make them legally distinct.
Into their favorite colors.
You should watch film theory’s video about this
that multiverse theory literally came from doctor strange ahhahaha
You gotta watch the film theory videos on it too, the first two at least
If you want a deeper look at this show, I would suggest watching MatPat’a Film Theories on this! Him and his team did a good job of deciphering the lore it has.
theres no lore, well, the creators say there is any isnt, its all based on what some people think, you think that its all a dream, thats correct, you think its all a time loop, thats correct, their actually condiments, correct
