This is probably one of the most optimistic symphonies which Beethoven had ever composed. Thanks for sharing this neglected and underrated masterpiece.
Pretty sure he's not the only one who could have done it. Beethoven... you know, the man who wrote the entire symphonies all by himself... could have done it for piano :)
I wish this symphony wasnt so overshadowed by beethoven's others. Because while it may not surpass the 9th (because nothing can, lets be real), its still such an amazing masterpiece that if it was written by any lesser composer it would instantly be their greatest work.
I agree - it is often overshadowed. But composers have recognised its brilliance - e.g. Schubert so admired this symphony he copied out the entire score for his study, and it has many structural elements ultimately used in his own Great C-Major symphony. Schubert particularly admired how Beethoven allowed the symphony to build up over all 4 movements, withholding the "fff" until the final coda of the final movement.
Wow - I almost like this better than the orchestra version- the opening is really intriguing! I had to remind myself to breathe after that ending. It's really like discovering this symphony for the first time. Thanks Beethoven, thanks Liszt and thanks Cyprien!
The tremolos. which represent the susteaing sound of the woodwind, can be played with the right hand,in a quasi-hammerless tone (in PPP) without playing the heading notes which overlap with the melody tones (must be accentuated) This however requires an excellent touch.
This pianist is obviously excellent-but I wish they would just take the finale at a slower and more consistent tempo than at this faster tempo where the pianist needs to slow down during more difficult sections. See 27:45
Repent and trust in Jesus. We deserve Hell for our sin. Lying, lusting, etc, but God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross and ride from the grave to free us from sin. If you repent and trust in him youll be saved. Romans 3:23 John 3:16

liszt are the one who can play like a whole orchestra with two bare hands

@@adobeuser9673 Beethoven actually played the Eroica symphony for his friends because he was proud of it.

@@schubertuk Let's not forget about Mahler quoting it almost verbatim in the beginning of his first.
@@SpaghettiToaster very good point!!😀
Четвёртая лучше девятой с хором. Моё мнение.
It’s one of my favourite symphonies full stop.
8:18 ingenious modulation from B major to Bb major.
It's an augmented 6th progression which has its origins in renaissance music, and became a distinctive part of the classical and romantic styles.
Beethoven is infinite. Thanks Liszt and this recording

Bravo, Katsaris & Liszt!
Bravo to you aswell! You for created the symphony in the first place
Impressionante la disinvoltura con la quale Cyprien Katsaris affronta quest'arduo repertorio ! Che chiarezza d'eloquio ! Molto bravo !
Definitely overshadowed by his other ones
Nice performance!
Amazing playing Bravo
Can you ask UA-cam to put ads before your videos?

Because he’s deviating from the score, by playing a much harder octave scale run with his right hand.
