    I use acrylic to Bob Ross and it is a challenge indeed. I'll switch to oils eventually. I just don't want the mess. This is beautiful Jason. Good job.

    I adore these videos Jason. Not only are you really funny but you give me so many ideas. I have always been a bit of a pencil drawer but not a painter but you are totally getting me into trying paint. I love what you do here with this acrylic. Thanks.

    Even I tried doing in acrylics when you did with oils :-p Didn't get the same results..Acrylics dry out so quickly making it tough to get the desired shades with the background color..But I still prefer acrylics than oils :) Thank you so much Jason for this one ! :) Hope to see more in acrylics :)

    i use acrylics mostly, but on days like today when its over 42 degrees celcius, i like to use my water-based oil paints.
    no nasty chemicals, washes out in water and far easier to blend on these hot days!~

    You're the new Bob Ross.

  • @Dennissiple
    @Dennissiple 9 років тому

    I found it very Interesting how differently the acrylics behave from Bob's heavy bodied oils. I guess you would have had to use a gel medium or the like to achieve the same consistency. Sometimes the paint was too thin to use a knife, yet it gobbed up on your liner brush when you wanted to make grasses and twigs in the bushes. And one of the nice things about acrylics is that you can paint over it in a half an hour if you don't like what you've done. lol

    Are the "Interactive" acrylics you're using similar to the "Open" acrylics by Golden Paints? If not, can you describe the difference. For those that don't know, "Interactive Acrylics" and "Open Acrylics are acrylic paints that take longer to dry than standard acrylics. They're suppose to simulate oil paints but without the nasty smell.

    • @JasonBowen
      @JasonBowen  9 років тому

      I've never used golden open acrylics so I'm not sure sorry. I'm assuming they just dry slowly also.

    • @HGAviator
      @HGAviator 9 років тому

      Yes. They can take a few hours to a few days to dry, depending on conditions. They'll stay wet for weeks if kept in a stay wet palette.

    I hate to be so critical, but I turned up the volume on everything and most of the time I couldn't hear or understand exactly what you were saying. I think speaking up with clear and articulative voice would be very helpful. That being said, I do like your approach.

    Your painting is beautiful but it gets old with you giggling after you say something. It is very distracting. However you do have a great talent for painting.

  • @colddrakequeen

    I hate having to say this, but, that really white bush threw the mountains so far back the eye doesn't rest on them. And the moon, it disappears. It almost looks like an armature photographer who wanted a picture of the moon on snow but left the flash on. Now don't feel like I'm trashing the video. Correction is not rejection. I've been trying to years to link Bob Ross and acrylics, and you have given me a few tips I can use. Normally I use his techniques with a very soft hand as to not blend colours. And now I might not be so afraid just by changing tools. That being said. I would not have signed that painting. If for some reason decades after my death I became famous, (as most painters do) I wouldn't want such a blunder to my name. Don't feel pressured to sign something just because you have made a video. Just explain that you don't like it and you aren't going to sign it. Intelligent viewers will understand your reasoning. Oh dear now I feel unpleasant, maybe you loved it. I can't say. But the words needed saying anyway.
    In closing, I would like to see how you might tackle watercolours (tube, disk and pencil).

    • @JasonBowen
      @JasonBowen  9 років тому +3

      Interesting point, I would say when you do yours don't do bright bushes, I wanted them to stand out so the viewer could see what I was doing so I wanted them brighter than what was behind. Also these video are to help unleash creativity, there not made with an exact science in mind. If I died and got famous (which I doubt) I wouldn't care if they found my old paintings everyone needs to start somewhere, plus I'd spend years destroying all the bad drawings and paintings I've done haha
