This montage of time-lapse photography from the International Space Station is collected from many taken in Expeditions 29, 30 and 31.
The previous sequence, 'All Alone In The Night' ( • All Alone in the Night... ), highlighted night sequences and spectacular aurora light shows and intended to give a feeling of flying through space.
The goal with this sequence was to bring a bit more attention to the station itself, including the humans aboard it, particularly Don Pettit (appearing in the final shot) who took many of the sequences in this montage.

I'm a 68 year old woman and every time I see something like this I find myself totally in awe. We grew up with the space program. Thank you for your great courage. God bless you.
MJ Canfield So you're 70 now?
MJ Canfield This comment gave me goosebumps
Thank you MJ it is awesome inspiring. I think of my Nan who was born in Dundee She died at 98 from a flu. However I think further that how many technological break thoughts she must have seen in her lifetime. Just a few example off the top of my head include global aviation, launching people into outer space, medical advances that provide cures for dysentery, cholera and others, increased awareness of the need to treat all peoples with respect and to acknowledge that dignity is a Universal right not applicable to just some but to all. If you google the United Nations Charter of Human Rights , on which is based Australias Commonwealth Law, you will see many examples of the need to treat all peoples equally. Article 26 states that education is not a right of priveleged few but should be made available to all. This strikes a cordant note for me as I am a university lecturer and tutor, who doesn't really care about administrative policy, rather what is important to me is to provide quality education to all. Have a great day and keep in touch
Cheers

Carrying on the tradition of 1 comment a year, i find that amazing that you are able to witness this today
@@katholikostroll almost one year later...
I wonder if it's even possible to ever get bored looking out that window at the entire earth below you. I could stare at that all day.
All day. Not all 10 years
Inspiring, poetic, humbling, exhilarating and if this doesn't ignite your soul.... you don't have one.
+rhumbline Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
It’s faked tho so it doesn’t Ignite my soul😂😂
@@DavidPetersonAUYou're extraordinarily talented. Love this and your race to the stars video on Human Legacy, by Ivan Torrent (I'm a bit of an airhead, so I'm missing the title right now).
@chattywalrus8485 Thanks!
The sheer beauty of our home world is humbling and yet the tragedy of what we are doing to it and to each other is a sad reminder of how far we need to go. Perhaps this little video will be like the picture of the Earth taken from Apollo 8 - in 1968 ... and force us to reexamine ourselves, our priorities, our self importance and our vanity. Thank you David.
I still keep coming back to this one. Thanks :)
Years later and I still come back to watch this. This will never stop being one of my favorites David! Thank you for making this!
You're welcome!
Still here for another viewing :)
One world, one people, one experience... with the ISS we have become the stars in our own eyes! David Peterson, thank you for this most beautiful video, every person on Earth should see this to give hope and perspective! Peace and love to all!!!!
Always a pleasure to view the Earth from a majestic place high up in orbit. Looks like a sapphire jewel set against the black velvet of space, and with such clarity we can only appreciate. Nice music to accompany the video too. It kind of makes us want to explore more of what's out there and, at the same time, realize how precious our planet really is. We need to look after it for future generations who no doubt will soon be able to make these journeys more easily, and sooner than we think.
Enjoy.
Made it onto NASA's wall :)
Wow. I could watch this all day
The wonderful thing is this shows just how beautiful the Earth and space truly are, and how fragile our planet is. Thank you for sharing these videos from the ISS. And the image of Comet Lovejoy was breathtaking!
Looking at all that beauty I can't believe we
This demonstrates pure beauty of the world thanks for sharing
Another Two Steps from Hell fan . . . great music choice for the video.
My favorite vid on all of UA-cam - good vibes guaranteed, everytime!
wonderful timelapse from space
How the hell are you verified?
@@mrbabbledingThere are other ways of getting verified on YT than just hitting 100k subs…
Any video from the ISS is worth watching...again....again...and again. They never get old.
Yes. It is incredible to see what they see from up there. Seeing the Earth and Sky is absolutely breathtaking from up there. ~
Hey they just passed by my house!
they passed by the earth
PM7Gaming that's the point. they passed by everyone and everything that was alive when this was filmed.
Ha ha ha!!!

Amazing feeling of watching our Blue marble
I finally have a 4k Screen! Time to watch this how it was meant to be watched!
Awesome 😊 I actually haven't even seen it in 4K!
A testament to the beauty of the universe, and to Human curiosity and perseverance which propels us to the moon, the planets, and the stars beyond.
the flat earthers need to make a crowdfunded exploration trip with 2 ships going around Antarctica, each in opposite direction. Film it. Another way is to fly over it and film it. Show me that endless ice wall.
+Martin Tõnumaa One of them contacted me once, serious about doing an expedition and he wanted to know if I'd come with him. That was about 10 years ago, nobody's been yet lol?
Martin Tõnumaa They can't because the penguins guard the wall and they will die 😂
No but they put a camera with a normal lens on a balloon and it clearly shows a flat plane. No curvature. No ball. Just flat..
So, here is some footage taken in 1959 - long before computers are capable of CGI - from about 100 km altitude, and you can clearly see the curve:
ua-cam.com/video/-O99IH9kbPw/v-deo.html
The horizon crosses the full frame without bending, meaning the lens is not a wide angle.
How that helps.
there are other means to achieve the desired effects besides cgi. scale models etc. plus the film looks doctored. and we need to look at footage that is much longer to get the whole picture before making any defined conclusions.
Oh wow, this is stunning. Thank you so much for recommending this to me. You captured so many great images from your perspective. It reminds me of when you're flying to Earth from a distant galaxy, circling around it to look for your landing spot before deciding where to land.
Totally wicked David, thank you for sharing this great timelapse
It is absolutely incredible to see from the ISS what they see. . I always think of the guys up there and wonder how they are living on a daily basis. I was called out of the house a couple months ago by my brother and he pointed up to the sky and said there's the ISS. I had never seen it before... it went right across the night sky. It was awesome to see. I could watch this video all day, too, like someone else said earlier.
That final shot of Don Pettit in his capsule was mind blowing. What a view he has up there!! And he got some beautiful shots. I love the night ones showing all the lights in the world and the stars. What a beautiful video. Thanks for sharing and thanks to Don for the incredible shots!! Now I am going to go watch it again!
One could only dream to see God's creation with his or her's own two eyes! What a beautiful gift that must be.
This time lapse video absolutely outstanding & gorgeous!!
Let's go to fly & enjoy of the view of our Magical &
Amazing Earth!!!
Thank you ISS & NASA for a Fantastic gift!
I cannot give enough likes for this...
so good to read comments from people with a similar mindset of the beauty and underlying respect for the science with implications for the inevitable future
I wish they were my photos - I just downloaded then from NASA... I don't know the details, but if you were to look up the photos from the EOL site using the sequence number in the description of this video, it might have that detail.
Beautiful editing and music choice. Thank you for creating this.
Silver Money .999 There is no denying that the climate of planet Earth is changing.
***** I like to think I'm slightly better than an automatic slider, but thanks 😊 The NASA archives are simply listed chronologically, so the interesting sequences are often split by other random images.
***** Yeah, I actually wrote some scripts to download hundreds of thousands of thumbnails scanned through them locally. Was a lot faster.
***** Yeah, it did occur to me, but no issues so far. They have redesigned the site since then however, so we'll see what happens next time...
For my Friend and his Grandson - they would love this. Thx for sharing...
It´s all a matter of perspective. Absolutely stunning!
adri1430 stunning CGI😂😂
@@RRmedia23 “CGI” you are pathetic.

@@RRmedia23 bruh it's a timelapse from a spacestation what do you expect
Beautiful, both the footage and camera work but also the world we live in. We should be thankful for mother earth.
Just absolutely stunning.
This is a monumental work. I never thought 2:27 mins could be so powerful. What a wonderful world we live on.
If I was up there, with nothing to do I would just sit by one of those windows and listen to two steps from hell
two steps from hell? but u r way up in the space
Absolutely fantastic. I love how you synchronised video with audio. Two steps from hell as a background? You're my man. Thanks.
+Matt Hare Thanks! Did you check out "All Alone In The Night" in my channel? More Two Steps goodness 😉
I surely will check it out. You should absolutely do something like that to "Victory". My favourite TSFH track! Cheers
+Matt Hare Good track also!
Amazing, thanks for sharing
For a moment I felt I was watching the film Gravity...Hats off to to the creative team for compilation of such a wonderful time-lapse
This video has more plot and story than "Gravity".
This is just incredible, David!
Sometimes i go back to revisit this video, how beautiful it is, one of my favorites. More because the author used real NASA photos from the ISS. Can't wait for more videos!
There were no borders.... Just one world.
Simply beautiful. Reminds me of "Live from Space" show by Channel 4.
The astronaut said "look how thin the ozone layer is, and yet it is what makes life possible on this beautiful planet. we all should know that. we all should play our part."
Absolutely awesome and Amazing mind blowing view that shows Us how Small We are in the Great Scheme of Things thank you for your beautiful post 👀 💜 👍 👀
This was the first video I watched on my new 4K display and I was brought to tears. The music choice was fantastic! My sister is a programmer on the ISS and I live and was raised just blocks away from NASA and JSC. The space program has a very special place in my heart. Too bad our policy makers do not feel the same way!
So Beautiful
How glorious and beautiful our planet and our universe is, We haven't even scratched the surface of a seemingly infinitely deep ocean nothing to do but look foward to our future exploring the Universe.
This time lapse is better than the one showing the auroras. It's just beautiful.
Notice the thin, fragile band of atmosphere that keeps us all alive. Every climate change non-believer and "science hater" in the world should be forced to watch this time lapse once a week. Then maybe they'll realize how precarious our existence really is and just perhaps will think that we should start acting like responsible stewards of our little blue lifeboat.
Beautiful planet & beautiful music, I hope we get to enjoy these two things for a long time to come.
i fucking cried.
Every once in a while I watch this video again. The most beautiful space vid I have seen yet. Perfect editing. Perfect music. Pure Bliss. Thanks !
This is beautiful. I want to reach there and help reach farther an an engineer..but fuuuck I just failed one of my exams :"( NOOO!! I'll get there one day!
I've watched this a few times and it's breathe taking every time.
Totally Awesome..

Thank you for sharing a perspective of the magnitude of our minor standing in this beautiful place. Incredible. Thank you again.
The fact that they are going to deorbit this beauty in the 2020’s makes me wanna cry...
Programming Carrot now you have the deep space gateway to look forward to
It's been postponed to 2024!!!
its 2020 now.. when will it happen 😫
katt berckley no it’s 2028 and before then they plan to sell it to a private company
Well because nasa has planned for new space station at moon, called lunar gateway, so iss simply not reliable anymore
I just wish we can finally some day look through a window and take the view of the Earth for granted the same way now on a plane. Though, I know I won't. But if my children will have that luxury, then it only means we have found and saw places even more wonderful and inspiring.

Funny joke
Honestly, It does look fake, not even trolling and im not a flat earther either
Nothing but fake!🌏🔫

That's correct. If there *were* flickering lights and cloud movement that would actually indicate it is fake, due to the altitude and speed of the ISS. I did the math here:

At times like this I really appreciate our high speed EPB connection (100mbps) in Chattanooga, TN (The Gig City) home of the USA's fastest internet! The ISS is an engineering masterpiece that is a legacy of a remarkable space machine that is now a museum artifact. I hope the low earth orbit outpost far exceeds its design life because where the next generation space station will come from no one knows.
I could watch this all day
This is just beautiful. Hope one day I'll get the chance to experience that.
