DUDE! THANK YOU! One OK Rock has been my band since forever! I'd definitely recommend either The Beginning or Clock Strikes next. amazing in the studio, amazing live!
You picked out that they want the message to 'be yourself'. You're right! Now imagine growing up in a country like Japan where you have high expectations to be someone you might not wanna be, and you aren't given much support or choice to follow what YOU yourself want. This song is really powerful especially knowing Taka's history and expectations of following society norms in Japan... His parents were musicians too and did not want him to pursue it because they knew how difficult it would be. Taka went through a lot to get where he is today, so I feel this song really speaks out to the new generation of young japanese people trying to figure out themselves. In America, we are taught from young that individualism is important and to stand up for what we believe in, but in Japan and most of Asia you are taught to follow the structure set for you that everyone else follows. That's why I LOVE this song and the message he is giving to youth all over the world. I have been following him since his J-Pop days in the boyband NEWS and when ONE OK ROCK originally formed. I watched him grow up along with myself (we're similar age) and now I'm happy to see he's finally found himself and is a positive influence on the new generation. Great reaction vid btw!
AHHHH ANOTHER ONE OK ROCK REACTION FROM ONE OF MY FAVORITE UA-cam MUSIC REACTORS….AHHHH. Great reaction, thanks for taking the time to react and analyze one of my favorite songs from my favorite Jrock band!
Taka’s always had a powerful, not meaning loud, voice. I’ve been listening to One OK Rock since they first started and the whole band just keeps getting better and better. “Mighty Long Fall” and “Renegades” are really good songs too. (^~^) 💕🦋
One OK Rock is AMAZING live. Taka has one of the best voices in the business (and a very good songwriter - he writes most of their songs). Their concerts, in huge stadiums in Japan, are consistently sold out. But true professionals, they perform just as good in small venues when they come to America. I wish they can get the kind of attendance that K-pop group BTS gets whenever they perform in the United States. They were supposed to do a US tour with Linkin Park before Chester passed. That would have given a massive boost to their popularity.
You said the video seems a little over produced and I'm not sure exactly what part of it makes you say that, but this is actually what they sound like live. They're usually pretty flawless. Taka was actually a bit sick that day which is why he sounds raspier than usual, but as you mention, it gives the song more feelings of passion and rawness. If you want to hear more of the instruments, check out "NO SCARED" or "Deeper Deeper" at Yokohama Stadium. Tomoya's Drum Ver. of "Taking Off" is excellent too if you want to focus on the drummer. I recommend you listen to "Mighty Long Fall" at 35xxxv Japan Tour (Saitama Super Arena) or "The Beginning" at Eye of the Storm Japan Tour (Saitama Super Arena). Please do put up your video of your first reaction to them! 😊
I think the video could definitely be considered over produced compared to live performances by other artists. Not in terms of the music because they do sound great live, but they obviously produced the making of this video from cameras to lighting and direction. I don't think it's throwing shade so much as facts haha
@@panpacifice Well it's professionally shot and mixed, sure, but it's not like they edited the audio to make the band sound differently than what they actually sound like on stage. This was for a home release of the concert and I don't think anyone would buy it if it looked like a fan cam, you know? So it's definitely produced bit I don't think I would say it's "over" produced, which makes it sound bad (though I know that's not what was meant when it was said).
@@crosswithyou "Not in terms of the music" is what I said, right? But we've all seen live performances, they don't sound like a music video, the sound warps in a big space, there's background noise around us, the speakers are placed at set locations. Just because they produced the music so that it sounded consistent for the video doesn't mean they're not already amazing.
I saw them live with my little brother once, they are one of his favorites, so I took him for his 18th birthday! It was amazing, and I definitely recommend their other songs.
The question now is do i want you to react to this song again, or do i ask for another song entirely. Decisions decisions 😅 i'm glad you liked it! I've seen them live and i kiiinda get what you're saying about it being kinda over produced, since they are absolutely phenomenal live. Their live performance of "Take Me to the Top" is more on instrument based, plus vocal and scream. Try to check it out if you want. Ending story and Jibun rock are also great live performance. OOR music is more on empowering youth, hope and inspiration. Their lyrics are really great in inspiring youth and people in general. Taka is also the greatest vocalist that I've ever heard when it comes to live. He is great live than studio one.
I'm typically not into boy bands but this guys vocals are really good and carry the song. Has an anthem rock quality. Something I would play while doing stuff around the house.
This is NOT a boy band. They are a rock band not an idol group. Their concerts are amazing and as you can see the crowds are huge! An outdoor concert they did at Nagisan, Japan had 110,00 people attend!

I've seen them live... four times? They are one of the *best* live musicians I have ever seen! My friend says they're in her top three. She says the best live performer she's ever seen is Miyavi, and his next US show is in September and I can't wait to see what she means!
