Fyi in this concert taka (vocalist) was sick, and the concert was held by 45 minutes due to his condition.. and this was their last song (encore) after 20+ songs that they played for 2 hours.. that's why you heard some cracks on his voice

And despite all these, the whole live is an amazing performance. Sometimes, Taka doesn't seem to be human. Just in awe about this band.
Thank you for those important details.

I’m a metal head, but just discovered this band last year, and really enjoy them. I have most of their albums now.
I’m over 50, and this song was supposedly written for the youth of Japan, but the message still resonates with me.
    Absolute killer performance and video

Super cool to hear that. I discovered the band through this song when I was 18 and i reallyconnected to them through it.
Nice to hear that their messages also resonate with other generations :D

We Are was written in response to news that came out in Japan (pre-pandemic) that the youth of Japan was very depressed and unsure of their future.
The message of We Are is to tell them they are not alone, they should be themselves and believe in themselves, and never lose hope.
It pretty much became that age group's anthem.

    • @OneOkRockSamurai

wait so what was the issue in japan pre pandemic?

    • @dan.dandan
      @dan.dandan 26 днів тому

@@OneOkRockSamurai if I remember correctly, back in 2016 Japan lowered the voting age to 18 (previously 20) and this generated a lot of criticism and judgment towards that specific demographic.
that same year a new festival called 18Fes was brought up were 1k teenagers ranging from 17 to 19 could sing in a choir-like arrangement with the invited artist/s of that year.
OOK was the first artist to be invited to perform along them and they choose We Are to encourage the youth, they also watched thousands of videos and personally chose the 1k candidates for that year.
this performance happened a little before Ambitions was released so it was We Are debut on the stage. you can look up the performance and a little documentary they did about it: 18Fes NHK One Ok Rock We Are on NHK's yt channel :)

I've managed to catch their concert twice. They are AMAZING live. And you're right, Taka is not only an amazing vocalist, he's a great front man & performer & has incredible amount of stamina it's crazy. All the members have great showmanship tbh.
I personally am not sure what to recommend for you guys to react to because they have an amazing discography. Their latest album Luxury Disease is a banger and is more on the old school pop rock kinda genre. Each of their 10 albums released so far has a different concept/sound so they have a variety of rock sounds to choose from.
Hope you guys will react to more ONE OK ROCK

Taka is easily among the best Rock frontman of this generation. And I really mean that "Best", as he checks all possible boxes - Vocal range & control, distinctive tone, ability to cross genres, screams/fries, multiple language proficiency. Amazing stage presence and crowd control with years of experience doing stadium concerts with capacities above 110,000+.
Taka is also the band's main lyricist and composer. He's a decent looking dude too so there's that haha.
Also if you look at the amount of collabs they've done, from Linkin Park, Journey, All time low, Simple Plan, Avril Lavigne, Against the current to the likes of Ed Sheeran, you bet this guy knows how to make connections and market their music well.
In many of their interviews, they've spoken about how they had to forge their own path globally as most Japanese labels weren't interested in doing so, esp. back then.
Today, they're among the most popular Japanese artist on youtube and spotify by a huge margin.
From the band that practised at 1 in the morning to save money, they've come a long fking way.

And a GREAT songwriter. Taka writes their songs mostly. I saw One OK Rock in Minneapolis last year. The band was fantastic!!! They are that good live. Taka’s voice was too powerful for that small venue at the Fillmore. They deserve to headline one of the large music festivals in America. But notice how engaged the Japanese audience is? No cell phones recording the performance. They’re there and joining in. You should react to the live concert version. Of Take What You Want. There is a dramatic pause in the song that can only happen in Japan where the audience is respectful enough to give him silence.

I love One OK Rock because their lyrics are very positive and you can live your life following them. Taka's voice is very emotional and his range is unreal. Hope you can react to more of their music especially in the lives because they are the best in the lives. Their latest album Luxury Disease is a masterpiece. Some of the music is reminiscent of Queen and very good. I would suggest Deeper Deeper as a song to react to.

Some recommendations to go for next are:
    - clock strikes
    - cry out
    - take what you want
    - i was king (orchestra version)
    - deeper deeper
    - others (believe me all their songs are over the top)
If you confused which version of videos to cover, just check by rank the no. Of views... You will know which one is the best 😁

They hand out the light bracelets when you enter the stadium (and collect them back when you leave). It's a pretty amazing thing. I saw them at Tokyo Dome back in April and it was quite an experience. I was sitting in the left field bleachers so I couldn't really see much but having a view out over the crowd was still really cool. Shows in Japan are great. No cellphones allowed and everyone is just 100% into the show.

However, my personal favorites were from their 35xxxv and Jinsei x Boku albums. My favorite live show from them is well documented and i wish i couldve gone lol but theres a lot of videos from it so if you want to see some of that, look up their performances of Mighty Long Fall , Clock Strikes or Deeper Deeper at Yokohama Stadium

If you're into punk, I'd suggest their song The Beginning, from the 2020 eye of the storm concert. If you're into slightly harder stuff, I'd suggest Mighty Long Fall (2014 Yokohama) or Deeper Deeper (2014 Yokohama).

As far as I know,"We are" is a cheer up song made for a "18th years old festival" - there is a specifical video, very emotional, when they sing with those youngsters... just amazing. Also their last album, "Luxury disease", launched in 2022, has some masterpieces. Thanks for this reaction. Hugs from Brasil!

Great band. Taka has a great voice, I follow tomoya on his UA-cam channel. If I can advise, react to morissette Amon, has an unreal voice, live seems to sing in the recording room. 😉
