TDR is a shining example of how a plug-in company should operate. A great offering of free tools, with innovative speed and detail oriented paid tools for creators and professionals. All offered at a fair price...with a no hassle licensing system. All business, no hype. 👍👌
I'm thinking the same thing. I've used Dan W's 1/3 Octave MS settings for Span for years and now I suppose I'll be using his suggestions for Prism. Especially as 1. You can use it on multiple sources/channels 2. Import references 3. It is so much prettier!
@@andyto629 because is pretty old and it probably was one of the firsts "graphic and user friendly" free analyzer to be suggested online in many tutorials at those times, if I recall it correctly. And it is good.
WOW... Every plugin manufacturer should get Dan to do one of these. What an incredibly informative walk-through. These are novel, complex processors, and I would have remained clueless about more than half their capabilities without Dan's take. I guess I'm gonna have to spend some more money now... EDIT: I must say that I have used, occasionally, TDR plugins over the years, especially Vlad's old Limiter No. 6, but this FREE Prism analyzer hooked me. It does all of the things I've been wishing all my other analyzers would do, but didn't. So I went ahead and purchased both the TDR + OD Production Bundle and the Filters bundle; yeah, pretty much everything! These NEW plugins show that TDR is active and excelling at pushing boundaries, not simply playing the game.
I think that a record company affiliated plugin creator that actually makes records is one of the reasons TDR plugins are so useable and relatively easy to use given how powerful they are.
I own all TDR GE editions... Next Ill consider this new bundle... But mate, for the first time, someone has explained what intermodulation actually is, and how it occurs.... Awesome-sauce!
We are using TDR exclusively on the some of these remasters of Shawn's work over on Eye Reckon Records, the label that Shawn started in Memphis. We were green lighted to start getting Shawn's rarities and releases he was getting ready to put out at the time of his passing out there. This is exciting news but as the engineer I wanted to share this information with you first. TDR Nova and TDR Kotelnikov are the only things we intend to use so it has as much quality as possible and doesn't interfere with Shawn's mixes. We think TDR and Ozone are the platinum standards these days and very eager to get this new content out. Thank you for such excellent plug ins. #TeamShawnLaneMemphis
I'll be honest, my brain hurts after all of that. I'm not a professional mixer or mastering engineer - just someone who tries to make music at home and who tries to mix and master it as best he can, using basic tools such as EQ and compression. I thought I'd seen all the "problems" mixes can suffer from - now there's a whole new list of things to not conquer very well!!! 😵💫 Anyway, hats off to TDR and Mr Worrall.
I'm in the same boat more or less. The nice thing about these plugins is that they help sort these audio issues easily, and they're not complicated to use.
EQ and compression are the best places to start! You're on the right track. This stuff all becomes simpler as you go. This stuff is definitely complex, but we're talking about a tenth of a percent here in terms of quality. I definitely recommend snagging Prism because it's going to be useful as a tool for you to see what you're doing, particularly when you're mastering, but I'm a music production instructor/mastering engineer and I'm not champing at the bit to get the other ones. They're cool but absolutely not essential for 99.9% of applications.@@tonyrapa-tonyrapa
all of the new plugins are absolutely mind-blowing! my favourites from this list are prism and arbiter, but others are also satisfying. thank you TDR for great plugins and thank you Dan for a great video!
A tip for those who own the T-RackS 5 Linear Phase EQ: It can do the same as the Elliptical Filter. I tried the test that Dan did in the video (18:44) with the T-RackS EQ, and the result was that the sine wave panned to the hard to the left remained unchanged.
Since I firstly heard about TDR in 2018, I was surprised how awesome and versatile their plugins are. I use them with huge pleasure and their results have never been a fault to me. Yes actually I'm using Engineers Filter on my Masterbus, but I think I found a new buddy here.❤ And TDR still fires out strong.🎉. Now having Dan introducing their plugins is a secret dream come true. Keep it stable guys and have a successful 2024🎉.
I can’t express how good Ultrasonic is. My last two mixes have it between every single non linear plugin in the mix. When you see how much inaudible high frequency build up there is, you start to realize that this is the entire reason it’s so difficult to get a really smooth silky high end on your mix. With this thing in it opens up everything in a way that sounds super smooth and natural. Your effects sound more open and natural and you can push the highs a more without being harsh.
How do you typically use it? On mixbis before Limiter or on individual tracks after Saturation inducing plugins? Still trying to figure how to best implement the plugin.
@@STyonksorry man, I never got a notification for this. I put it on every track that has saturation, compression, or any other non linear plugin. And it’s in between every one of those plugins in the chain. Try it. You can bypass all instances at the same time. When I did this it was a major aha moment for me.
This is really great, as always. I especially appreciate the explanation for why one would use Elliptical over a normal HPF affecting only the difference channel, because that was a real lightbulb moment.
I had no interest in purchasing those Special filters... at first. Then a friend convinced me esp given the fact that I own several TDR plugs. These filters especially Infrasonic and Ultrasonic are on all of my tunes since I bought them. Thanks to this vid I have a deeper insight on how I could apply the others I don't use. I'm not paid to say this. I'm just saying that these are good like all of the other TDR stuff. Great company. Looking forward to what they do next. Oh and the song selection in this vid is great!!
I suspect TDR might have gently nudged Dan with "let's go with songs that help mere mortals hear the points you're demonstrating." His videos are the most informative out there, and but sometimes the differences he's showing aren't all that salient to novice ears, what with so much else going on.
Very neat. This really helped explaining what I assumed to be a bunch of filters. Arbiter may be very interesting to me in dialogue mixing. Thank you for the video.
Found out about Prism a couple weeks ago and it's in all of my projects since ! One of the best analysing tool freebie (maybe the grand brother of Span?). Still I would have like to have a standalone version so it could be opened and running all the time on a separated windows.
Just bought Arbiter, it is a hidden gem! I'm using it to remove nasal or boxy content from vocal recordings with a dynamic mike - just perfect. Thank you TDR for creating such a great tool and also Dan for stirring me into the right direction! +++1
This is again a masterpiece of a Dan Worrall tutorial. No one can explain complex audio physics better than Dan. A plugin company who can hire Dan is lucky. They must belong to the best. Because you can't buy Dan's opinion (that's my opinion).
That's fantastic. I put off watching this for a while, since it's a little over 40 minutes, but the Prism tutorial is great. I typically have issues identifying a bell sound I get from my acoustic guitar, since I play in different open tunings for just about every song. This should really be quite useful for helping to zero in on that and other significant tones I'm looking to locate. Many thanks.
What a truly great company! You offer the best and most advanced mixing tools that can be found in the vst market. I already own some (Gentleman editions) and it seems I have to dive deeper into what you have introduced now. Thanks a lot from an avid customer from Germany. :-)

Awesome bundle and excelent video. This is no brainer to get. One thing I would like to ask to TDR is a 30dB range for prism, if possible. Better for louder tracks in EDM and DnB.
Around 20:25 it's unbelievable how a simple 100hz side filtering improve the sound. It's like it glues all together while making everything brighter and crispier. It makes the drums sound so different, more present and coherent. Anyway, I've got a question about pre ringing in general, when using linear phase. Let's say I export a mix, on the master bus I have an eq in maximum Linear phase with a HP filtering with a 18db slope and some bells here and there. Will I hear the artifact caused by pre ringing before the first transient of the entire waveform or before every transient of the song, accordingly with the amplitude of each transient? So, for example, before a kick hit the artifact will be more noticeable than before a less loud transient?

Great video with so much detail as we are used to when Dan Worrall is explaining it 👍. What I'm wondering is wether Infrasonic really uses something different to calculate the frequency spectrum like Dan Worrall mentioned at 12:50 🤔. Or did he mean "STFT" (short-term Fourier Transform) which is standard FFT + Windowing. The low frequency resolution can be easily done with a higher resolution FFT. For example you would get a spectral line for about every 5Hz @44.1kHz with a resolution of 8192. The manual does also not mention something special here. Could you clarify that?
TDR and Dan are so great. But the music in the background makes it difficult to learn the material. A humble suggestion is, to lower the background volume considerably, or Dan's voice only. Thank you for the great plugin and walkthrough!
